This song is almost beyond words. I think of Walden Pond, or being alone at camp as a young kid as I looked in amazement at the stars whence surrounded by the tall conifers in Maine ... And like the stars, it is timeless, too. A mixture of organic emotions that run deep; deeper then we normally care to know. For me, it's a rather nice reminder that we are here together but for only a short while. Let's enjoy it.

I have just listened to a few different versions of this song. This one stands out because it provides such an intimate mood. It has been a while since I sat and listened to a classical guitar being played. Being able to hear Jeff breath while playing reminds just how delicate an instrument it is and how sensitive a good performance on such a guitar can be.

i just want to ask a question, not about the song at all, but, im a classical player too.. have any techniques for me to keep my picking fingers like how yours are.. mine always seem to play like a bass(since thats how i started) and want to get out of the way) how can i keep my fingers down at the string?

Without seeing you play, it's hard to say what the fix is. Hand position is very important, obviously, and having your hand in a natural position (or as natural as possible) helps relieve tension and allows you to play without a lot of extraneous movement. Your best bet would be to get some lessons before you start developing bad habits that you have to undo later.

My sincere apologies. I trancribed this by ear from an internet recording Jason did on NPR 4-5 years ago. This was about a year before he released the "Images of Metheny" CD, and 2 years before his arrangement was published in "Fingerstyle Guitar". I'm surprised you didn't find more mistakes! :)
