  • I don't know which friend of my son was over here when they used my laptop, but that last comment which was supposedly made by me definitely wasn't. No, I don't agree with your video, but the proper response would not be one of vile and hate. It would be one of sorrow, sorrow for the soul that made this and which is so hopelessly lost.

  • @ranchdawg1

Science flies you to the moon, religion flies you into buildings.

You are a moron who believes that a space god floated down to a magical garden and used magical dirt to form the first Human, that Human was later tricked into eating a mysterious but irresistibly juicy apple by a talking snake, who was really a shape-shifting demon with horns and a tail from an invisible underground realm filled with the tortured souls of former mini-space gods.

    Just, shut up, would you?

  • Your argument is interesting but unbalanced. The atrocities in the OT you address are in contexts (i.e. characters who commit these things actually face a wrath for it), but if you know the stories and come to the conclusion that the OT promotes those things...ok.

I will commend that you acknowledge that not every Christian out there is just some prejudiced moron; people who think in those absolutes are clearly not open to having a real discussion of the effects of religion on modern society.

  • @MazterChief1992

Wrong again. Some of the atrocities in the OT are ordered directly by god. Whose wrath did god face for ordering rape, murder, and pillage in Deuteronomy 20:10-14, as just one example?

  • @Arondeus Nice example! First of all, in that first verse, the deity very clearly orders an offer of peace before anything happens. But the army I interpret moreso as a metaphor of wrath itself; the wrath is overtaking that city. Moreover, this is actually a prime example of the function of the OT, which is to provide the imagery of a - yes - brutal, savage world without the message of unconditional love and salvation that is depicted in the NT; its meant to provide contrast.

  • @MazterChief1992

Unconditional love and salvation in the NT? Really?? Why, then, did Jesus condemn the Pharisees for NOT killing disobedient children in Matthew 15:4-7?

  • Again, context. The Pharisees viewed themselves as perfect followers yet they changed the OT scripture that Jesus was quoting. It's not that the Pharisees didn't kill kids, it's that they were hollier-than-thou and hypocritical by nature. And yet, the deity still loves them for all their shortcomings. We can go on and on if you wish with different examples, but every detail in every religious book out there is up to one's interpretation.

  • @MazterChief1992

"every detail in every religious book out there is up to one's interpretation"

Yes, and that is precisely why religion should be a completely private matter. Keep that nonsense out of my government institutions and policies. That is also why religion must be actively ridiculed and weeded out of Human culture. There will always be the danger of violent and bloody interpretations until we rid ourselves of those stone age myths once and for all.

  • @Arondeus I'll agree that religion/subjective morality should have no factor in legislature, and we'll leave it there.

  • @ranchdawg1

    Thanks for visiting!

  • Yeah. Jesus isn't much better than his father who are actually the same being. Remember that he came to uphold the OT laws.

  • Well said! Honest and true!

  • Are we not innocent until proven guilty so by that logic religion can not be proven unless god sends every one a direct message.

  • If Christianity is true what I hate about it is the "pick and choosers" the ones that want to do what they want but still believe they will go to heaven like protestants want to have sex and get divorced so that was born although in Catholicism that is a sin. The way I see it religion has caused so many deaths and will cause so much more. I am an atheist because there are so many religion all claiming to be accurate but some of them contradict each other.

  • lol at 2:22 the flying spaghetti monster.

The God of the old testament was sadistic.

  • Arondeus you rock bro!

  • Christanity is the founder of the modern civilization. If you have an organization of 2000 years old you are going to have some bad history. Catholic history is full of uniting europe and lessening the blow of Europe e.g. The crusades is a brilliant example of a great foreign policy in which europe is saved from ripping itself apart by focusing on a greater foe than local border disputes. The catholic church has continued to be an integral part of Western civilization.

