"I personally don't care how it looks....to a certain extend"
So does the whole DeathBall Community actually. We don' t need an "OMG AWESOME" look to play this game, we never did actually. But still, producers don' t want to hear about that and think only about the general public.
Unique look, it would be a nice point that' s sure. But it doesn' t mean that you can' t get some inspiration from the universes that are fashionable nowadays, like Heroic Fantasy ;)
For instance it could be good to make graphisms to parody the common universes ( Heroic Fantasy, World War 2, Sci-Fi...). Cartoon-like skins can be fine for that. Look at Sega Soccer Slam for example. It was fun to play and not overwhelmingly beautiful, just nice to look at ;)
Keeping is easier and a lot fairer now. The game design improved...away from the old randomness and balls going half through players and them not being able to volley it away.
Stand alone will be done, when the moment is right.
The game is just very unique and the money obsessed publishers don't really get it yet.
I know the story with the publishers I come sometimes on DeathBall forums ( I posted some days ago ). As some players already said, it' s all about skins. Try to make it look better and I' m sure they' ll get it ;)
It might be a good point to have a unique look, in order to capture people. This usual battle machine look. Tough guys in huge armor....how boring does it get? If you look through the game shelves every 2nd game looks like that.
And actually something is being made about the overal look of the game right now, but I'm hardly involved. I leave this to others, because I only make the game play nice. I personally don't care how it looks....to a certain extend. But I gave a rough guideline.

Deathball seems to be as fun as years ago.
Seems quite hard to keep the goals though, doesn' t it ?
Need to play again, but I don' t have UT2K4 any more :(
Come on David we need standalone, I' m sure you can do it :D
