  • How long have people being riding recumbent bikes backwards ?

  • @HumanRightsVideosT We are doing it since 2001, backwards on two wheels. I don't know for any other team doing the same anytime in the history, but we are the fastest, that's for sure. Thus our vehicles are unique and have substantial advantages. Francesco Russo learned to drive backwards in two days.

Learning new techniques would probably be good for your brain. Has Francesco been involved in road racing or normal time trials ?

One year I did normal 40km time trials for about 5 weeks in a row. I found my time decreased on average by about a minute every week as I got used to the effort. One hour time trials are very tough. If I wasn't fully fit I would take it easy for the first half and ride hard for the last 30 minutes.

My experience of riding a tandem is that the acceleration in a sprint is slow but once you get it wound up it is very fast and stays wound up much longer than a single bike. Speed over a flying 200m wouldn't really show this.

    60 miles = 96.56 km

Maybe doing something like 10 miles in 10 minutes or 20 in 20 minutes or 30 in 30 minutes would be milestones to aim for.

As the US is into imperial units maybe someone like Greg Lemond or Lance Armstrong might be interested in joining your team. Lance tried marathons and was originally a triathlete

Having the widest part of your body (shoulders) first makes a lot of sense to me for aerodynamic reasons, because I guess you can get closer to the tear-drop shape.

According to wikipedia the 1 hour record has increased by more than 12km in only 13 years. I guess 13 years ago when the record was 79 km you probably didn't dream about doing more than 90km in an hour.

Many people have heard of the first person to climb Mt Everest. But anyone who knows about the first climb of Everest knows it was a team effort and a team of 2 made it to the top first.

    .

Your crew and the people who have collaborated with you have achieved heaps and your videos show that. If you get a cyclist who has broken records on upright bikes to push the record higher and his name goes in the record books it doesn't matter.

The time and $ required to build a rocket capable of going well over 90kph must be huge. I guess its your mission in life and good on you. When are you going to have time to get fit ?

    .

Graeme Obree was an innovator and I think he built his own bikes (but of course the UCI wasn't keen on his type of bikes). If you want another person to get involved I suggest he might be a possibility.

I would be fascinated to know how fast Graeme could go in one of your rocket ships.
