Great build. Needs engine mounts on side to complete the scale. All the haters, need to get off your ass and actually do this yourself and realise this is a really expensive and time consuming exercise, and if you crash the heli it's actually heart breaking because of the effort and MONEY put into it! You've obviously never gotten off 3 channel $50 helicopters. so STFU! This is a maiden flight. I'm sure he is quite good at what he does and just taking it slow for first time flight.
Great vid, chinook looking amazing! What's with all the people making fun of you for flying so low? In case you weiners didn't know, flying low takes more skill. No disrespect, but quit hatin'.

@TooLittleRC i watched other big scale helis like this and the same dumbass commented the same thing! maybe is works at hobby king and wants us to visit the site :P
Great build. Don't listen to illiterate people make stupid comments about your Chinook. I flew CH-47s for 28 years and have thousands of hours as pilot-in-command. Just to set things straight to the uninformed: the blades overlap and intermesh. A combining gearbox ensures they stay that way. It takes more power to hover than fly in forward flight, so if rc2rotor's machine can hover, which it clearly does, it could very well climb out smartly and quickly disappear from sight.
@hookpilot46 wondrfull explanation....i am very fond of these toys and very soon i will b buying a bigger rc model right now have ty901 it's small but fun.. :)
Holy crap i am dying to know how you sorted out the control mixing to make it work. I have experience in the realthing and the first day of conversion we were told to explain what went on aerodynamically to make one yaw.. it is a nightmare. How on earth did you get it into a model?? How many engines? Mixing units?? Wow
that is absolutely so cool wow i am gob smacked that must have took so much time to get right well done sir on a superb job you must be so chuffed i know i would be

Excellent job sir. My father flew CH47's for 20 years, so I've got a soft spot for them. Quite nice to see someone do them proper justice in the R/C world.
The Video quite clearly states "1st flights with mechanics and fuselage together" I dont think he would take it more than 2 ft of the ground, if it crashes, its months of hard work ruined. Need to walk before you can run.
Many thanks for pointing that out to the numerous of idiots on my behalf that do not read the opening title. This was a video of the 1st test flight with the model complete, it represents 1,000's of hours work and I was not going to take any chances if something went wrong.
Since this video was taken in 2007 the helicopeter has flown very successfully and for those that are interested HIGHER...........
why would it be 1,000's of hours of work?? Did you hand-carve wax gears and cogs for using to create clay casts, which you then poured molten aluminum into to create the individual parts? I mean... most of the metal parts are made in a factory i would assume. So it would seem like you would only need a few hours to put that thing together.
You obviously don't know anything about these "things" or how these "things" are designed and built, you can't just go to a shop and buy one of these HELICOPTERS.
Aeroplanes fly - forward unsupported motion in the air
Helicopters hover - primary design was for vertical take off and the ability to deliver supplies to remote or hostile locations. Hovering is flying, unsupported in the air.
Amazing auto start of a zenoah.... Where did you get this enough light to integrate it and enough strong to start the engine ? Also, do you have any other flying vids to show how it really flies ? Stationnary is good to show stability, but i really like to see them shaking a little.... I saw your building page on Vario Gallery, and nothing more to say you are just an expert...

I wonder how high that can go once me and my dad made one rc plane it was a apache but it faild cause we went to high and we couldnt see it and my dad accdenlty turn it off and as soon we falling down my dad tryed turning it back on really quickly but we failed cause it wasnt starting fast enough >:( my dad worked hard on that but we made a plane instead
Great build. Needs engine mounts on side to complete the scale.
