The first Gene Wilder film I watched was the old Willy Wonka when I was 5. I looked up to him. (mostly because I thought he controled a magic land filled with chocolate... but still...) He semed like someone who could look into your soul in the nicest way. He seemed like a nice, truly nice person. I based all this on one movie, and even though I knew he was acting, I still just KNEW he was a great person! His eyes are so ice blue... yet they still manage to convey warmth.

Gene Wilder is and will always be a legend. No one has made me laugh more than Gene!! The Producers is a masterpiece and probably my all time favorite comedy, Willy Wonka was brilliant and contains many of Gene's unique acting abilities! That panicking loud stress voice that he does is so over the top yet you it's believable within the context of the story and hysterical to watch him do. Nobody has made me laugh and smile more the Gene Wilder. Thank you so much Gene!!!

willy wonka was a commercial flop though and only made 4 million dollars, plus Dahl hated it, but i guess the author has a right to hate since he probably had the whole wonka world different in his head. I reckon they should do a Re-Release of the film :) as much of a great actor depp is - i didn't like the new wonka film. This one is classic.