  • @TheMaskhadov

You're an absolute fuckin' moron. -Arondeus

  • Why? Which part do you disagree with. Or do you just comment without thinking of why? You cannot disagree that an organisation which has been around for two millenia has had both positive and negative effects in europe and the world. I can swear at you if you like and act like an idiot who just says Gods brilliant because i say so but I give you an answer and yet you mock.

  • @TheMaskhadov The Crusades were brilliant foreign policy? Killing thousands of people was a good idea to "unite" Europe? Because they were fighting against a bigger "foe"? Christianity was the founder of modern civilization? So many questions so little time. China was more advanced than Europe ever was for the first few thousand years first of all, if anyone started modern civilization, it was them. They had technology Europe didn't get for a thousand years.

  • @HelpTheIgnorant How could China start the modern civilisation when they were miles from the eventual heart of the world. China did have greater technology but it was not China that went on to conquer the world. I am not childish and I will not behave as if killing people is good or bad it is about perspective. The ISlamic forces were the invaders of the Byzantine Empire they took the lands that we now associate with the muslim world. They launched a jihad and europe launched a crusade.

  • @TheMaskhadov If you mean to say the greater foe were the Muslims, then I can't wait to you realize how blind you really are. The Islamic Empire wasn't doing anything to Europe that would warrant such slaughter. In fact, during the Crusades, Europe attacked Constantinople. At the time, Constantinople was still Orthodox Christian. Sure, it's not the same thing as Catholism, but you can't deny the fact that Europe kind of attacked people more similar to them then Muslims for money.

  • @TheMaskhadov Lastly, Europe only stopped hating each other in the last century or so. There were still border disputes going on after the Crusades (i.e The Hundred Years' War (France and England) and the Seven Years' War). Countries in Europe changed what they thought of others about twice a day. One day England and France liked each other, next thing you know, England and Spain are trying to take France over.

  • Personally i think Socialism and Communism sound brilliant on paper but they don't work in real life. because there way too easy to corrupt. man's heart is the problem, Man is corrupt. until people realize man's heart is desperately wicked nothing will change. Jesus Christ is the ruler by which man should measure their hearts. but most will immediately dismiss that as nonsense. on and on the circle or error continues generation after generation. Check out a poem called "Creed" by Steve Turner.

  • all the killing in the old testament was don't to show mankind the sovereignty of god. in other words this is not a game it real. cross god's word at your own peril. Question if socialism was in power across the globe would it have a punishment system and if so what would be the punishment for murder? i have taken not of how Communist deal with such cases. its very much an eye for an eye. but now you claim i'm twisting things. just like i think your twisting the bible's meaning.

  • ummm it's an error. i can't watch it :(

  • Also, Christians wont throw out the Old Testament because its important to understand the origins and foundations of the religion.

  • Thank you for admitting that Christianity is based on a collection of books that include stories about disembowlling pregnant women, slaughtering entire tribes, and selling daughters into slavery. Most don't admit that.

Assuming you are Christian; you're an absolute fuckin' moron. -Arondeus

  • Thanks for clearing that up for me, I was slightly unsure but now that i have conformation i'm a fucking moron. it was bothering me for ages but once you said it, it was so obvious. i have just announced the news to my family and it was received very well, they all agreed and even added to it. uncle Albert said i was a fuck stick. thank you once again this revelation has brought our family so much closer in way you will never know. thanks again Arondeus.

  • @oreilzac

You are very welcome, you fuck stick moron!

  • Arondeus go look up ***ad hominem*** i think it best describes your immature verbal assaults. Next time you would like to retort, please try and conduct your behavior in a more adult fashion. name calling should have been left behind in the school yard. if you find yourself frustrated or unsettled with a commend made on youtube and find it difficult to articulate yourself, please refrain from using primitive dialog and search deep within your self for something constructive to say. best of luck

  • @oreilzac

I apologize for the delayed response. In my opinion, there is no difference between believing that Noah built an ark to save billions of species and believing in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. So, when dealing with people who adhere to such childish belief systems, I find that it's helpful to speak at their level. Thanks for visiting!

