  • YTea it was true because i saw the interview with some of the cast members who admitted it, and what made me look for it was my uncle that told us about ti

  • @APPLELICIOUS27

no it wasn't. no you didn't.

  • @APPLELICIOUS27 Actually, it's a bird.

  • Yeah...it's a bird.

  • African crane

  • he was just hanging out come on guys

  • Ok, first off, thanks for your effort but here is a few things. You don't need to magnify that scene, it actually looked worse trying to enhance it. Second, no one killed themself on the set, it was disbuted and proven to be false. What you saw was a stage prop that had broken loose in the backround. Some people actually claimed it was an animal used in the Emerald City shoot but that was never proven either. Sorry folks. This is an old old farce.

  • the movie was made on a plot of land that my family owned..................this is the first time I've admitted this...........to anyone

  • If you look really closely you'll see a mouse cursor

  • Still looks like a bird flapping to me.

  • On the DVD verison...no on the VCR version...wtf?

  • It's a bird if u look at the footage before this scene u can even see it eat garss or peck at the ground and they brought in different animals for filming

  • @lazylady24 on the dvd, its a bird because they used computer animation to make the munchkin into a bird so when people would see it in such high quality, they wouldn't see the munchkin. easily explained. on the vcr version, you can see only what can be described as a hanging man.

  • Okay guys, yes the munchkins were treated so badly that Toto was paided more, that doesn't actully mean it's the munchkin, pay close attention... see that thing coming out is too long to be a short person... and too thin. therefore that is not a person!

  • @Leafcloud99 what else knows how to hang itself? duh.

  • to everyone who thinks this is a bird, it's not. if this was filmed INSIDE how could a bird be there? seriously, common sense people. this man really did kill himself because all of the munchkins were treated badly by the director, cast and crew. go read the articles.

  • @DiamondTornado its a bird. look it up on wikipedia.

  • give me thumbs up if its a bird. thumbs down if its a munchkin. (YOU CAN SEE I THINK ITS A BIRD BECAUSE I SAID THUMBS UP FOR BIRD, AND THUMBS DOWN FOR MUNCHKIN.

  • @arbiterthewolf on the dvd, its a bird because they used computer animation to cover up the munchkin. in the vcr version where there was no way to cover it up, you can see it clearly.

  • now why did that bird have to go commit suicide anyhow?

  • you know what!i totally dont believe you : )

  • Its a giant bird flapping its wings! Can't you see it?

  • @blackhole73 cuz this is the dvd version. look up the vcr version.

  • I've seen an interview with the actors who were in the film. They said it was a guy who hung himself.

  • guys its a bird really no lye i swear to god its a bird trust me on this okay its a bird the dircetor put real live animals in this movie its a bird

  • @maeganratliff1997 look up the original vcr version and you'll see a hanging man. also, look for interviews with the cast. they'll admit that it was a man who hung himself.

  • NEXT TIME GET A BETTER POTATO TO FILM WITH PLEASE..... :D

  • @16kynewell Next time get better lines to get thumbs up

  • it's an emu committing suicide..........

  • Bird.

  • was this filmed with a toaster

  • bird....

  • You'd have to be retarted to not see that it's a bird speading its wings. look at this vid, watch?v=P8YVeMwhDNI&feature=related

Tell me that doesn't look like the real deal.

  • Fake

  • this is the 'new' one they deleated the person and aded a 'bird' but the way they designed the bird its pathetic they shouda left it.........

  • did you record this with a lamp?

  • Cool story bro.

  • I'm sorry but I couldn't see shit since this was taped with a fucking garden gnome...

  • it's neither suicide or sand bag, it is a very large bird people

  • its a goddamn bird not a hanging munchkin for christ sake. Its wing goes out, then in.

  • There are 2 versions of this scene, and one clearly shows something hanging and swaying back and forth. The other shows a large bird pecking the ground and stretching out its wings. Which is real? Which is fake? It'd be hard to fake a bird, no? But a sandbag on a rope. . . ?

