Jimi was ODing but I believe his life could have been saved if the girl called emergency before she flushed down all the drugs. She was worried about getting busted which could have been a factor to his death. I wasn't there but that's the story I heard. If true, I believe it is, it saddens me most of all that his death could have been prevented.
Lesson to be learned? DONT use drugs. Pretty simple. A lesson still not learned 41 years later with these idiots. Unfortunately one that will never be learned.
Why has there not been a Jimmy Hendrix movie? Is it because those who influence pop culture do not want to expose current generations to past ideas like revolution, freedom, drug use and the anti-war movement. Sometimes it is the story that is NOT being told that tells so us much.
@alltvisanimated There was a movie made called "Hendrix". But it really kinda sucked. Its hard to find, and the acting and the storyline was away outta whack. I would like to see a movie done. But as long as is some of the best producers, actors, and directors. We dont need anyone making Jimi look bad. It might almost be best just to leave it alone. Allthough the movie The Doors was pretty good, it is possible. But how many people would actually pay to go see it? I know I would. RIP JIMI.
Why are people always comparing greats? Whether it be in the performing arts, visual arts, sports, literature, etc... it's like comparing oranges to apples, people! Everyone has their own distinct taste-let's just leave it at that, okay? Geez!
Great messengers of religion and music seem to die when their mission is complete. Actually Jimi had nothing else to give he said that himself. He said after this whats left for me. Jimi didnt feel he would live long life he new he was a messenger and his time was up. But he still lives on in his music.
Before Jimi's death he was supposed to colaberate with Sly Stone, Miles Davis and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Jimi was headed into free jazz music that would have been awsome. R.I.P. Jimi your still the greatest.
@JeffGR4...If that's your opinion, then granted, but I'm coming from an artistic point of view and me being black ain't got shit to do with it....which is mighty white of you to say. people wriote for Elvis, as Jimi was a musical innovator. Big, big, big difference. I liked Elvis' shit, so don't throw the color shit in there. Plus Elvis' music was simple to play. Hendrix was an experience. Slow your roll. I know what I'm saying, as you're reading around it and into it.
@MSV94 Some cases are different though.....like Buddy Holly or some of the members of Lynyrd Skynrd for example. Or Bob Marley.........or George Harrison. But realistically nothing happens to them that wouldnt happen to anyone else.
wow! no remorse whatsoever. but this was 1970. there was a revolution going on in america. the flower power era revolting against the establishment. hendrix was one of the many icons of the movement, and the media was the establishment. thus, their lack of remorse was really a thumbing of the nose towards the youth of that time, and their revolutionary ideals.
All Along The Graveyard The Night Watchman Takes Us On An Instrumental Journey As We Listen For The Sounds Of His Guitar To Guide Our Way ....Inside...By Darrell Deese Im a guitar Player That No One Cares To Hear But Loves To Hate
Rock music wasn't yet accepted as "mainstream" by the corporate media establishment in 1970. Jimi's death was given the same treatment that a gansta rapper's would be today.
The Media back then had a tendency to be very biased, and it showed here! Just because Jimmy was no Altar Boy and struggled with habits like we all do no matter what the addiction it is no reason to kick him while he is deceased. Who are they to Judge!
I live a mile from where Jimi's buried. He's at Greenwood Memorial in Renton, WA and they just built a new gazebo-styled monument for him. Supposedly, 50,000 people visit his grave site each year including the likes of Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie Ray Vaughan had visited Jimi several months before he died, even played one of his guitars. What a talent, Jimi and Kurt Cobain are two local Seattle stars whose fire was snuffed way too early. Thnx for the post!
The comment is awful and sarcastic. I really cannot stand it. The "man with the guitar" changed music forever. It is probably the biggest artist last century ever had.
