I love Bush, he did and Laura did not intrude on our personal lives. M Obama is against childhood obesity, was she a fat kid? Now we have to pay for two to three meals a days for kids at school? Who knows better the parents or the govt?
Having supported bush do you feel any responsibility for the deaths of hundreds of thousands in Iraq? The war was completely unnecessary and trumped up by bush's administration! There were no WMDs, no biological weapon systems, and no terrorist ties! This bozo knew it yet was fixiated on, using the word he used, his "crusade".
I could talk about his dismanteling of environmental regulations too but its better that you just read the following book by RFK Jr.
this disaster of a clownish demeanor is finally gone...but at what cost? Great Recession is the name. Unless of course the GOP hire enough people to re-write history...but a recession is felt, not read about.
I'm not American as well, and I also have not supported any of his policies but I do know that he was clearly devoted to helping people in Africa. He tripled funding for aids, malaria and tuberculosis. I hated the guy's policy and governing but I didn't hate the guy personally...how could I?
I'm a German and I am discontented with the biased media here in Germany, portraying Bush unremittingly as being stupid and inarticulate etc.
Let me be clear, I do NOT support Bush's policy, in particular Iraq, nonetheless I find it unfair to not mention even a single good news. I am not exaggerating at this point, the German media was showing him only in a negative perspective.
Hence I am asking you Americans, wasn't there one good thing he did in the US?
i feel the same way bias is definitely an unfair technique on bush's part. to answer your main question he did nothing worthwhile for the america people. none.
We are STILL at war in the middle east. And we will continue to be even after the supposed pullout of Iraq because your incompetent president said 50,000 troops will stay there.
Truth is, our government as a whole sent us to war, Democrats and Republicans voted in majority YES to war in Iraq and then Dems used the war that they voted yes to, to try and destroy the idiot Bush, not that they even needed to destroy his reputation, he did that just fine without that war in Iraq.
What does that have to do with Obama? I don't think everything Obama has done has been perfect but pretty much everything that he has to do involves cleaning up after the bush administration. Just taking the single fact that the world believes in America again because of his Election makes him about a billion times better than Bush. I think he has definitely made some bad decisions, but to say that he is 10 times worse than Bush and be serious you have to be on crack.
1st off the world doesnt believe in America again, they now know we have a coward for a president, hence the reason N Korea is firing off test missles and bombs against our wishes.
And Obama isnt cleaning up after the Bush admin, he's cleaning up after your majority democrat congress. And in all honesty his "cleaning up" is actually making things worse.
Bush was one man, and since 06 the Democrat majority house and senate had more power than Bush.
oh I wasn't aware that North Korea was the whole world. What about the majority of Europe and the Muslim world that have about almost a %40 higher approval rating of America after Bush? And don't try and pretend Bush wasn't responsible for everything that's happened. Yes the democrats are spineless pussies, but they just went along with Bush. It was him and Cheney that fucked this country up. Everyone in the world seems to knows that except for right wing partisans like you.
I love it when someone bashes Obama or any democrat they get called a right winger. You idiot.
Anyways, thats the problem democrats went along with the bush admin. So they are all guilty. Democrats were the majority and they did nothing but let our country go in the toilet. Dems are just as guilty as repubs for destroying this nation.
And yeah, other countries approve of the US now because they know we have a coward as a president who would rather fight terrorists here than over there.
I wasn't calling you a right winger for bashing Obama, idiot, I was calling you a right winger for defending Bush. Almost everything Bush has done in his 8 years has been negligent and illegal. How could you defend this man after all the lies he sold us and all the deaths he caused unnecessarily? I agree with you that democrats are to blame as well, but not as much as Cheney and Bush. They were the policy makers.
Yep, Bush and Cheney were the policy makers and the majority democrat house and senate were the ones who supported it.
If the war in Iraq was illegal then we should put Bush, Cheney, Kerry, Sec of state Hillary Clinton, VP Joe Biden and all others who voted yes to the war in jail.
Which would mean Obama would pretty much have to pick a whole new cabinet of war supporting and/or tax evaders. Your hatred for Bush doesnt change the fact that he has no power without the support of a majority in govt
if there were no US on the map, I think all of us would have to live under fucking fundamentalist regimes, muslim extremists, etc... GOD BLESS US N THE FREE WORLD
Im not from US but I LUV this country the most... it's incredible... The whole wrold ows US alot... I luv Gerorge Bush as well he was one of the greatest president ever....
History will prove this man will go down as one of our Greatest Presidents! 20-30 years from now, EVERYONE WILL VIEW HIM DIFFERENTLY!! YOU WILL SEE! YOU WILL BE SHOCKED!
I am sorry that your presidency was such a failure. You of all people know that the job of Commander-n-Chief was just too much for you.
Your last 8yrs. where the worst this country had to endure, but as a black man I think you for paving the way for a black president, I can honestly say you did good Bush, you did good.
Your nice to wish those things for him, but you have to understand that Bush jr was just a puppet for his father, he talked about the new world order on 9/11 1991, and 10 years later all shit starts happening, now the economy is downhill, and i think this is for a reason, I suggest you watch Zeitgeist part 2, and then Exposing the satanic empire, if you believe in god.
Thank you Mr President. You have been a great patriot and a great American.
To all you liberals and misguided conservatives - nobodys perfect. When everyone was pointing their fingers after 911 asking ' why didnt you act before this happened', he did act. He acted by taking out the threat in Iraq that the WORLD saw. After an event like 911, you do NOT second guess!
While we were able to go back to normal lives in the SAFE streets he created, and be complaicent.... he could not! Thank you GWB!
playmaker, Bush was warned on 8-6-01 in a Presidential briefing:intelligence strongly indicated an attack on the U.S. involving hijacked planes. He chose to ignore that warning and focus on Iraq. What was the "threat "In Iraq you refer to?
WMD's. No. Saddam's ties to 9/11 or al qaueda? No. But al qaueda operates there now, since Bush destablilized it and left the borders open. Invading Iraq was Bush's way of scaring people into re-electing him in '04, since he couldnt catch the real terrorists.
The threat was in the intelligence Bush received. Bush wasnt out there convincing anyone of the threat. THis was widely believed. Saddam hastened the response with a game of chess, or Russian roulette by not honoring the resolution. All he had to do was prove he disarmed. Instead he sat back and made us guess. And in an immediate post 911 world and security atmosphere, I'm glad he called the bluff. Who knows how many people would have bluffed us since then had Saddam not been called.
Bush, Cheney, Rice and Powell werent out there "convincing"? Read "Bush, aides made 935 false statements" leading up to the invasion. How was Saddam supposed to prove he disarmed? That's like asking an accused criminal to prove he didnt do it, when there's no real evidence against him. Saddam was an easy target, easier than al qaueda. Bush said attack was imminent. Imminent as 9/11 whch he was warned about. BTW, lived in Baton Rouge 9 years. God Bless Louisiana, and Mamou.
You are SOOOOO correct. The day after 9/11 everybody! was like "LETS GO GETTEM!" ... so we went. A months later people started realizing that when wars happen ... people die. Then everyone turned on Bush. ANYONE in there (the presidency) would have been everlastingly deemed a "baaaad" president. I don't think Obama would've done ANYTHING different.
Exactly! People wanted to get the people responsible for 9/11. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The Bush Adminstration mislead the country in order to start a war for their own selfish purposes.
Was taking out Saddam a selfish purpose? It wasn't ONLY Bush, refer to my previous message. Everyone the day after 9/11 was ready to charge immediately. We did. We fought AL Q as well as taking out Iraq, a known terrorist hot-spot where hundreds of thousands of murders were committed. I don't like war, but to blame it solely on Bush, in my opinion, isn't correct.
Bush didn't take Saddam out to protect America. Bush invaded a sovereign nation that never attacked America to avenge his father and to make sure that Saddam didn't control the oil. Other people had their own motives. Dick Cheney wanted to secure no-bid contracts for Haliburtion. It's called war profiteering. And I'm not just blaming Bush. Americans are too blame too. Americans were lazy, ignorant and thirty for revenge. Americans were also stupid enough to reelect Bush.
What are you talking about? Iraq didn't attack America in the Gulf War. America was putting its nose in another country's business. It had nothing to do with America until America put itself in the middle of it, trying to be the world's police.
No, but you are obviously an arrogant fuck who thinks they know it all. So, I hope your dogs dies you fuck. You could have at least commented on something I said, or disagreed etc. But no... just a dumbass, arrogant, childish remark Fuck you don't even bother writing me.
"Dems controlled congress since 2002"...Check your facts. LadyGreeneyes, I know Sean Hannity is a handsome man but I swear to God he lies to America..and YOU. I was indoctrinated also till 2003 when I found out about former Marine Scott Ritter, head of the UN weapons inspection program. He was screaming there were no WMD. I'm an armed conservative who has seen their lies . Please turn off Fox news and do some independent research.
Bush's illegal war against a sovereign nation (Iraq) has only exacerbated the problem with global terrorism. Furthermore, IMO if Iraq had bananas instead of oil, Bush wouldn't know how to SPELL Iraq.
He seems very nervous and a little sad in his voice, specially when he talks about the israelo-palestinian conflict. Am I right or is it a false impression that I have ?
You people who praise bush are off your rockers! I can't believe you are humans , so f------dumb! if Bush bashed you in the head with a brick you would still praise him...Gullable and easy to control little puppets!
Until you stop blaming all the problems on Bush, or any president, and getting to the very bottom of every problem, we are DOOMED to fail... I mean do you want to spend more taxes so that the government can FAIL again, because realistically that's what they do best.. So people, suck it up.. stop whining. stop buying expensive clothes and cars. save your money, and be smart.
lol! are you sure about that? did you even research his administration? have you taken hours to understand obamas views? most likely not. Try it. We know that you are just judging him from the commercial mccain made about him or the opinions of the press. hell, i bet america woulda died if mccain was president. Unlike u, ive researched both administration.
i researched all the candidates (every single candidate in both primaries, because I'm an independent and I could have voted in either primary) and I found that with Obama, what he was running on didn't necessarily match how he voted in the past, and now that he has been elected, he seems to be staying with a lot of Bush's policies, just modifying some of them.
Well to start, it seems there has been issues with every other cabinet appointee... and theres still debate as to whether hes a natural born citizen (see Globe Magazine 1/9/09) etc.
Globe Magazine lol? The same one with a cover story"Obama Snubs Boozing Bush?" Very credible publication. There are perceived "issues" with the nominees of every president; that's why they have confirmation hearings. Other than Bill Richardson withdrawing, no issue has been considered a serious obstacle to the successful confirmation of any Obama nominee.
I agree. Most people are lazy or act like a helpless victim and expect government to solve all of our problems. That's how government gets big. Anyway, you want a solution? Then find a solution instead of letting everyone else do all the work. I'm not a big Bush fan but I don't blame him for everything.
... Would you really want Al Gore commanding our troops after 9/11 happened? I don't think he'd know what to do, Al Gore is a tool, just like William Clinton.
So if Saddam Hussein killed maybe another million innocent people and took over Israel and started firing nukes into Europe from Gaza, Iraq would still be a mistake?
You say another failure was the "economic meltdown". What about job growth at a record 15 month rise, and the DOW being the highest it's been in HISTORY, how about the largest percentile fall in crude oil prices in history?
You totally missed the point. If people knew Bin Laden was dead there would be no way for our government to justify the "War on Terror". It's bullshit much like the "War on Drugs" in the 80's.
Bush wasn't perfect. He made mistakes. But I don't think he was evil. You want to know who an evil president was? Andrew Jackson. He was the one who first implemented genocide on Native Americans. (For that reason I rather have two 10 dollar bills or twenty 1 dollar bills.) Those who say "Bush is the most evil person in the world" don't know what they are saying. I can understand if they say "he's not the smartest president." I do believe Bush thought he was doing good whether we agree or not.
