  • This video went viral on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

  • This video went viral on Quito

  • @galenblake821 Realy, I didn't had an idea how much it was viewed. Help it serves some one with useful info.

  • kinda freaked me out :{

  • Im getting a no buS code on the odemeter, all research says the dash needs to come out and replace a pig tail is there any thing else it could be, i parked it was running great 3 days later will not start, turns over but wont hit a lick. please help

  • Well, once I was driving and it gave me the same "No Bus"Code, while doing that, the needle of the gauges went to the minimum range. I hit the dash and it worked again, but the kept on doing it. Then I decided to push the cluster inward with my hands and it have been working fine since then. Try that before changing the connector. If it doesn't work, then try removing the cluster and cleaning the connectors with WD-40 or similar product. Wish you luck and thanks for watching.

  • @andersoncity In your case it's not the connector to the dash, it's the crank position sensor. It's on the located on the bellhousing. $90ish if I remember. One tip to changing it: the bolts can be difficult to get to---try a long (really long) chain of extensions with a socket and ratchet.

  • why dose it have 2 mil lights

  • It doesn't has to Malfunction Indicator Lights, it does has indicators for Up Shift, Low Washer, ABS System and Low Fuel, each of these also are amber colored. But it only has one MIL.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Whats funny is that you think you're the only one that knows about this....Caravan's do this too..

  • Hello and thanks for watching, I'm not assuming I'm the only one that know this, but like to share the knowledge. As a matter of fact, OBD I Caravans and other Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth vehicles can be scanned with out using a hand held scanner simply but cycling the ignition key from Off position to on position with out cranking the engine for 3 times. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) would be displayed via a series of flashes from the Check Engine Light.

  • @jomelmaldonado I didnt know that the older ones could do it but I do know that my 03 gc can do that. But I have a digital odometer so it just tosses a code for me to look up lol

  • Well, they do it, and I also heard that it can be scanned simply by rotating the ignition key to the Run position with out cranking the engine, for 3 times. It will start blinking the Check Engine Lamp and will output the code, if it has any code stored.

    Thanks for watching my videos.

  • Hey, I have a 2001 cherokee xj and he will not start more;( The immobilizer goes on and he say in the Odometer displayed "no buS" Do you have any idea what I can make?? Thanks and greets!

  • Thanks for the video man, I couldn't find this info anywhere else. My check engine light came on my '00 cherokee, I ran the test and didn't get any engine codes. I'm guessing It's something with the transmission. Going to have someone run an OBDII scan on it.

  • did the OBD test on my 00' cherokee, no code appeared but engine lights still on. runs fine, fluids all good. any tips or hints?

  • I suggest you to use an OBD II compatible scanner then. It maybe a transmission code, or any other type of code non related to the Engine Control Module. This test only displays engine codes.

  • Wow... That's pretty osszáám

  • Hey. I have a 2004 jeep wrangler and my cluster guage got wet when mudding... I found a new one but its a 99 grand cherokee sport. The gauge looks the same. I was wondering if they are compatible.

  • I'm not sure for the grand Cherokee's. I do know the the Cherokee and Wrangler are compatible. But, it's wort trying. If it plugs in, probably it will work since these car have CAN Bus communication.

  • Hi got a 99 TJ. All the warning lights on the panel work but none of the guages or odeometer.....tried a new panel and exactly the same....all the warning lights including the waning sound for low fuel but no guages....any ideas? ta...

  • yah, if the new cluster is from a Jeep Grand Cherokee, it shuld be compatible w/ ur Jeep :D

  • hey man i got a 97 wrangler and all my guages stoped working one day and i tried everything and traced wires for hours and went over everything all the safety lights work on the cluster but the needles dont work someone help

  • Hey did anyone evre a\nswer this one for you

  • hey jomel i have a 98 cherokee and all my guages suddenly stopped working when i was leaving work one day including the odometer which is digital ive done a bunch of research and came across this video and i tried the test and it all ran through all the guages and everything worked just like in your video however no code came up afterward any ideas?

  • After changing the cluster, originally had the cheap one, had same problem, also odometer displayed "no can" but engine kept running fine. This is an internal communication failure between the ECM and instrument cluster. I resolved the problem by applying force to the cluster pushing it forward with the my fingers. Remember there's to plugs that provide power and data the the cluster, probably there's the problem. Also can apply WD-40 there. If not, it could be a faulty ground.