  • what about politeism and neopaganism?

  • Man, I like your vids. Why did you have to do this

The history of Christianity has been barbaric and murderous? Try ALL human history pal. Hell, you used the term barbaric that was applied to the pagans. That doesnt make the Bible barbaric and Murderous it makes it an accurate record of human interaction.

Pick and choose Christians? There were some laws and customs God created solely for the ancient Israelites and no longer apply to modern people.

  • Incest was not glorified in the Old Testament. That was a desperate attempt by Lot's daughters to ensure that humanity survived. In their eyes all humanity had been wiped out nd they had to ensure that they continued the line. They had to drug Lot to ensure this would happen, and the offspring were a source of trouble for the Jewish people, in particular the Moabites. As for the others, I will simply cite the relative nature of morality.

  • I blame Rome for the damage it did to Christianity. It turned a peaceful religion for pacifists, into the Roman idela, which involved killing non-Christians and giving political power to those in charge. The doctrines may have changed since then, but the damage remains.

Also, are you going to do a video for the Jews? We are very much different to Christianity

  • The correct way to read the bible the is 100% simbolically way.

  • Continued.... Along with that the Chirstian mobs of old thought that it was there God-given duty to rid the world of the infidels. I beleive this goes against the core beleifs of Christianity, but it is apart of its history and it should be accepted.

  • The Bible was chosen by the bishops who were under the influence of the Holy Spirit, a branch of God himself. So why get rid of what God has ordered? And before anyone says anything, the Bible is very cryptic and contrdicts itself a lot. I don't know why, but I hope to understand after death. And it is through the original values of Judism (i can't spell) that Christianity was formed, so we need the Old Testament.

  • Around 1:52 I am one of those atheists. My father's family is deeply religious, and I have taken a lot of flak from them.

  • Where you asking Christians to be democratic? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!

  • LOL I must be. ; )

  • No, he's not out of his mind. Stop stereotyping and imputing each and every single Christian with the characteristics of the so-called Christian Right or the State Capitalist religious establishment. Look up Oscar Romero and the Liberation Theologists, John Brown and the Abolitionists, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, etc. Reading Ernesto Cardinal in grad school was the TIPPING POINT that solidified my radical leftist consciousness! Your fascistic atheist absolutist attitude alienates potential allies.

  • Unless I was competing in a creative-writing competition at the Fantasy Faire, I can't think of any situation in which I would want to be allied with christians, or any one who still believes in the 10,000 year old campfire tales that were told to entertain illiterate shepherds on the hills of Palestine.

  • read the Gospel, understand that Christ spoke of cooperation and brotherhood, I am a Christian, I am ashamed for what the church has done, but the church is made of human and humans make mistakes, read the gospel understand that Christianity is closer to socialism, not capitalism, that people understand capitalist not used the word "love of Christ", but he used for his dirty business and that God will forgive us ...

  • going to the temple to pray, Jesus saw out of the temple merchants, handle their money with greed, then took a stick and sent them away by shouting them not to bring their dirty business in front of the house of God, capitalism is closer to 'Jewish greed, capitalism is in the hands of Jewish bankers, not to Christianity, I am not anti-Semitic,for me, there are not blacks whites yellows, there are only brothers, the children of God ...affectionate greetings an Italian

  • Take your time and search the following: Joke, sarcasm.

Im not fascist. And i don't search allies. I want people to think for themselves.

  • how can atheist by fascistic?

    (hitler was a christian ;P)

  • catholic ...

  • he was catholic the same way any atheist who was sent to Catholic school was Catholic.

  • people kill in the name of science but no theres never a videos about that. oh by the way fuck you

  • Thanks for visiting! I'm happy whenever christians share their kind of love with the rest of us. Thank you!

