Real Country music indeed how often can you see 2 Great men who helped build that industry in a video like this i'm proud to say that Faron Young and Jim Reeves are both in the Country Music Hall Of Fame long live Faron and Jim.
This is a great tune written by Ted Daffan. Tex Ritter recorded it in 1950. Webb Pierce changed the lyrics in 1953 and took it to #1 calling it "Its been so long."
Faron had a top five hit with the original in 1955.
Somebody could probably adapt the tune to modern lyrics today and have a top hit.
I do believe that is Jim Reeves you see briefly in the foreground, and the man in the checkered pants who dances (the checkered pants and apron were probably a nod to Purina, the sponsor) is Clell "Cousin Jody" Summey, a dobro legend and if i remember correctly also a cohort of Lonzo and Oscar
@jawaha75243 Yeah, I noticed Jim Reeves, too, Jawaha. And if it WASN'T Jim Reeves, well, it must have been his long-lost twin! It certainly LOOKED like him. I think you're right.
Yeah, he definitely incorporated different genres. He had that "Live fast" style at one point, but he also borrowed from Hank, Lefty & Webb. This song actually uses the melody from Webb Pierce's "It's been so long."
Actually both Faron and Ray Price were friends of Hank Williams Sr after his breakup with Audrey. Ray and Hank were roommates, or lived in the same house, and I believe Faron introduced Hank to his second wife Billie Jean According to a story Faron told in an interview He and Hank were double dating two girls, and Billie was Faron's date, but Hank stuck a gun in his face while they were in the restroom and "persuaded" him to trade dates
Love Country
