Awesome video series! I watched all your videos! What is your opinion on Keyboard Workstations like the Roland Fantom G8? What Keyboard Workstations do film composers use?

In general, most film composers are using a MIDI keyboard controller (soundless), however, there's no reason you can't use the Roland Fantom, you just have to set it up to run audio out. Otherwise the MIDI connections are usually the same, depending on your setup.

This is awesome!!! Your like the best kept secret! I've been so blessed by this. I have a question about workstations like the Roland Fantom G8. Is is smart to spend the money a get it. What are the pros and cons of using a harware workstation like this? Would it be ideal to get a computer workstation and intergrate it with a the Fantom G8. What is you're opinion on the subject? Are film composers using hardware workstations? I would be intrested and anything you know on the subject.

@BrandonHaydonMusic: I can't really give you the pros and cons because it depends on what you're producing. The trend is for computers with virtual instruments replacing the hardware since the virtual instruments replace the hardware keyboards and are more compact. Most recording takes place within the computer or a separate computer system running Pro Tools.
