I just saw this movie a few days ago. Better than part 2 and part 3, but the acting still blows. It seems the producers still believed that over the top special effects would carry this movie. The only redeeming value of this film was that Vin Diesel was in it. He seems to still be convincing even with a terrible script.
What he said made sense to me... He's just saying what he wants in a script isn't as important as what the people want, and the people wanted the Dom they knew from The Fast and the Furious. I guess the implication was he would have changed the character for this movie but didn't to appease the fans.

I love Howard but he is wrong about the Fast and Furious movies and not only that they made great money (except the second one) at the box office.I think there was somethin personal for Howard to go in on him,and Artie probably just jabbeb him just cuz.And Vins had some other great movies,Pitch Black,Chronicles of Riddick, Triple X,Babylon AD.

@EffLabels If you read my comment properly, you would have noticed that I said that "some" southern Italians have Moorish blood, I never used the word "all". It's kind of impossible to know what the original Latin people looked like, but since they came from the Latium area near Rome, I would figure they looked pretty similar to modern-day central Italians - not swarthy like Arabs, not fair like Germans, but somewhere in the middle.

You do know Sicily was colonized by Greeks, and I can see continutity if you look at a Greek, an Italian and a Spainard, they all tend to have a similer 'look', and I beleive this look is the standrad Mediteranian apperance.Someone like Sinatra (in my opinion) looks more nordic than Italian. Someone like Martin Scorcese would be my idea of how a Med looks

@EffLabels Yes, Sicily was originally populated by Greeks, but Greeks have a very diverse gene pool themselves. Since the eastern Mediterranean has been a center of culture and trade for thousands of years, alot of different cultures from very far away places have passed through.

I just saw this movie a few days ago. Better than part 2 and part 3, but the acting still blows. It seems the producers still believed that over the top special effects would carry this movie. The only redeeming value of this film was that Vin Diesel was in it. He seems to still be convincing even with a terrible script.
The ending sucked ass.

What he said made sense to me... He's just saying what he wants in a script isn't as important as what the people want, and the people wanted the Dom they knew from The Fast and the Furious. I guess the implication was he would have changed the character for this movie but didn't to appease the fans.
I've heard far more inarticulate ramblings if that's what apparently makes him stupid.

The reason why people rag on VD is because people see him as a poser.
He tries to come off as this introspective intellectual with a broad vernacular, but in reality he's just this bouncer from a New York night club that got lucky in Hollywood because he can portray a stereotypical bald badass. That's a good formula for a certain genre of movies.
Case in point: I've even heard him in interviews comparing himself to Stephen Spielberg.
