This song was originally on the Kingston Trio album CHILDREN OF THE MORNING. For all you John Stewart fans, it's essentially a Stewart album (he wrote 10 of the 12 songs on it) with Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds backing him up.
@Nefarioso - well, yes and no. Stewart was no fool and wanted the best platform for those songs - so the leads on many of them are sung by Bob Shane, who had the best voice in the group by far and one of the great voices of the pop-folk era.
In the early 8O's it was hard in France to see such a concert.I got a recording from TV in NTSC.I asked a company to transcode it but it was very very expensive;.. So an employee did me a favor and I understand he filmed the screen with a camcorder without telling his boss so I first saw the document almost witout any colours.LMuch later of course I bought the DVD in full colours.Great memories Thanks for posting.
Well there is not much to say about this song except....DAMN. This is what music is all about. Lindsey learns from John's records and becomes a star. Then he goes back and pays back John by producing John's biggest hit. I am a huge John fan as well as Fleetwood Mac. With Lindsey and Stevie singing on Gold it sounded like a Fleetwood Mac song. It reminds me of Jerry Garcia and his work with David Grisman. Thanks Lindsey. RIP Picker.
@foppa123 Bombs Away Dream Babies is an amazing album. It's one of those albums that I keep going back to over and over along with ELO's Out of The Blue, Gorillaz's Demon Days, Black Flag's Damaged and The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. Just a well made album.
I'm a John Stewart fan from WAY back in the Trio days. (I'm 58.) Saw him do the Phoenix Concerts live. Such a shame he's gone. But no matter how many times I watch this particular performance (I have the DVD), I get goose bumps. What an incredible duet.
Thats great. I met Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac a couple years back when they were on tour. I got to go backstage. Lindsey was real quiet. I guess kind of like you see him on album covers with that look. His personality matched that deep look you see in his pictures. Thanks for posting.!
You're welcome. Thanks for your great comment!! You are VERY lucky to have met Lindsey!! I'm jelaous. By the way, I heard he was quiet too, but very nice and down to earth. (:
I was a radio announcer for years and had an interview show. They played near by and the PR company sent me their latest CD and a backstage pass. I've interviewed a lot of famous people but I must say I was starstruck.
Thanks for the info.!! I would be TOTALLY starstruck if I met Lindsey!! I have met a few famous people (Barbara Eden, Paula Abdul, etc...) in the past too while working at a record store in Los Angeles many years ago. However, it was no big deal for me though. The only person on this planet that would make my heart skip a beat, etc... is Lindsey. (:
We were taken backstage after the show and a guy came out and told about 20 of us that the band would be coming in, no autographs, don't talk to Stevie cuz her voice was going bad and they still had a lot of the tour left, and basically just walk through, shake hands..say hi. Mick Fleetwood grabbed me and my ex-gf and put his arms around us and told us to take a pic..lol That pic is on a hard drive that I can't find;....makes me sick that I lost it.
I love Lindsey!!!!!

Thanks for posting this. A great tune, featured on "Bombs away..." Wish that an B-Nicks would be re-released as remastered versions.

First saw this years ago, never forgot it. Great to see it again. Only recently realized Lindsey is wearing the striped shirt in tribute to the Trio.
