These event are why people loved WORLD OF WARCRAFT back in the days. Unique world event, where you could move outside from the cities, and do something OUTSIDE, IN THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT. Now everyone just sits on their asses in the 2 major cities, and queue BGs, dungeons from there. Cities of Warcraft.
If anyone wants to play Pre-BC and BC servers, goto wow-one dot com, pick which server you want to play on, and follow the instructions and register. There's even a download link for the 1.12 patch.

Blizzard should seriously consider server events on a scale like this again. The servers are upgraded and should be able to withstand massive events like these.

I think we all agree wow was on his top in BC, Vanilla had some great stuff, but getting disconected all the time isn't so great as some of you may think. The game was just still in development: mechanics were terrible, the game had a lot of bugs, and pvp was just horrible.
You guys actually don't miss vanilla, you miss the feeling to start something new and fresh. Remember molten core, no one can tell me this was an exiting time.

for preTBC lovers check my channel - you are going to love it. I play on a blizzlike private server with raids that come out fully scripted. we are currently doing MC and ZG so you wont miss much :) And if you have a lvl 60 or above in retail then you get a free lvl 60 in our realm :)
Sadly, for the way the in game storyline has turned, we are unlikely to ever see an event like this again, involving hundreds of players all working in tandem. That said, I actually think it would be cool to see the qiraji eventually become a playable race.
You guys are either retarded or really never played Vanilla. It was pretty bad. The game is better now in almost every sense apart from the nostalgia factor. You guys look at this and say the Grass is greener on the other side but ever PVP in Vanilla? Unbalanced as shit. Ever raided? 40 man lag much? I started out in Vanilla so I don't know that much about it since I was a newbie then. But in both Vanilla and TBC( remember this is my opinion )it was simple but still a really fun game. Sure, the graphics, sounds etc has improved much but the charm is gone. All we have now is rude heirloom bastards when you're leveling and almost everyone on the server is 85 with some epics. I remember that it felt like a journey from 1-70 and it was fun to just level and the raids were also epic
@Nickpatient I got to admit though, I still enjoy the game now also and I shouldn't complain really hehe. The only thing I really hate these days are the damn players, the social part is dead compared to vanilla/tbc in my opinion.

@eggslayer2121 Fo' sho'. The sheer number of materials that were needed as well as the fact that any level player could contribute to the 'war effort' made it a truly memorable event. I remember booking the morning off work, having logged off in Silithus the night before,I logged in just before the time that the gong would be rung. My latency was 1000+ and I stared at a frozen screen for a few minutes, then I was dead. It sucked at the time, but looking back, it was brilliant. :D
Its so epic from the view of a gnome! I only hope Cataclysm bring this years back.... But the past is the past, and Pre-BC times were the best by far although all that hours farming an trying to get items.

Lol guys, I miss pre-bc too but if it were ALWAYS Pre BC, then WoW would have gotten Boring. It's alwyas fun to lvl up and see new stuff, not always lvl up to 60 and see the same stuff all over again.
When people say they miss preBC, what they are really saying is they miss the kind of game it was back then. Epics weren't on welfare, end-game zones were epic 40 man events and etc. Blizzard could of continued what they were doing in classic with MC, BWL, and Naxx on into BC and WoTLK but nope they caved to all the whiners and carebears who complained, since they sucked at the game, that they couldn't do all the zones and get any purples.
@Macr0Micr0 I think at the beginning they wanted to continue the game almost as it was before BC, but that was the time where you still needed a prequest for Karazhan and all the other instances. Now everything is for free and there is no feeling of satisfaction anymore when you get an epic item. Before WotLk you knew what you were playing for.
The old wow is lame think about it, took forever to get a mount really lvl 40.Walking was a bitch at low lvls when i really needed the mount then,and when i do get a mount its no fun. Example, its like giving a car to a old man who will die in 3 days whats the point. lvling from 50 to 60 took forever.Lol i never got a chance to do those old raids,about time i hit lvl 60 was when romurs of wowlk THE END :)

