One more thing I never got: Emory's hits seemed to have little or none effect on his opponents. I mean, he can punch a heel 4 times and then get just one single hit and fall to the mat. And around minute 3.00, he was laying down, Simmons on his back twisiting his arm, and he was unable to get up; it seemed to me he could if he weren't that submissive... don't believe it.
I wonder the same... not all the money in the world worths the humilliation IMO. The speedos were def for the ratings; he could have changed those for long pants if he wanted to. He's so submissive it makes me want to get up there and kick his ass lol

I think you hit the nail on the head. So many jobbers of this era would wrestle in the tight trunks. I have no doubt they were going for the eye candy look of being destroyed in them. In other words, they did it for the chicks. Let the girls get a good look at them in just their trunks and boots, get demolished in a match by a heel, gain sympathy, and quite possibly attract girls to want to meet them after the show. Because I'm pretty sure most of the jobbers of the time were single guys.
I wonder why Bob would continue to subject himself to this kind of punishment and humiliation every week. Granted, he looks hot, but why put on a tiny too-tight speedo if a guy twice your age is going to trash you in front of millions of viewers? Bob always looked confident at the start of a match, but very quickly he'd panic or make a bold move that always cost gave his flabby opponent the advantage. He probably got intimidated by these loud-mouthed brutes, which weakened those big muscles.