  • it said in your profile that you committed to end of religion. that will never happen it human nature to believe in a force more power than us. and as a Christian i love everyone and i lost my temper. and i am sorry ,but your wrong about everything.

  • Religion is against human nature. Religion IS dying. Less and less people go to church while more and more people will say that they are 'spiritual' but not religious. That is only a stepping stone toward saying what they are still uncomfortable admitting. Which is that they don't believe anymore. It takes time but it is inevitable. Oh, and there is no need to apologize for what you said. Hypocrisy and hatred is exactly what I would expect from a christian.

  • though im not a religious person or anything but you have to admit that religion IS part of human nature. Human beings are just like little kids. When the little kid gets scared or frightened he runs to his father or mother. Same thing for humans, when they're weak or sick or going through hard times they run to the stronger being (which is God in our case).

And religion gets definitely stronger in hard times and you can easily tell that in most of the world countries.

  • what your beef with religion. what has it done to you. and as long as the bill of rights is there i have a right to be Christian. and if that goes it leaves the door open for a dictatorship. bye bye freedom. religion is part of humanity since the first language. your are intolerant of all other ideas that aren't commy. i am a person intolerant sometimes. but admit it, you are intolerant. and i will never comment again on your videos.

  • I have never had a problem admitting that I am intolerant of hatred, racism, sexism, war, genocide, greed ... basically, religion. Especially christianity. Thanks for visiting!

  • "what your beef with religion. what has it done to you"

Now that's a nice definition of "selfish"

  • I don't think he would ever realize the implication of that statement. (sigh)

  • love your neighbor as yourself (Jesus Christ) do not think that the american spirit is that Christians do not weigh that the church today is the word of Christ, read the Gospel, profess your faith, love, respect, equality. you have not other God just Me ... in capitalism the god is money, so capitalism is not Christianity, a country that does not give the right to life is not a Christian country ..

  • well if you put it this way the old testament is a big metaphor that helps explain such difficult philosophical issues to childern or people who didn't have such a level of thinking at the time. for example, the whole Adam and Eve story is basically a metaphor for mankind's spilt from the animal kingdom and obtaining characteristics that were different than other species.

  • We don't need a metaphor anymore, science has explained it. So get rid of the metaphor. Kids are smarter today than they were 5000 years ago.

  • True, thats what I'm saying its just a big metaphor that is not necessary. Thats why I said, "at the time." I personally don't believe in any of those monotheistic religions (trying to learn about Buddhism, its a belief that teaches about how one can achieve great happiness through unselfishness and meditation; or something like that)

  • Thanks for visiting!

  • Jesus abolished the OT's criminal law, but he never told people to forsake it!!!

He instead set a very high moral standart and insisted on sincerity in faith instead of following the laws blindly. Christians chose to ignore the Old Testament and to deify and idolize Jesus, but this is certainly agaisnt Jesus' will.

  • That's one interpretation, thanks!

  • but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

  • And this is why christians think it's ok to kill in the name of god. "Thanks Jesus!"

  • Matthew, 5: 17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven,

  • Of course, this also means that Jesus is advocating everything in there ... selling daughters as sex slaves, slavery, murder, genocide, incest, rape, etc. He's not so meek and mild after all, is he. Thanks!

  • But how could Christians discard the Old Testament when Jesus himself said to follow it...?

  • Simple. Everything in the bible is an interpretation. There are thousands of interpretations. So, take whatever passages you think portray Jesus saying that the OT is valid, and simply re-interpret them to mean that he said the OT should be chucked out the window. Simple.

  • Christianity gets it belif and rules, laws etc, from Jesus! nowhere in the old Testiment does it tell us to go out and do awful things like the Christians have done in the past!!

  • Thanks for your comment! I don't think you have read the bible, though.

  • Mate! do not talk about the BIble to me! I was raised Christian, my father was a minister, I went to a Christian school and I have a great understanding of my own religion! And I have read the Bible!