  • thanks for all your help it turned out to be a bad ground replaced it and its all working fine again

  • You're welcome, any other questions, feel free to ask, if I don't know the answer, I'll try to answer it to my best knowledge. Thanks for watching my videos.

  • @k3border hey i was jujst wondering do you know where the ground is located for the instrument cluster on the 98 jeep cherokee

  • Will the "part time" light illuminate on 4x4 models?

  • Yes, mine is a 4X4 and it lights on when I engage them. The transfer case has a switch that send the signal to the cluster.

  • My check engine light is on in my 2000 XJ sport. Will this give me the diagnostic codes?

  • No, this only makes a needle movement. There's a procedure that works on all OBD I and most OBD II Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles.

Put key in ignition, turn key to run (not start), then off, then run, then off, then run (3 runs and 2 offs). Leave key in the run position.

Check engine light will start flashing. Flashes are counting out 2-digit codes if it's an OBD I.

OBD II with digital odo. may display the trouble code on the odo. with a letter P followed by a 4 digit code.

  • I have the digital odometer in mine. I did the three runs and two offs and left it in the on mode within 5 seconds and nothing happened.

  • I'm sorry for that, the other option would be connecting an OBD II automotive scanner to the J1962 port.

  • Hi. Jomel, you seem pretty informed about this stuff. I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee 2.5L 4cyl 5spd manual. Do you know if the same swap would work for me? Do you know where I can get the cluster?

    Thanks

  • doing this doesnt fix the gas guage by any chance does it. it works, but its 1/8th of a tank off.

  • No, it doesn't re calibrates the needle. Either you have an excessive resistance between the fuel level sensor and the gauge, or the needle is misaligned or the sensor in the tank is out of calibration.

  • I have a ZJ 1998 Laredo and I cannot perform this check.

Could you help me?! I did all steps but with no sucess.

I don't know if the parking light is relevant. what is it?! I hope my jeep have this funcionality.

Thanks in advance for your support.

    Regards,

  • Apparently it should work on most Chrysler vehicles, but have not tested it on a ZJ. I think it should work since you're ZJ in more sophisticated then my XJ. Mine is the SE trim level, the cheapest one, only with another cluster from a Sport trim level.

  • dude im doin this right now........

  • hey i tried this on my dodge ram and it worked!! thanks alot!!

  • Probably it will work on many Dodge's and Jeeps after 1996 that have a Digital Odometer.

  • with cluster self check? when do have to press reset push button on speedometer?

  • Press and hold the reset button, then turn ignition to Run, but don't crank the engine, the let go of the reset button. It will start the Self Test Diagnosis.

  • According with the Haynes Repair Manual, quote "The system on 1997 and later models utilizes a control module mounted under the driver's seat"

If you have a 1997 or later Cherokee Model, this is you're case. Probably the control module is damaged with oxidation on the plug or internally due to direct contact with water. If so you should change the module. Be specially careful when working with airbag systems. Preferably take it to a certified person. Hope this info. help you.

  • You think if i unplug it will it make the air bag go off?

  • Yes, it should go off, but it wont deploy in an accident. If you only use it off road, that's probably OK, but if its a daily driver, you're putting your self and passenger in some risk if any accident occurred. Probably it's illegal in you're state to eliminate the airbag system.

If you still decide to disconnect the control module, remember to first disconnect the negative battery terminal, wait 2 minutes or more so the internal capacitor is discharged. Then disconnect the control module.

  • Wow thx i never knew that

  • You're welcome. In my case, I intentionally created an error code, but it didn't displayed the DTC on the Odometer, but mine is a Jeep Cherokee and I think they display the code on the Jeep Wrangler's, but anyway, it's an interesting feature that I discovered reading in the internet and decided to test it.

  • My air bag light is on after i sank it in the water and fill the inside with water to the seats and i donno why

  • Check your VIN number at a Jeep dealer. There was a recall for 97-98 Cherokees to remount the Airbag Control Module from under the driver's seat to underneath the front of the center console. This may apply to you and best of all, it will be a free repair!