  • this version is a bird. the very first one is a man dieing. i have the proof.I HAVE THE TAPE.THE VERY FIRST VIRSION. WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. i'll post it on you tube when i fix my damn webcam. or buy a new one. eather way you need to know its true. you can see his feet twich, dangel, and him sway.*shivers* if anyone wants to know the true stroy i will post it the story and (if i can fix the webcam or get a new one)post the daeth.

  • It's already been debunked. It's not a dead person. No one died on the set. No one committed suicide. Move on already!!!

  • @emeraldsunsets i know what i seen. but if you choose to believe something else. then im fine with that and i respect that. everyone has an opinain, and mine is that the guy died and that they lied. all because you choose to belive something doesnt maen its the right choice. you maybe wrong or i maybe wrong. eather way we have our own opinains.

  • @FunnyLittleRedHead i wanna hear the full story! lol

  • This 0.0005 pixel quality don't help me too much...

  • It's a damn bird, you can clearly see it stretch its wings in the movie. Jesus christ

  • ITS A BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!! REWIND TO THE BEGINNING OF THE TIN MANS SINGING SCENE AND YOU WILL SEE IT

  • Its not a sandbag its is a bird, you can see the bird clearly earlier in the film and when you watch right through carefully you can see its extending its wing, its not something swinging!

  • thats a BIRD!!!

  • Thats the bird. the vhs version shows the hanging.

  • everyone is retarded, theres 2 versions, theres the vhs with the hanging shorty an the dvd edited with the bird in the background.

  • This ain't da original this one is edited

  • You know when people say you'll see something if you're looking for it... it doesn't even look like a person being hanged unless back then they hung themselves sideways...

  • Sorry to break the bad news to all of you, but it's an Ostrich they were originally going to use in this scene, but removed it because it was out of place. Little did L.B. Mayer or the director know that it had gotten loose backstage wasn't noticed in the film until editing. They left it in because there was so much trouble trying to get this scene filmed to begin with.

  • @sammyk64 100% correct, they wanted to put more exotic birds in to remain faithful to the source material, but were mislead in regards to the training of the ostriches.

  • a man did hang him self behind set because he was replaced for the Tin Man part...he couldnt hand the weight of the costum and was fired....he got pissed and killed him self right there

  • @crookstercrew hahahhaa, are you thinking of Buddy Ebson? He left because he had an allergy to the make up used for the Tin Man. Three people were considered for the Tin Man, Ray Bolger (who ended up being the Scarecrow) Buddy Ebson and the guy who eventually got it, Jack Hatley.

  • @crookstercrew - Buddy Ebsen (the original Tin Man) didn't kill himself, nor was he replaced b/c of any costume-related issue...he nearly died from a severe allergic reaction to the makeup, but not only survived, he wound up being the longest-living (non-Munchkin) cast member, having died in 2003 at the age of 95.

  • It's a bird - an Emu, and has always been an emu.

  • its one of the large birds they had on set spreading its wings.

everyone here knows that right? you really think this COULD be a midget hanging itself? ON a hollywood set... DURING filming?

  • A) They're not outdoors. They are on a sound stage indoors. B) That's someone on the set in the background, getting into the shot inadvertently. There's no indication of someone dangling from a tree.

  • I like your cursor

  • EVERY ONE CALM DOWN! its not a midget hanging him/herself!!!! its a gigantic frog! NOW you can panic!!! RUN XD

  • 2 of my uncles worked on this set from day one. There was never a suicide on set. There was never a mention of anything of the sort (except from people who have nothing better to do than sit around and pull imaginary stories out of their tv screens).. but myths will be myths. Have fun!

  • It is a wing of a stalk that was on camera. If you back up to when dorothy and scarecrow wantch tinman dance you can see it. But no. Instead we wanna ride on the hype and believe bullshit of directors letting actors hang.

  • @Glitched64 It this version it is, on the tapes made in the 1980's there is a legit midget committing suicide, they photo-oped it with a bird. they didn't want a controversy to break out so they were hoping it would slide under the table and people would just see the copies with the bird.

  • @Mstorm246 You can SEE the bird here plus the wing half going out on the other side of it.

  • @Glitched64 This is the version made after the 1980's, this is when the put the bird in to cover it up. It is not the original copy.