  • Oh, thank you! I didn't really want to talk to you about the bible anyway! You're a pal!

  • God BLESS!

  • Thanks! May the Tooth Fairy sprinkle fairy dust on your pillow!

  • It does seem that we'll just have to wait patiently for the final end of religion. But then, the fall of the USSR was rather abrupt and shocking at the time, wasn't it? Who knows? ; ) Thanks again ukrational!

  • nice one... I used to be a pick and chooser charismatic catholic... My innate humanity eventually won out over spurious, barbaric teachings.

I feel that as we continue to evolve ethically, religion will recede further and further. Until that happens, I like the idea of getting rid of the Old Testament - who knows?

  • I like your video. Have you heard of creationist museums? They show Adam & Eve riding around on dinosaurs. This is from fundamentalist christians, of course. What will they think of next?

  • Thanks! I have heard of the creationist museums, unfortunately. When we finally encounter an intelligent species from another planet, I'm sure they'll incorporate that new information by saying that Jesus was an ET or something. LOL Thanks for your comment!

  • oh damn, you're so ignorant with your pseudotheology.

you're not worth a damn of my time.

    but then, nice try.

    keep on trying...

    hahaha!

  • Obviously, I was worth a bit of your time. Thanks for your comment!

  • Well, ok, if you're not willing to give me lessons in fucking one's self, then I suppose I'll have to imagine you fucking yourself and try to learn from that. Thanks for visiting!

  • Ok, thanks! Would you mind showing me how to go about fucking myself? You sound like an expert.

  • Ignore my previous comment I couldn't hear the sound. The Old Testament is the old covenant so the rituals in it no longer stand. For example there are stonings in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament Jesus said "he who has not sinned cast the first stone". If you think the UN is about equality you are very misinformed, the UN wants to outlaw Christianity. The UN and EU are full of communists. Unless I take it you are of the communist mindset?

  • I would donate all of my life's savings to the UN if I thought it was really working to outlaw christianity. Christians always say that they no longer follow the Old Testament, but they refuse to get rid of it! Why don't you separate the New Testament completely? Is it because without the Old Testament you couldn't continue hating homosexuals?

  • Did I say I know longer follow the Old Testament? I said the rituals no longer stand but the moral orders do ie the ten commanments. It says in Leviticus 18:22 that homosexuality is an abomination. Where does it say in the Bible to hate homosexuals?

  • Leviticus 24:11-16 call for a community gathering in order to stone to death those who plant two different crops in the same field or wear garments made of two different kinds of threads. Leviticus 20:10 states that "if a man commits adultery with the wife of another man both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death." So ... do you follow all of Leviticus or only some of its passages? What about stoning children who "talk back" to their parents?

  • I already explained that the moral orders stand but the rituals don't anymore as its the old covenant. Jesus made it perfectly clear about stoning.

He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her

    John 8:7

  • Let me guess ... you have an excuse for not following the rest of the bible, and an explanation why it's ok to continue hating homosexuals, right? Typical christian.

  • Typical ignorant commie trying to force your totalitarian views on me.

  • LMAO! Alright, well, you are correct about one thing. Democracy and Humanism will definitely impose their values on those who would spread religious hatred another 2000 years. We will not allow it. You will be made to respect the values of equality under the law, social justice, gender equality, and peace. We won't care what you say or think, you're free to continue believing in talking serpents and the walking dead, but you will NOT be allowed to corrupt the law with your disease.

  • Communsim is not a democracy, its the opposite.

  • I haven't advocated Soviet communism in this conversation. Democracy and science will continue progressing Humanity beyond the disease of religion. Thanks for your comments! May the Tooth Fairy sprinkle fairy dust on your pillow!

  • It might not be obvious to you, considering you are a believer of bronze age myths. Please watch the video again and pause from time to time to think about what I've said. Take notes if necessary. You can do it, I have confidence that your brain is not completely riddled with biblical passages. Thanks for visiting!
