Saw Purple last saturday nite at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL with an orchestra and they put on an excellant display of music and talent. Steve Morse had the audience in the palm of his hand, as did the rest of the band.
I saw these guys in 1986.Unbelievable! I have been a drummer for 40+ years and I now realize how much of Ian Paice's style I picked up over the years. He is is ridiculous.Deep Purple rules, even without Blackmore and Lord.
I saw Deep Purple, and that night was one of two greatest nights in my life. In february 2008 I've gone on Deep Purple show. 40 days after I've gone on Iron Maiden. And 3 months later I've seen Megadeth. The better year!!!!! And Deep Purple...well, Gillan, Glover and Steve shows for everyone what is to play after 40 years with the same happiness of the beggining. They really rocks!!!
Well I think Morse era is very very very interesting and brilliant, but I got a problem with Steve: his t-shirts!!!! Especially the one with the wolf is bad taste! Plz Steve try something different! Don't get me wrong, I love your guitar playing but do something about that asap ;-P
I've watched Deep Purple twice Live. They are awesome. Even though not all of them stayed the rest of them are still great. And the new additions are really awesome too. This song specially is really great. But i still tend to listen a bit more to highway star xD
I remember a couple years ago sitting in their van next to Roger Glover heading the concert in Barcelona. Sat on stage to watch them play, then heading back to the hotel for drinks... a great night!
I can`t say I like the new purple stuff after the 80`s. Perfect Strangers was a great album, there`s no denying that at all but they shifted musically into new territory. It`s not their fault at all, they`ve gone through so many shifts in musical direction...it`s to be expected. At least they haven`t been clutching a niche for 40 years but I miss Mark 2 era Purple from their prime. Every band has to grow though so...as much as I`m not a fan of the new stuff, god bless them for staying
this is the first time i listen to this song, and im loving it !! its only this summer that im getting into deep p, coz i got a concert on the 25th, so i'm listening to all their hits, and their AMAZING!
Blackmore is my favorite guitar player of all time, but he quit Deep Purple twice. A fine musician but volumes have been written about how he was an asshole to work with.
I think that Morse is doing a great job of carrying on the DP torch, much like Don Airey taking over Jon Lord's position. Lord gave Airey his personal stamp of approval as far as filling his shoes. This song is Deep Purple to the bone.
I'm sure there is someone in your family that's asshole too. Don't get me wrong but, It's a thing called character. Gillan couldn't stand that. Ritchie did not hold the band ransom so he moved on. Have a good day.
Yeah, we can all be assholes, but that wasn't the point that I was making about Ritchie, and how the other members were taken down with his prima-donna attitude, especially Gillan.
I was a fan of Deep Purple before you were born, mate. You don't need to call me out on things.
I do not know, how do your comment fit with my reply to another member. Most important I like your ideas and wish all the best for You. Keep up hard work.
You said: "I'm sure there is someone in your family that's asshole too. Don't get me wrong but, It's a thing called character."
Being an asshole is character? That makes it sound like it's a charming quirk, some eccentric personality defect. It's not. If you're an asshole, you're an asshole.
Do not reply again as your comment do not make sense. What I said in first place was taken wrongly by another member, so I said sorry to him. Being asshole and the character thing were two different issues. I'm sure it don't concern you so enjoy your day as I try to enjoy mine. Thank you.
My comment makes perfect sense. You said that being an asshole is something called character. I don't see how you can argue with that - you DID say it.
And now you're trying to run. Well, be my guest. Run away.
Sadly for you, this is the internet and anyone can read what anyone else says on Youtube. If you want to have a private conversation, there's a perfectly serviceable messaging facility. Otherwise, public domain. templeoffence was replying to MikeG62 and I replied to templeoffence. The circle never closes.

Wowa, I didn't expect this album to be this good.. it's a different style than they used to play when Ritchie Blackmore and the others were still in the band.
I do prefer Ritchie Blackmore over Steve Morse, but I agree Morse is a really, really talented guitar player. But I just love Blackmore's diversity, his riffs and his solo's. And be fair: most of the stuff Morse plays nowadays is written by Blackmore..
I'll probably get slaughtered for saying this, but if you want to talk about assholes in bands...Lennon acted like an asshole towards the end of The Beatles.
@QueenReigns1 You're right. I know those guitarists. We had a one of them and he was asshole and still is. Practices was like until he got out and after that we have had so much better time.
