Nevermind about my previous comments of the socom, somewhat. I just learned that the socom has - Auto Aim. Ha ha.
Now, it's easier. But still unpredictably hard to beat this level without using rations. I just completed this part without damage once I learned about autoaim.
Also, if you need to aim, you use just the top and left directional buttons. There's little need for the other two button direction pad. Heh heh.
All I want is to beat this stage without using a ration. Sometimes, I can do it. Sometimes, I can't.
iT REALLY pisses me off because I just cannot learn how to handle the SOCOM controls. It's so hard. And there's not a lot of practice on using the socom because this is a stealth game, so you're not using it alot and the controls are fucked up. I just cannot adapt to it. iT'S ALWAYS the first wave of soliders. The fucker ont he left always gets me.
How many attempts did this take you? I just cant do this, i either get hit instantly or Meryl doesnt shoot at all in the next wave so i eventually get hit. Punching at the door only works for me sometimes, the rest of the time they just run in and knock me over straight away.
O yeah im doing minimal kills (big boss) which makes it hard for me lol, might have to restart and get the socom in the truck and add a minute :P Is there a particluar strat for the punching at the door, like if you hold them there Meryl will own them quickly?
I'm not sure what the exact numbers are, but I think minimum alerts is 3; this one, when you enter the first tower, and when you lose the PAL key at Rex.
As for kills, you have to kill at least five guards in the escape tunnel. I'm not sure if you can blow the barrel before entering the tunnel without killing anyone. Other than that, you don't have to kill anyone. I don't remember if the bosses count as kills either.
To me, MGS1 is pretty easy, even in a Big Boss run. Probably because I've played it so many times. MGS2, however, is hell. I almost wanted to give up on some of the bosses. MGS3 is much easier again. In my first European Extreme run, I beat The Pain without taking damage on my second attempt, without even trying. That really surprised me, after the somewhat hard Ocelot. Other than him, only Volgin is pretty hard.
I've played MGS2 the most. I started playing on European Extreme a while ago. I'm on the harier. But then MGS4 came. I got Big Boss emblem and all the other 39 emblems. It was a real bitch but I feel happy doing such an amazing thing. Do you have MGS4?
Yes, I even have two videos of MGS4. I started playing on The Boss Extreme, but had to stop as my friend wanted his PS3 back. I'll get it back next month, though. Well, good job on getting all the emblems. I'll do my best to get them myself during autumn.

lol at the kinda one-year-late reply comment

You have to be pretty precise with the aiming, but the basic idea is bullet spamming.

do you think the Johnny character in this game is any kind of a reference (besides having the same name) to the one in FF7, or vice versa....?

This only took a few attempts. Compared to the rope descent and the second elevator battle, this was very easy.

try 0 kills o rations o alerts
when you get to this part you have to punch them unconcious
kanedaking 3 years ago
You can't do 0 kills and 0 alerts, but I've done minimum kills and alerts several times before. Maybe I'll do it again some day and record it.

hey.. what is the minium kills and minimum alerts?

Thanks. I've heard people say the bike chase while getting Big Boss Rank is even harder than when Solidus chokes you in MGS2. Damn...

That guy that got stripped by Meryl will be definitely seen a lot later in the series, no foreshadowing or anything, no spoilers intended I hope.