I am glad this Dick is out in 4 days. He has made the US a third world country in 8 yrs. The bad thing is that he will receive almost 200K until he dies + other benefits. I think he would save us money if ship his ass to Guantanamo bay.
Okay, how about a Palestinian ghetto? There are many parallels between Gaza and pre-WWII Jewish ghettos.
In both cases, because of their religion, innocents were thrown out of their homes and restricted to a certain area, discriminated against, and forced to live in inferior conditions and poverty.
Now, I think we have all learned our lesson from Hitler, so there won't be another Holocaust, but the Jewish people have taken a step towards become oppressors, though they once were the oppressed.
The Germans were killing people because of their Jewish genetics and religion and there was no other motive except for hatred.Israel is doing this for an end to Hamas rocket attacks. If this was a Muslim holocaust as you suggest, the death count would already be in the tens of thousands, Israel would be bombing any apartment building it could find, I only ask that you not call this a holocaust, maybe if more people die later on
It's just you. He never once said how he totally fucked this country up by letting his rich buddies rob and pillage and involving us in an unnecessary war.
You guys need to chill offa Bush ~_~... I didn't agree with him during ANY of his presidency, but I mean this wasn't a bad press conference. And good job whoever posted this, the caps lock totally enforced your own intelligence -_-;;.
It really looks like he has no idea what hes talking about. Look how his standing, delivering his speech. Standing slouched, not talking clear, looking for answers in his head using his facial expression.
It is sad that all Republicans are associated with this man. Nonetheless, the tone that his opponents have used are not civil considering the intellectual guise of the left.
After shunning the press his entire presidency, he finally bumbles through an extensive press conference and goes on a "legacy" tour with a week left. This man has no courage.
Its time to bring a solution to Isreal. The solution will be Unexpected of course. Isreal will have to answer to the WAR CRIMES it has comitted, and soon everyone will know. Just keep FUCKING RAPPING YOUR MOUTH OFF. Soon you will all die. ITS YOUR END GAME, prepare your country for Death and Destruction, you have crossed the line before and this is the last TIME. This is the Crisis for America.
Prepare your Families. 40 days. and its all over. GOOD BYE.
You're just another cyber coward, and thats "all u can be now".if you have a name and address,i'll come take out the trash, pray to your false profit all you want, he has betrayed you,69,000 insurgents lay wasted in Iraq alone, and Isreal is mopping the floor with your friends in Gaza, eventually the world will understand that radical Islamist's are so brave, hiding behind women and children is there only fighting tactic, you've lost, now do us all a favor and wash your mouth out with Buckshot!
This motherfucker will go down as the WORST president in history. FACT! Starting two unnessessary wars: CHECK! Lying about WMDs: CHECK Causing TWO recessions in his administration: CHECK Biggest budget deficit in history: CHECK Doubling national debt: CHECK Losing overwhelming majority of Republican majority: CHECK Getting 4,000 Americans killed for no reason: CHECK Biggest job loss since Great Depression: CHECK
Right, all the woes of the world blamed on one man. Are you always this delusional? You know, they have shrinks that specifically treat that lingering 2000 election whiny syndrome.
Indeed. Amazing that none were laid at the feet of a president that was an embarrassment to his family, his office, and his country, one that was quite probably a sexual offender and a crook. Nope, gotta blame it all on one guy, because they were not allowed to steal an election in Florida. Almost enough to make you feel sorry for them. Almost.
Not sure what country you've been living in for the past decade. And Clinton wasn't an embarrassment for me. And I'm sure you didn't feel any. His relationship with Lewinsky had no effect on how the world viewed us. In fact, many countries thought the hypocrisy of it all was silly. You Bush supporters keep drawing at straws. That's because you know in your hearts Bush will be remembered for ruining this nation. Rightfully, he should because of his lies and poor decision making.
Well, we know what state you are living in; the State of Denial. Clinton was an embarrassment. Multiple sex scandals, Whitewater, his "wag-the-dog" military decisions, and more. Bush, on the other hand, did good things. He passed pro-life laws, reduced taxes, and provided strong leadership in a time of war. War, mind you, that WE did not start, but that HE had the guts to act on. You anti-Bush people spouting "ruin" mean nothing.
You didn't name any major accomplishments. None. Let's see,...... reduced taxes for the rich. And pro-life issues are so far down the list of this country's problems. You're still drawing at straws. The war was a poor decision. There was no "strong" leadership. Declaring war doesn't make you strong. No nukes, no WMD's, no 9/11 connection. So don't tell that lie. Bush told it enough. You just hate Arabs and Islam. And your American arrogance is why other countries hate us.
He reduced taxes for every middle class and lower income family I know, clown.
The wholesale commercial slaughter of the unborn is a MAJOR issue, and I am sorry you are unable to grasp that.
The war was voted on by your darling lib congress, remember? Better vote them all out fast!
YOU just hate Bush, Conservatives, & Christians, and whoever else doesn't buy into your socialist agenda. Some of us are intelligent enough to address real issues, not lib rhetoric.
When the war vote was taken, there was a Republican majority, not a "darling lib Congress. Check your facts. Dems didnt get a majority until 2006. More importantly, the votes of Republicans and Dems alike were based on Bush and his cronies' misleading, distorted and out and out false statements to justify invading Iraq. Google "Bush and aides made 935 false statements in runup to war".
Get the facts, dude, The Democrats have controlled Congress since 2002. You also clearly have ZERO knowledge of the way intel works, or you would not make such a statement.
There was no lying, and your precious Dems voted for the war as well. Get over yourselves already. You probably think Michael Moore makes actual documentaries, don't you?
You mean since 2006. And unless you work for the NSA or CIA you don't have any special knowledge either. Like I stated before, no WMD's, no 9/11 connections, no nukes. ALL LIES!!
You get the facts, "Dude", In 2002, the Republicans held a majority in the Senate of 51-48, with one Independent. In the House, they held a 233-202 majority, In 2004, Republicans had a 232-201 majority in the House and a 55-44 majority in the Senate. In 2006, the Dems gained 31 seats in the House to take a 2 seat majority, and Dems gained 5 seats in the Senate to gain a 49-49 tie, with one Independent. Do you even know what Congress is?
Lady Greeneyes, what do you "understand:" about intel that no one else does? Dems, like many Republicans who later regretted it, , voted for the war because they were misled by Bush, Cheney and the gang with distorted and flat out made-up intelligence. "There was no lying"? Jesus.
Apparently, you do not understand that this was investigated, and it was shown that no one was LYING. You can't handle that your liberal sweethearts agreed with the decision, unless you can claim Bush "lied". That's called living in a state of denial.
Are you that angry that you were totally wrong about the Democratiic "majority" Congress? I see you didnt mention that, after telling me to get my facts straight. "False statements" = lies to me, and there 935 false statements documented. What investigation are you talking about? And most of the Republicans who voted for the war are as angry as the Dems at Bush and his people for misleading them into a needless war. But you're so stupid, you probably believe we're still right to be in Iraq.
I'm sorry. Hope I didnt give you a headache with all those numbers about Congress' makeup or the false statments by the Bush administration. People like you dont deal well with facts. You prefer to hold on to your unsupported opinions. Those facts suck when you're uninformed and want to stay that way, dont they?
All of your "facts" are made up. You're so biased you can't tell the truth. You're exactly like Bush. LIE, LIE, and DENY!! You know, the world isn't flat, lady. Ironic how you call me a clown when your statements are laughable.
You call him a liar, but offer no comments or evidence to support that statement. His speech was sincere, and he clearly KNEW what he was talking about, unlike Obama, who can't answer anything that he wasn't prepped for ahead of time. Bush didn't do everything right (the border and illegal invasion come to mind), but he did a LOT of good things. The failure in this presidency is in the lap of lib sheep that condone and promote lies and hate because they weren't allowed to steal an election.
"weren't allowed to steal an election"?r u kidding me?in florida law states that any ex-felon is not allowed to vote...fair enough(though that means 31% of all black men in florida,90% of which are democrats) but not only was that not enough they also stole the vote away from people who had similar profiles to those ex-felons.They decided that an 80% match(similar names, surnames, social security numbers...) was enough to loose a person his vote.that is the way bush got elected
BS. I was IN Florida, and ALL of the fraud was on the part of Democrats, including during the so-called recount. THAT was nothing but an attempt to toss out Republican votes, including those of our servicemen and women overseas. No one had their vote "stolen"; you should get FACTS before spouting off.
i got the fact and gave a very small percentage of them to you."Katherine harris, the florida secretary of state in charge of elections paid $4 million to Database Technologies to go through voter roles and remove anyone "suspected" of being a former felon". she did so with the blessing of the Governor of florida(Jeb Bush). whose own wife was caught sneaking $19,000 worth of jewelry in the country without declaring and paying tax on it-which is a felony.
you can easily call him a liar,he said that there were WMD's in iraq, is that not evidence enough? Bush later in this speech or another claimed his precidency was a success because america was only attacked once on its homeland...pathetic
There was (and IS) a lot of evidence of WMD's in Iraq, and that these were moved to Syria before we arrived. Since the war, materials have been found. Plus, Saddam used nerve gas (a WMD) on his own people. Bush acted on the intel, and if that wasn't perfect (and it never is), that does not constitute a lie. The failure in this country is in the lap of some of the people, not Bush.
All you bashing Bush are idiots and all of you praising Bush are idiots as well. The only comments worth reading are the ones that are unbiased showing that Bush did some bad things as well as good. Don't forget who the real blame goes to and that is the "people" of America and not the ones running it. We choose who controls even though it is debatable(electoral college). If so many people detest the war and and Bush then why did so much of America elect him for a second term. Point
I like George Bush, and yes he mostly screwed up his presidency, but he also did some good things for America. You can criticize him all you want, but all you Bush-bashers who are completely hateful towards him need to be less ignorant. It's easy to give your opinion and it's ok to disagree with someone, but the low blows aren't necessary. You're all so high on Obama, so why don't you talk about the future and not the past. Let history judge George Bush. God bless Bush, Obama, and America.
...there was no weapons of mass destruction, which was the main reason for going into Iraq...so why are our troops still there? What is the excuse now?
And thats the problem. You fucking TOOLS think that just because someone isnt an elegant speaker that they are therefore stupid. You wana know why bush sounds the way he does? Cause he doesnt use the fucking crutch that is the teleprompter like obama which he cant go 5 feet away from. And its painfully obvious when he does get away from either a script written for him or when hes away from the teleprompter.
Oh and not to mention the press throwing nothing but softballs at obama all throughout the campaign. And any time they threw anything other than a softball, they wouldn't talk to them ever again.
And another thing, i'm betting you can't even sleep at night because america is always on your mind asshole. And with haters like you there is no wonder we are always #1. So before you spit out some dumb propaganda think about it first choose your words wisely, because you never know we might have to save your sorry ass out of trouble someday. Choose your enemies wisely dummy
Their playing the race card. Do not be fooled. THINK!
Obama is a puppet Ron Paul is for real. Educate yourself don't believe anything from major news corps. or university studies. Practice co-op farming and own guns, and never give them up for ANY reason.
We need to balance the budget. Andrew Jackson did it, and was nearly murdered because of it. The assassin's weapon(s)misfired. Save Ron Paul, and remember our heroes and what they died for.
im sure there are plenty of teenagers on here willing to share their inherently uneducated opinions, so ill keep it short: don't scapegoat bush for our problems.
Iraq was a blunder and actually created more terrorists , its called escalation. Only afghanistan was neccessary. Bush was a medicore president, but i think that he could have done much better had he 1. thought out his decision's, 2. not surrounded himself with assholes like cheney and rumsfeld , and 3. had he not let his thoughts be clouded by hubris and arrogance.
Iraq was not a major blunder. Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks so invading Iraq was necessary for reducing future terrorist attacks on our country. Iraq had WMD's, they were transported to Syria during the initial invasion of Iraq.
GOOD RIDDANCE !!!