  • @Mstorm246 My grandpa has the original copy an I can see the bird in the scene before and during the 'hanging'. If this were true, a suicide IN a movie would not be conspiricy and I don't think the director just let it hanging there.

  • @NDisneyfreek A Sand Bag With Wings Right? Haa. Its a Bird

  • @NDisneyfreek your retarded when it was debunked, they said it was a bird in the back ground an that what you see is it extending its wing out..

  • @NDisneyfreek I read that it was one of the birds they had on set for this scene. Either way, it's not a suicide.

  • @NDisneyfreek no its a crane pretty obvious if u look to the left of the tree u c the same exact motion in the same manner, like the other wing!! werid

  • @NDisneyfreek its not a sand bag!! a sand bag is not white and black.... its a damn bird stretching its wing!!!

  • Hmmm is it a ghost of a swan..? Get it right

  • its a turkey now everyone shut up lol

  • OKAY DASSIT IM SOOING DA COMPANEE

    DIS IS BAD STUFF LAWULZ!

  • It was an ostrich.

  • so how many birds was it? I've heard peacock, phesant, crane, ostrich, and generalized bird. so what was it

  • okay, this crystal-clear vid really helps me out.

  • I think when I saw the movie years ago it was a big stalk like bird, like a crane which you saw quickly in a scene by the side of the path. It must have moved to the back of the set and was scared by the actors and then flapped it's wings as they were passing by.

  • i saw this on a ten inch screen from a mile away... i was like "thats a fucking bird."

  • That's a pheasant.

  • I don't see how anyone could think this was a hanging. All I can see is the bird.

  • its a bird bcuz the other side does that same things

  • I said it in High School and I will say it again: It looks like a bird.

  • It's an ostrich in the background... they scared it as they passed by, and it flapped its wings. This has been a rumor for years now. MGM even put out original cuts on one of their anniversery DVD sets showing the ostrich in color being led to the scene by handlers just before shooting that scene.

  • obviously its wing doesnt comes and reattcach itsself..but it is a bird..cuz if it was a person why does he only swing once then stop..come on people

  • ITS A FUCKIN PEACOCK

  • LOL@people who actually think its a hanging munchkin. Its the same in VHS, DVD or HD...an exotic bird.

  • Looked like Regis Philbin on the grassy knoll.

  • duh.

  • duh.

  • Hey...anyone who's ever tried the Wiz of Oz with Dark Side of the Moon thing, has GOT to try this...found this album-movie-mashup of Dark Side of The Moon with 2001 A Space Odyssey...it's pretty cool. You can find it if you google "dark side of the moon 2001 space odyssey, and it's the one at the klozitrokstar blog

  • da new on show a bird the old shows a dead man hang the cover the old man hang with a bird

  • i think the dvd altered it out cuz i saw the vhs version and its their....soo they altered it out

  • I seen the original and have it. It looks like a bird then. I have the new version and it still looks like a bird. I googled it. Its still a bird.

  • lol a birds wing doesnt just fly off then re-attatch itself :/

  • snopes.com/movies/films/ozsuicide.asp

  • Lots of people thought this was a suicide, but it's actually just a bird you can google it

  • its a munchkin hanging themself they edited the newer versions on dvd to change it to make it look like a stupid bird i have the original cassette version and you can totally tell that is no bird flapping its wings or ne thing its a damn person

  • This is shit...

  • its real.it was on a true scary story website.cant remem wat its called tho

  • lol you see it moving forwards then back but it looks like a bird

  • its a ostrich

  • @bshizuma87 It was flying, so evidently no.

  • It's one of the birds that were on the set. The bird lifted its wing and turn slightly to the left and wen it does u can see the birds body

  • Well if someone really died then why isnt there any reports on someone gone missing or something like that?I dont think nobody would notice if one of the actors went missing...i say its a bird...

  • @jackbuck44. Rotflmao!! Rotflmao!!

  • it's a crane, frankly i think it's bull that everyone makes up damned stories about what it is.

  • One time I ate my own shit....That was the worst Thanksgiving ever.

  • not it, it went around only one time like someone was controlling it, if it was dead it would just go and go

  • its a stork. it wandered over from the Tarzan set. it's. not. a. hanging. man.

