I sang this in my school choir ten years ago. It moved me to tears then, and it's moved me to tears now! Thank you so very much for posting this!! God bless and have a very merry Christmas!!
i love this, though it is Easter when i am listening to it it does send the same message to all.... does anyone know how i can purchase this video and cd? please let me know.
I absolutely LOVE this arraingement of the two songs together. Last Christmas was the first time I sang with our church choir, and we sang this as part of our songs. I never fully appreciated the two songs together until I actually sang it for our parish.

They sing this at my parish every Advent and Christmas season. Always very beautiful the way they sing both Child of the Poor and What Child is This at the same time like this.
Thank you for posting this :) I used to sing this in my church choir, and it's very hard to come by a good recording to listen to. It's my favourite Christmas song of all time. Absolutely beautiful!!
This is a haunting memory for me. As one melody expresses the divine side of Christ, the other melody expresses his human side. In order to give us the tools to ensure our own salvation, he became the darkness, the cause. He became human and lived one of the hardest lives at the time. The richest man in heaven became the poorest ones on earth. We are all the poor, the lonely, and the destitute. We all need help, but we don't know how to scream for it. We don't know how to cry anymore.
I love this arrangement. It is very beautiful. Wish I could hear the flute part just a tad more, but the voices are incredible. This is not an easy song to sing. Nicely done!
*sniff*sniff*sniff*........this song touches my heart that i shamelessly cried......beautifully sung as it is.......as Advent is drawing close.....I can see myself in the song......with the Child who lives among the poor......who is close to our hearts and our souls......*sniff*sniff*.......
From Wikipedia, since you piqued my interest, "There is, however, no available evidence that King Henry did in fact compose "Greensleeves", which is probably Elizabethan in origin and based on an Italian style of composition that did not reach England until after his death."
I love this song, we sang it for our Christmas services. The video is a little depressing but real so it makes you think of the hungry and poor and what we need to do more!!
I cry every time I hear this song. It's so sad but I love it so much because if not for songs like this the only way we know about homeless and poor people if those ones who stand at intersections holding signs and asking for food. it's sad and I always give them something. Who else does?
Hi, if you really want a copy of this, my Group (Notre Dame Folk Group in Hermitage PA) does have this actual song on our Christmas CD-we make and sell them for a soup kitchen/needs center in our area. Let me know!
This is so beautifully sung and presented. The tempo is just right, and having the men's voices counter the ladies' for the alternating parts make it very easy to hear the two distinct songs and understand the lyrics.
The slideshow is perfect for the song.
We're so glad to have found this at the beginning of the Advent season. Thank you and may God bless you.
Beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

nice video Scott Soper wrote Child of the Poor and arranged this and I would say that you would need to call OCP and ask permission....

Does anyone know where they acquired the license to cover this song?
My group has been adding original songs to an upcoming Christmas charity compilation album, but we need some carols too by November.
(The link to our Facebook group is on my Youtube profile, if anyone else wants to contribute too!)

@OrpheusWorks I think this song is old enough that it doesn't need a license to be performed.

@maryelizabethanne2 Is this song available on CD? I first heard this combo a few years ago sung at my church during Midnight Mass. Unforgettable!

If I have heard correctly, I believe Henry VIII of England wrote Greensleeves.