I still "like".. WoW, but classic times I say "luv" because it was more challenging ever since ppl were lv1. Also, these instances/raids have been long forgotten by most, or noobs that don't even know anything about 'em.. currently my newborn undead-lock(60) is doing vanilla style, Lol!
Yeah this event was nice and all, but LK is where WOW shines. Before almost no one was able to get gear good enough to do endgame content like Naxx40, BT and SW. Granted the emblem systems have its flaws but now more people can take a shot at the LK. I don't miss vanilla at all. BC was good though.
@plutarch78 I must agree on a few points because i never had the chance to play vanilla , at the end of the day i do wish i had been there for such a memorable moment in wow's history but you can still get these moments within the game today ... and it allows more players to see endgame content not just those who can play night and day , Blizz have done us a favour by giving us the chance to have a life and be able to raid

@arnovs1989 Totally agree with this comment. The game felt epic and gearing up was a constant challenge, but compelling. Everything was fresh and exciting. Now it comes down to doing enough heroics and epics get handed to you on a platter.
The old zones are the best zones. I will miss Mulgore come Cataclysm.

in pe bc times it was something special 2 kill c´thun or the or 2 see him after the twins.
now every kid can say "i have killed the lich king"
its a great feeling 2 stand in front of a "boss" with 40 man .

@eggslayer2121 Fo' sho'. The sheer number of materials that were needed as well as the fact that any level player could contribute to the 'war effort' made it a truly memorable event. I remember booking the morning off work, having logged off in Silithus the night before,I logged in just before the time that the gong would be rung. My latency was 1000+ and I stared at a frozen screen for a few minutes, then I was dead. It sucked at the time, but looking back, it was brilliant. :D

When people say they miss preBC, what they are really saying is they miss the kind of game it was back then. Epics weren't on welfare, end-game zones were epic 40 man events and etc. Blizzard could of continued what they were doing in classic with MC, BWL, and Naxx on into BC and WoTLK but nope they caved to all the whiners and carebears who complained, since they sucked at the game, that they couldn't do all the zones and get any purples.

@Macr0Micr0 I think at the beginning they wanted to continue the game almost as it was before BC, but that was the time where you still needed a prequest for Karazhan and all the other instances. Now everything is for free and there is no feeling of satisfaction anymore when you get an epic item. Before WotLk you knew what you were playing for.

The old wow is lame think about it, took forever to get a mount really lvl 40.Walking was a bitch at low lvls when i really needed the mount then,and when i do get a mount its no fun. Example, its like giving a car to a old man who will die in 3 days whats the point. lvling from 50 to 60 took forever.Lol i never got a chance to do those old raids,about time i hit lvl 60 was when romurs of wowlk THE END :)

Yeah this event was nice and all, but LK is where WOW shines. Before almost no one was able to get gear good enough to do endgame content like Naxx40, BT and SW. Granted the emblem systems have its flaws but now more people can take a shot at the LK. I don't miss vanilla at all. BC was good though.

@plutarch78 I must agree on a few points because i never had the chance to play vanilla , at the end of the day i do wish i had been there for such a memorable moment in wow's history but you can still get these moments within the game today ... and it allows more players to see endgame content not just those who can play night and day , Blizz have done us a favour by giving us the chance to have a life and be able to raid

The whole atmosphere in wow was so much better... Now it's all about gearscore, 100 types of caps you gotta get, etc ...
Blizzard tries to put too much into wow ... just bring back the simplicity of for example elwynn forest ^^

@arnovs1989 Totally agree with this comment. The game felt epic and gearing up was a constant challenge, but compelling. Everything was fresh and exciting. Now it comes down to doing enough heroics and epics get handed to you on a platter.
The old zones are the best zones. I will miss Mulgore come Cataclysm.

On February 6, 2009, sometime after Patch 3.0.8a, Bornakk posted on the forums that the Ahn'Qiraj gates will automatically be open on all new future realms. He would also later clarify in the thread that there are no plans to have an alternative method to obtain the Black Qiraji Battle Tank.
On February 11, 2009 Server:Nesingwary US was the world's first realm to be opened in this way.
Patch 3.2. The commendation officers in all major cities were removed and replaced with mailboxes.