Sirrum422 2 years ago
oh I wasn't aware that North Korea was the whole world.
Vajra13 2 years ago
I love it when someone bashes Obama or any democrat they get called a right winger. You idiot.
Anyways, thats the problem democrats went along with the bush admin. So they are all guilty. Democrats were the majority and they did nothing but let our country go in the toilet. Dems are just as guilty as repubs for destroying this nation.
And yeah, other countries approve of the US now because they know we have a coward as a president who would rather fight terrorists here than over there.
Sirrum422 2 years ago
I wasn't calling you a right winger for bashing Obama, idiot, I was calling you a right winger for defending Bush. Almost everything Bush has done in his 8 years has been negligent and illegal. How could you defend this man after all the lies he sold us and all the deaths he caused unnecessarily? I agree with you that democrats are to blame as well, but not as much as Cheney and Bush. They were the policy makers.
Vajra13 2 years ago
Yep, Bush and Cheney were the policy makers and the majority democrat house and senate were the ones who supported it.
If the war in Iraq was illegal then we should put Bush, Cheney, Kerry, Sec of state Hillary Clinton, VP Joe Biden and all others who voted yes to the war in jail.
Which would mean Obama would pretty much have to pick a whole new cabinet of war supporting and/or tax evaders. Your hatred for Bush doesnt change the fact that he has no power without the support of a majority in govt

