Growing up in the 60's alot of the buildings and street lamps were very detailed compared to today, but then, the buildings and street lamps in my time were from back then, most was built by hand, today, just a machine that copies everything.. Its nice to see these old pictures, thanks for posting..
Very nice montage. As a person who loves traditional urban design I really appreciate all the shots of sidewalks and storefronts. The musical score was a nice touch too.
Buddy is accompanied by - in fact the record is credited to - a then struggling bandleader by the name of BENNY GOODMAN. Later in 1934 he would hit on radio and in '35 take the country by storm...
I appreciate these pictures because they don't just show the '30s of memory: New York, the Dustbowl, Appalachia and Hollywood - you see small, busy cities, with businesses looking tidy and proud.
the 30s were pure style!!!!!!!!! music was great. clothes styles were just great!!!! everything was made with pride and quality!!! my flat is all 30s style. check out my hoover videos!! everything made today is CRAP!!!!!
i LOVE THIS ERA, THE ERA OF FAMILY STICK TOGETHERNESS, GREAT FILMS AND THE GREATEST GENERATION AND THE DEAD END KIDS. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR. THANKS FOR POSTING.
I loved to live back then, everything seems so simple and great. I know theres still things like sicknesses and the great depression, but i think theres a better set of values everyone had because they didn't have tons of things to waste time on.
Sidescrollin, accidently gave your comment a thumbs down. Sorry. I agree, and I've often longed for the 1800's. But I finally realize I must appreciate what God gave me.
Hey has anyone seen the newest land rover advert, its got this old song playing on it and I think it's from this sort of music era. It goes like this "A-biddle-dee-A-biddle-do-a-bab-bab-bab-bab-biddly-biddly-bo...."(And so on) It goes really fast like that.
Does anyone know the name of the song? I'd REALLY like to find it. Oh, and, great video!
hell yea it wasnt so simple for blacks either.Jim crow laws etc. Only simplier for "certian" people. But yea i guess it would be nice to live in that time if i knew i WOULD BE TREATED EQUAL. But on a lighter note nice music
i wouldve loved to see and lived in the 40's with the mafia, and the 50's for the classic cars. and the 60's to see the jfk+rfk assisnation and for the cars too
Everyone knows this period had its real problems. In spite of that knowledge, it still looks like a nice place to visit from todays perspective. Until they invent the real "time machine", your video provides the vehicle for that visit. Very nice pairing of video and audio. Probably the best description is simply "Cool". Thank you.
I must say the voice on this recording does not sound like Buddy Clark. He was certainly recoginizable on "I've got my fingers crossed". I am more familiar with his efforts on "Linda, Old lamp lighter, and "Dreamers Holiday.
Recorded sometime between 1934-1937. The orchestra was Benny Goodman's. He did sing this one more in the style of the late twenties, but his Brooklyn accent comes through when he sings "Woid" for word and "Hoid" for heard.
Well made video and excellent music, thank you very much.

I would have to guess he would fall under the heading of 1930's vocalists. Most libraries will have Buddy Clark compilation cd's.

i wished i lived in that era,, so beautiful and peaceful, no problems just good times (sighs)

Of course, there were such things as polio, the Great Depression... still, it WAS a lot simpler.

"Brooklyn accent"? Buddy (born Samuel Goldberg) came from Dorchester, MA.