  • Idk but I didn't see a fucking thing.

  • In the Tin Man sequence, can we see a stagehand on the set; or an actor hanging himself; or someone falling out of a tree?

No to all three. As Dorothy, Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) and the Tin Man (Jack Haley) set off down the Yellow Brick Road, we see a large bird stretching its wings. There is no stagehand on the set, no one hanging himself, and no one falling out of a tree. The website devoted to urban legands, Snopes.com, has a more detailed explanation.

  • Its a bird hangin himself.

  • if its not true its a bird if it is true........ its sad.... QQ

  • you can see the other wing!

  • @DoubleTrouble0101 it could of been a reflection: stupid

  • hahahah can't you see the bird spreads both of its wings and retracts them you can see half of the birds body

  • ok lets find a middle ground lets just say its a bird hanging its self

  • great video, thanks for the upload!

  • Even on old VHS, how can the small movement of a thin shadow moving left to right remotely be mistaken for someone hanging? If you can't tell it's a bird why is your next guess- "Well, looks like suicide to me! That's a hanging dead midget if I ever saw one!" Seriously?

  • you guys are dumb asses if you look closley on the colored version its a damn bird from san diego stupid dicks 8===D

  • There's even a news report on it! Some munchkin killed themselves during this scene. On the new DVD version they actually ha to edit that area out and make it seem like nothing happened. But it's in all the old VHS version.

  • @sallyxfreakinxjenson You have proof?

  • Seems legit

  • Bunch of ignorant, it's a bird - period!

  • it wasnt a bird it was one of the munchkin that didnt get the part so he hang himself on stage!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yes it was a bird...animals were supposed to be used in the movie. One got loose during this take...

  • The big bird is called a emu

  • @JensenAcklesisSmexy then your mother is as retarded as you are...

  • It's actually a bird, you can see in some of the clips and throughout the movie there are birds as they're traveling down the yellow brick road

  • OK MY MOTHER TOLD ME IT IS A FACT THAT THE MUNCHKIN DID KILL HIMSELF/HERSELF!!!!!

  • OK YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS ITS A MUNCHKIN HANGING HIMSELF!!!!!!! YOU STUPID IDIOTS WHY WOULD A BIRD BE ALL THE F-ING WAY BACK THERE A**HOLES!

  • -_________-.....its a bird it just moved its head to the side.If it was someone who killed themself then the people around would of said something

  • it was the stupid singing.

  • its a crane i looked at fifty videos and nothing happend but a bird being a bird lol

  • @benmc12 omfg you're my new hero X'D

  • EVERYONE, the color and black and white version is a bird BUT the VHS version is a munchkin proof look up the acount user suicidalmunchkin

  • iss a tip toe

  • this is just a cover up.

  • @hombre73 its not an alter u you moron its a cover. and its YEARS later not a couple. read.

  • Yes a close-up with the quality of the video being somewhat less than what I would get filming with my toaster oven..

  • Tarzan.

  • i feel like if it was a person it woulda been heavy enough to swing back out from the tree atleast once more. the bird makes more since to me.

  • I always could tell it was a large bird even before I heard of the "legend." The thing pecks at the ground a few times, then like all large birds spreads its wings and stretches as Dorothy and crew round the backset curve to out-of-sight.

Even if a munchkin had hanged himself, this clearly couldn't have been the shot.

  • i think its a turtle. i like turtles.

  • @benmc12 u mean u like tuwtels....

  • I thought that was called a pixelated blob

  • @conley1112 Thats what birds do!

  • Yes, It is a bird. There is a video somewhere. I thought it was on Youtube, but I can't find it yet. Anyway, they had all the latest technology and it clearly showed it to be a bird along the lines of a stork or some other large feathery creature.

  • thats the bird version here is the real one /watch?v=P8YVeMwhDNI

  • i dont get it... :l

  • dude it was a peecock you twat

  • its a peacock. but look in the right a lil closer and something there looks suspicious

  • It's a giant bird people. Not a "hanging munchkin" hahaha, really? Common sense, when the tin man is dancing, you can SEE the bird moving in the background, it's moving its wings!