Thank you GWB!
playmayker88 3 years ago
playmaker, Bush was warned on 8-6-01 in a Presidential briefing:intelligence strongly indicated an attack on the U.S. involving hijacked planes. He chose to ignore that warning and focus on Iraq. What was the "threat "In Iraq you refer to?
WMD's. No. Saddam's ties to 9/11 or al qaueda? No. But al qaueda operates there now, since Bush destablilized it and left the borders open. Invading Iraq was Bush's way of scaring people into re-electing him in '04, since he couldnt catch the real terrorists.
bill3979 3 years ago
The threat was in the intelligence Bush received. Bush wasnt out there convincing anyone of the threat. THis was widely believed. Saddam hastened the response with a game of chess, or Russian roulette by not honoring the resolution. All he had to do was prove he disarmed. Instead he sat back and made us guess. And in an immediate post 911 world and security atmosphere, I'm glad he called the bluff. Who knows how many people would have bluffed us since then had Saddam not been called.
playmayker88 3 years ago
Bush, Cheney, Rice and Powell werent out there "convincing"? Read "Bush, aides made 935 false statements" leading up to the invasion. How was Saddam supposed to prove he disarmed? That's like asking an accused criminal to prove he didnt do it, when there's no real evidence against him. Saddam was an easy target, easier than al qaueda. Bush said attack was imminent. Imminent as 9/11 whch he was warned about. BTW, lived in Baton Rouge 9 years. God Bless Louisiana, and Mamou.
bill3979 3 years ago
You are SOOOOO correct. The day after 9/11 everybody! was like "LETS GO GETTEM!" ... so we went. A months later people started realizing that when wars happen ... people die. Then everyone turned on Bush. ANYONE in there (the presidency) would have been everlastingly deemed a "baaaad" president. I don't think Obama would've done ANYTHING different.
herbiethebarber 3 years ago
Exactly! People wanted to get the people responsible for 9/11. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The Bush Adminstration mislead the country in order to start a war for their own selfish purposes.
josbo51713 3 years ago
Was taking out Saddam a selfish purpose? It wasn't ONLY Bush, refer to my previous message. Everyone the day after 9/11 was ready to charge immediately. We did. We fought AL Q as well as taking out Iraq, a known terrorist hot-spot where hundreds of thousands of murders were committed. I don't like war, but to blame it solely on Bush, in my opinion, isn't correct.
herbiethebarber 3 years ago
Bush didn't take Saddam out to protect America. Bush invaded a sovereign nation that never attacked America to avenge his father and to make sure that Saddam didn't control the oil. Other people had their own motives. Dick Cheney wanted to secure no-bid contracts for Haliburtion. It's called war profiteering. And I'm not just blaming Bush. Americans are too blame too. Americans were lazy, ignorant and thirty for revenge. Americans were also stupid enough to reelect Bush.
josbo51713 3 years ago
The only person who knows that is Bush. Never attacked America? What about the Gulf War?
herbiethebarber 3 years ago
What are you talking about? Iraq didn't attack America in the Gulf War. America was putting its nose in another country's business. It had nothing to do with America until America put itself in the middle of it, trying to be the world's police.

