Marriage predates any of the organized religions in practice in the US today, so none of them can claim it as their own. But if you want to take it down that road, Jews don't consider Christianity to be the correct religion. Christian marriages are based on Jewish tradition, so the US government shouldn't recognize Christian marriages as valid.

Most of the arguments against gay marriage are the same sort that were used against interracial marriage here in America. Racists could just as easily call interracial marriage a case of "special rights" by arguing that people already could marry within their own race, thus the plea to marry inter racially was something extra. Marriage predates any of the organized religions in practice in the US today, so none of them can claim it as their own. But if you want to take it down that road, Jews don't consider Christianity to be the correct religion. Christian marriages are based on Jewish tradition, so the US government shouldn't recognize Christian marriages as valid.

Most of the arguments against gay marriage are the same sort that were used against interracial marriage here in America. Racists could just as easily call interracial marriage a case of "special rights" by arguing that people already could marry within their own race, thus the plea to marry inter racially was something extra. that part really resonated with me, I'm not American, or homosexual, but the "American Dream" as they call it, really is stymied from LGBT Americans by fucked up separatists like Bachmann.
But we know Bachmann has -always- been a toolbox full of hate, and now like a hater with no spit left, she can make like a bee with no stinger and fucking drop dead.

I think the gay marriage issue needs to go to the supreme court. I think the 14th amendment equal protection clause along with the intermediate scrutiny test with respect to sex discrimination would be a slam dunk to allow all gays to get married in the US. Have they ruled on gay marriage before?

Should have followed up with the question "Why does the law discriminate, on the basis of gender, who a person can marry?" I really hate the "special treatment" argument that she used.

If Miichelle bacjman does ever watch this she's gonna wanna take everything back simply for your last statement. I also totally agree. As a bisexual person I find it terribly difficult to find anywhere I'm not discriminated against. Gay and straight people get on my case about "Making up my mind". I think there need to be more people like you who are open minded about many different issues. Thanks fo another great video Mr. LatumWay =)

@TrickerAndy It was my understanding that bisexuals vary in their preference for each sex - some prefering men, others women, but both ultimately being attracted to both men and women in varying proportions.

As far as I'm concerned, America is gonna get gay marriage Christians or no. I think that the people are America are better by far than the people that represent them. The reason these bung-holes get elected is because people play party politics. IE, "My dad voted republican sooo..."

Bachman fails to understand emotional needs. She characterizes homosexual relationships as unhealthy sexual fixations. To say a man's needs may be better fufilled by a man than a woman would be self-deprecating.
Bachman's view is focused on herself; she lacks capacity to see beyond her own life.
I pity Bachman. Her lack of empathy is effectively mental illness. Her marriage to a likely gay man must be equated to continually trying to fill a void. It is truly saddening.
