I am so happy that so many couples finally got to have the same rights as me and my husband.
As for everyone using the Bible says this, the bible says that... How is that fair to everyone? Are there not more religions then just christianity and catholicism? What about Wiccans, Buddhists, Judisim (sp?), Atheism, Agnostics, ect? Why should everyone bow down to the beliefs of one book? When hundreds of people that don't follow said Bible get married everyday?
now who's discriminating?...I must GO AWAY! Interesting to say the least. read my pre post again I compared your "religions" which is what you say encouraged you to marry.

Some religions encourage human sacrifice you know...soo should we go along with that? Why not? the same God that said"thou shall not kill"said...
We're done. You've compared us to people who sacrifice children. The montage shows couples happily in love. Forty or so were married between June and November (including me and my boyfriend). The court's decision said it was discriminatory not to allow civil marriages between same-gender partners.Your minister/priest/rabbi/imam is not required to perform these weddings. I'm ecstatic about my marriage; you want to take away my happiness AND not be angry at you. Not happening. GO AWAY!
: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
1. This is not my own opinion
2. I could not be a Christian and hate. I'm just having a conversation. No one can say they believe in God and live contrary to His...HIS word...including me.
1.Bigotry is not limited to only racial or ethnic groups
2. Your opinions are clearly not your own, but fed to you by some branch of Christianity.
3. It's arrogant to think that you know what God wants.
4. My religion encourages same sex partners to marry (Reform Judaism). Therefore you and your ilk are trying to prevent me from practicing my religion.
5. I would not expect your church to marry us, but since I don't belong to your church, it's wrong for you to expect me to follow its beliefs.
This is insane. Yes on 8 = Hate. I'm African-American (one of the three of ten). I just want to tell you know not all African-Americans are homophobic. I've been fighting for you everyday in class, and will continue to do so.
Thanks, WprEmiere1985. It's important for all of us to remember that we are each individuals and do not represent the ethnic, religious, or sexual orientation we belong to. I know lots of very pissed-off Catholics and even a few Mormons, who feel abused by the officials of their religion who took a stand for bigotry.
I don't get it. Does it count if the other partner had a sex change? If it's a same sex issue than why does one woman want to be a man let alone a man want to look and dress like a woman? Why should marriage matter anyway to the gay community? I thought they don't believe in God and marriage was built under the word of God. I don't like discrimination...2 of my best friends are gay. If 2 people of the same sex love each other sooooo much isn't it enough to live together and be together?
Most of the people in the montage are members of Congregation BCC,a Reform Jewish congregation in Los Angeles. It is likely that almost everyone in the video believes in God. No,it's not enough to live together. Marriage is a declaration of love in front of the community and, in our cases, in a religious ceremony (some in the video had separate religious and secular ceremonies).
I didn't see any men dressed as women in this montage although some women wear masculine clothes. Hope this helps.
I see on your profile that you are a Christian. I'd like to leave you to other Christians to apologize for you.Your bigotry is choosing one or two lines of Old Testament in a bad translation, misinterpreting it, and ignoring everything else in the Bible.
The New Testament speaks about the issue of homosexuality.
Rom 1:27 "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
Rm 1:31 "Without understanding, covenantbreakers, WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION, implacable, unmerciful:"
I believe that people such as you are simply one of those close-minded people who refer to the Bible whenever gay-supporters argue with you. It's a BIBLE. Sure, it's important to a lot of people, but if God created gays and lesbians, why would he criticize them? And if love is true, no one should have the right to separate them and take away their right to be married.
I hate close-minded homophobics who refer to the Bible way too much.
The term marriage is only describing man and woman. Not any type of homosexual. Prop 8 does not violate the constitution. Prop 8 is unconstitutional ONLY when the condition is a hierarchy term to describe heterosexual and homosexual couples. However if the term marriage is a SUBSET of domestic partnership, it is constitutional. No law should treat any subset of the domestic partnership unequally with segregation.
If gay marriage is legal and considered "natural" then we should all not have any discrimination aganinst incestual couples, marriage for people who want to marry their pets, or even young children. VOTE YES ON 8
I some-what agree with same-sex relation ships. Because, if your gay, your... gay. I understand you can't help it, but don't call it marriage!
the real defintion of marriage is man and woman. not man and man. call it life parenter. or something beside marriage! god made adam and eve. not adam and steve.
Domestic partnerships do not provide LGBT couples the same rights as marriage. As history has shown "SEPARATE BUT EQUAL" has not been equal in practice.
Calling it by any other term would relegates LGBT citizens to a second-class status. I strongly believe that would be a step backwards in the civil rights movement in our country.
The charge of hate (along with bigotry, homophobia and intolerance) is the primary charge leveled against supporters of Prop 8.
Any honest outsider would see that virtually all the hate expressed concerning Prop 8 comes from the no on 8 crowd. I have neither seen nor heard any hatred of gays expressed by yes on 8.
No on 8 expresses nearly all the hate because many of them do hate, loudly and continuously. But hate in the name of love