RoxasC08 3 years ago
i researched all the candidates (every single candidate in both primaries, because I'm an independent and I could have voted in either primary) and I found that with Obama, what he was running on didn't necessarily match how he voted in the past, and now that he has been elected, he seems to be staying with a lot of Bush's policies, just modifying some of them.
Briantino 3 years ago
What scandal is the Obama administration "plagued with"?
bill3979 3 years ago
Well to start, it seems there has been issues with every other cabinet appointee... and theres still debate as to whether hes a natural born citizen (see Globe Magazine 1/9/09) etc.
Briantino 3 years ago
Globe Magazine lol? The same one with a cover story"Obama Snubs Boozing Bush?" Very credible publication. There are perceived "issues" with the nominees of every president; that's why they have confirmation hearings. Other than Bill Richardson withdrawing, no issue has been considered a serious obstacle to the successful confirmation of any Obama nominee.
bill3979 3 years ago
I agree. Most people are lazy or act like a helpless victim and expect government to solve all of our problems. That's how government gets big. Anyway, you want a solution? Okay, how about a Palestinian ghetto? There are many parallels between Gaza and pre-WWII Jewish ghettos.
In both cases, because of their religion, innocents were thrown out of their homes and restricted to a certain area, discriminated against, and forced to live in inferior conditions and poverty.
Now, I think we have all learned our lesson from Hitler, so there won't be another Holocaust, but the Jewish people have taken a step towards become oppressors, though they once were the oppressed.
umtympnomiko 3 years ago
Sorry, I need to correct myself - the Jewish people have already become the sort of oppressors they once struggled against.
The world must let them know that this is unacceptable.
umtympnomiko 3 years ago
The Germans were killing people because of their Jewish genetics and religion and there was no other motive except for hatred.Israel is doing this for an end to Hamas rocket attacks. If this was a Muslim holocaust as you suggest, the death count would already be in the tens of thousands, Israel would be bombing any apartment building it could find, I only ask that you not call this a holocaust, maybe if more people die later on

