  • I think they should have gave Caroline more time to speak, even though she wasn't very articulate. And it seemed like she would rather argue against "anti-government sentiment" than talk about regulation.

  • @MooseOfReason Admitting that every move BP made was already regulated would undermine her position that every failure is a "market" failure to be solved by ... regulation.

  • That Caroline Heldman is feisty. Most people couldn't even come back with replies....but she has some decent answers. The libertarians on there need to refine their rebuttals to deal with people like her. It would have been interesting to see if Judge could have defeated her on her defense of taxation.

  • this is the first time i've ever seen the judge step away from his libertarian stance. the libertarian argument would have been to take away subsidies given to oil companies and alternative fuel companies and let the free market decide. it was interesting to see him endorse oil as the best source of energy

  • @thedaoofplus1 I don't think he wasn't advocating that gov't artificially support oil. He was just saying that in his opinion that it is currently the best mass-energy. I agree with him.

  • @hellevonequities i dont agree or disagree. all i know is that oil does not have a fair market price because of the subsidies. it gets more expensive to produce every year and the subsidies seem to increase every year. i dont care if its the so called best energy scource, i just want it to be fairly priced. the market will decide from there.

  • @hellevonequities personally i dont care about mass energy, i think we should all be responsible for our own. i would prefer to produce my own energy.

  • some one did. henry ford buit and fueled cars with hemp. then the federal government promptly outlawed it because people could grow their own fuel with out being taxed at the gas pump.
