@CardezzyK Basically because European countries have depended on the U.S. and NATO militarily. This give European countries protection and allows them to reduce their defense budget which in turn makes for an average German military. If the EU did not exist and Germany was not a part of NATO, Germany would be strong militarily as it is economically (at least compared to others).

@CardezzyK it was more to it then just hitler. you basicly would have to take into consideration all european history back to 1648, but especialy the time between the wars. to make long things short: germans felt that the world owed them, they felt threatend from the east and at the same time saw a last opportunity for a dominating germany. hitler knew how to build on that.

Germany had the first atomic program but US had 200,000 people working on one bomb, Manhanttan project started 1939 and was complete 1945 when Little Boy was dropped to Nagasaki. There may not be Hitler any longer but somewhere sometime another Hitler may rise into prominence and with arrogance and wide support may start over what happened during WWII perhaps in different continent or place but the same nevertheless. The world needs to be vigilant and try to prevent people like Hitler with resources from taking power.