Almost.
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
Not sure what country you've been living in for the past decade. And Clinton wasn't an embarrassment for me. And I'm sure you didn't feel any. His relationship with Lewinsky had no effect on how the world viewed us. In fact, many countries thought the hypocrisy of it all was silly. You Bush supporters keep drawing at straws. That's because you know in your hearts Bush will be remembered for ruining this nation. Rightfully, he should because of his lies and poor decision making.
donlon79 3 years ago
Well, we know what state you are living in; the State of Denial. Clinton was an embarrassment. Multiple sex scandals, Whitewater, his "wag-the-dog" military decisions, and more. Bush, on the other hand, did good things. He passed pro-life laws, reduced taxes, and provided strong leadership in a time of war. War, mind you, that WE did not start, but that HE had the guts to act on. You anti-Bush people spouting "ruin" mean nothing.
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
You didn't name any major accomplishments. None. Let's see,...... reduced taxes for the rich. And pro-life issues are so far down the list of this country's problems. You're still drawing at straws. The war was a poor decision. There was no "strong" leadership. Declaring war doesn't make you strong. No nukes, no WMD's, no 9/11 connection. So don't tell that lie. Bush told it enough. You just hate Arabs and Islam. And your American arrogance is why other countries hate us.
donlon79 3 years ago
He reduced taxes for every middle class and lower income family I know, clown.
The wholesale commercial slaughter of the unborn is a MAJOR issue, and I am sorry you are unable to grasp that.
The war was voted on by your darling lib congress, remember? Better vote them all out fast!
YOU just hate Bush, Conservatives, & Christians, and whoever else doesn't buy into your socialist agenda. Some of us are intelligent enough to address real issues, not lib rhetoric.
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
When the war vote was taken, there was a Republican majority, not a "darling lib Congress. Check your facts. Dems didnt get a majority until 2006. More importantly, the votes of Republicans and Dems alike were based on Bush and his cronies' misleading, distorted and out and out false statements to justify invading Iraq. Google "Bush and aides made 935 false statements in runup to war".
bill3979 3 years ago
Get the facts, dude, The Democrats have controlled Congress since 2002. You also clearly have ZERO knowledge of the way intel works, or you would not make such a statement.
There was no lying, and your precious Dems voted for the war as well. Get over yourselves already. You probably think Michael Moore makes actual documentaries, don't you?
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
You mean since 2006. And unless you work for the NSA or CIA you don't have any special knowledge either. Like I stated before, no WMD's, no 9/11 connections, no nukes. ALL LIES!!
donlon79 3 years ago
You get the facts, "Dude", In 2002, the Republicans held a majority in the Senate of 51-48, with one Independent. In the House, they held a 233-202 majority, In 2004, Republicans had a 232-201 majority in the House and a 55-44 majority in the Senate. In 2006, the Dems gained 31 seats in the House to take a 2 seat majority, and Dems gained 5 seats in the Senate to gain a 49-49 tie, with one Independent. Do you even know what Congress is?
bill3979 3 years ago
Lady Greeneyes, what do you "understand:" about intel that no one else does? Dems, like many Republicans who later regretted it, , voted for the war because they were misled by Bush, Cheney and the gang with distorted and flat out made-up intelligence. "There was no lying"? Jesus.
bill3979 3 years ago
Apparently, you do not understand that this was investigated, and it was shown that no one was LYING. You can't handle that your liberal sweethearts agreed with the decision, unless you can claim Bush "lied". That's called living in a state of denial.
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
Are you that angry that you were totally wrong about the Democratiic "majority" Congress? I see you didnt mention that, after telling me to get my facts straight. "False statements" = lies to me, and there 935 false statements documented. What investigation are you talking about? And most of the Republicans who voted for the war are as angry as the Dems at Bush and his people for misleading them into a needless war. But you're so stupid, you probably believe we're still right to be in Iraq.
bill3979 3 years ago
I'm sorry. Hope I didnt give you a headache with all those numbers about Congress' makeup or the false statments by the Bush administration. People like you dont deal well with facts. You prefer to hold on to your unsupported opinions. Those facts suck when you're uninformed and want to stay that way, dont they?
bill3979 3 years ago

LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
"weren't allowed to steal an election"?r u kidding me?in florida law states that any ex-felon is not allowed to vote...fair enough(though that means 31% of all black men in florida,90% of which are democrats) but not only was that not enough they also stole the vote away from people who had similar profiles to those ex-felons.They decided that an 80% match(similar names, surnames, social security numbers...) was enough to loose a person his vote.that is the way bush got elected
Cietru 3 years ago
BS. I was IN Florida, and ALL of the fraud was on the part of Democrats, including during the so-called recount. THAT was nothing but an attempt to toss out Republican votes, including those of our servicemen and women overseas. No one had their vote "stolen"; you should get FACTS before spouting off.
LadyGreenEyes964 3 years ago
i got the fact and gave a very small percentage of them to you."Katherine harris, the florida secretary of state in charge of elections paid $4 million to Database Technologies to go through voter roles and remove anyone "suspected" of being a former felon". she did so with the blessing of the Governor of florida(Jeb Bush). whose own wife was caught sneaking $19,000 worth of jewelry in the country without declaring and paying tax on it-which is a felony.
Cietru 3 years ago
now can you please mention the fraud that was on the part of the democrats?
Cietru 3 years ago
you can easily call him a liar,he said that there were WMD's in iraq, is that not evidence enough? Bush later in this speech or another claimed his precidency was a success because america was only attacked once on its homeland...pathetic
Cietru 3 years ago
There was (and IS) a lot of evidence of WMD's in Iraq, and that these were moved to Syria before we arrived. Since the war, materials have been found. Plus, Saddam used nerve gas (a WMD) on his own people. Bush acted on the intel, and if that wasn't perfect (and it never is), that does not constitute a lie. The failure in this country is in the lap of some of the people, not Bush.