We gays have shown enormous patience given the lies we've been exposed to in this campaign, and yes, the hatred. Our wedding this past weekend was about our love for each other. We were joined by our families and many, many friends, married in a mainstream religion. Our marriage has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks, only about what is right for us. People who don't like us are free to not be part of our lives, but are not free to tell us how to live. We don't have time to hate you.
Just, "for the children?" What about children like me? My brothers and I were raised by two gay dads. Didn't we deserve to have our family be legally protected? If you thought about children of gay parents at all, you would probably realize that it's not good for them, psychologically or emotionally, to be forced to endure a political campaign in which they repeatedly saw the legitimacy of their families denied and their very existence called into question.
@justathought3 I don't see how children could possible benefit from this. And I'm sorry, but you and the rest of the Prop 8 supporters have shown much more hate than the opponents.
In 2000, 61 percent of the voters in Calif, one the most liberal states in America, voted to retain the only definition of marriage civilization has ever had.
in May 2008, 4 out of 7 Calif. justices decided that they would use their power to make a new definition:
Gender will now be irrelevant to marriage.
What we have here is truly manipulative. 4 justices create a right, 4 months old that no one had ever voted to create.
And you accuse the us of imposing our values on society.
"only definition of marriage" - is this counting the one that defined the wife as her husband's property?
The fact that the California justices were largely Republican aside, note the legislature, voted in by the people of CA, have twice passed bills for gay marriage. Gov Schwarzenegger vetoed the bills. In other words, one guy vetoed the will of the legislature.
The 4 justices didn't "create" a right. They "recognized" a right.
Our vote in favor of gay marriage does not impose ANYTHING on you. You can continue in your heterosexual world and be in complete denial that we exist and are paying taxes and raising children and bettering the world. Your vote against gay marriage DOES affect the safety and well-being of me and my children.
Where are you getting your facts from? I know many same sex couples that raise their children wonderfully, much more than any straight couples I know.
You have my support. My girlfriend is hispanic and im African American, about 50 years ago i could not legally marry her. I understand how you must feel. It makes me sad its happening again. I hope that we can defeat this. Say no to Hate, Vote no on 8.
ChiRock773 and Wh2feflower, come on guys.. we all know u had it going both of u.. come out of the closet ...
GAYS FOR LIFE!!! we vote.. Prop 8 is going down.. and forever us, freedom, love and peace.. look at u, look at what "str8" ppl like u are doing.. look at ur families.. u make me disgusted.. seriously.
The French government won't offer domestic partnership rights, or accept homosexual marriage because they know what many people in the US don't see, kids, have a right to a Mother and Father, all studies show that this is fundamental and offers the best opportunity for kids to grow up. The desires, lifestyles and choices of adults should not and cannot trump those rights. I'm all for domestic partnership rights, but leave marriage as it has been for millennia, Man and Woman!!
There are already tens of thousands of children being happily raised by same-sex parents. And there will continue to be. The major impediment to their security & happiness isn't the lack of an opposite-sex parent, but the lack of recognition & protection afforded them by society & law. I won't begin to refute the empty argument about keeping marriage the way it's been for millennia, b/c a quick survey of history tells us marriage has evolved mightily over the millennia - as society has evolved.
You have no clue what God wants. Where do you come off to tell anyone what they can do with their life? My God brought my partner to me, my religion encourages our marriage.Butt out of my life!
Alright, then make sure you haven't touched a football, aren't wearing more than one type of fabric and haven't gone near a woman on her period. Also, let's hope your children don't talk back to you, or else we'd have to kill them.
Nope, that you can't take one tiny thing from the bible (In this case, homosexuality) and try to enforce it when there are countless other things in the book that we defy daily.
My bad Lol, I was watching The Lakers game and half time was almost over so I just typed anything...But yeah, i agree with you, i think christians just pick and choose the stuff they Like in the Bible and Ignore the fact that it also says some pretty far out stuff that we would never follow..I didnt register to vote but if I did I would Vote No on Prop 8..I used to wanna vote yes but some gay person on Youtube changed my mind
Guy, this argument comes up over and over and over. As I would like to point out for the millionth time, banning gay marriage will *not* stop gay people from having children. Those children will continue to be born and adopted regardless. It's too bad for children of gay parents in France that their government will not recognize their families and give them the legal benefits and protections that all children deserve. I think we are lucky that America is working on becoming more progressive.
This is a strong video. The campaign ote defeat prop 8 sh should make a 30 second ad out of it. I haven't seen any real married people or people getting married in their ads

This is a strong video. The campaign ote defeat prop 8 sh should make a 30 second ad out of it. I haven't seen any real married people or people getting married in their ads

Fantastic video. I only hope all the people supporting that hateful proposition will take a look and realize what they're fighting against.