Holy shit. Seriously.

Seems like an appropriate close to a pathetic presidency.

...there was no weapons of mass destruction, which was the main reason for going into Iraq...so why are our troops still there? What is the excuse now?

not being anti usa or anti bush but i cannot believe this bumbling fool became the most powerful man in the world,he can barely talk
eamisagomey 3 years ago
And thats the problem. You fucking TOOLS think that just because someone isnt an elegant speaker that they are therefore stupid. You wana know why bush sounds the way he does? Cause he doesnt use the fucking crutch that is the teleprompter like obama which he cant go 5 feet away from. And its painfully obvious when he does get away from either a script written for him or when hes away from the teleprompter.
girzwald3 3 years ago
Oh and not to mention the press throwing nothing but softballs at obama all throughout the campaign. And any time they threw anything other than a softball, they wouldn't talk to them ever again.

And another thing, i'm betting you can't even sleep at night because america is always on your mind asshole. And with haters like you there is no wonder we are always #1. So before you spit out some dumb propaganda think about it first choose your words wisely, because you never know we might have to save your sorry ass out of trouble someday. Choose your enemies wisely dummy

President Bush has really been nothing more than a patsy for the real powers in the government who have a rather sinister agenda.

How on earth did the American people vote for this man for two times? It's hard not to feel sorry for this man.
I'm glad we finally made the right choice this year.

"I KILL THE BANK"
Andrew Jackson's favorite saying.

Ron Paul sucks. We need 21st century leadership, not 19th century leadership.

im sure there are plenty of teenagers on here willing to share their inherently uneducated opinions, so ill keep it short: don't scapegoat bush for our problems.
DonkyKong8765 3 years ago
America was attacked, unjustly at a time when they had the least effective leadership. History will judge Bush to be reactive rather than proactive.
The attack on Iraq, on what has been proven a false pretext.
The economy, Katrina and worse a respresentation of America which has changed world perception.
worst president, ever

Bush has improved our country, the iraq war prevented another terrorist attack on our homeland. He is a good man, an honorable man.
quest8899 3 years ago
Iraq was a blunder and actually created more terrorists , its called escalation. Only afghanistan was neccessary. Bush was a medicore president, but i think that he could have done much better had he 1. thought out his decision's, 2. not surrounded himself with assholes like cheney and rumsfeld , and 3. had he not let his thoughts be clouded by hubris and arrogance.
Rip2pac2k6 3 years ago
Iraq was not a major blunder. Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks so invading Iraq was necessary for reducing future terrorist attacks on our country. Iraq had WMD's, they were transported to Syria during the initial invasion of Iraq.
