how on earth did that peter grant stay on the park? Did the ref have a bet on him scoring a goal or something, see a lot of green n white bigots shout a lot about refs being against them but they never seem bright enough to realize it can happen the other way around too, if its true what they say, a ref could be wanting the green n white team to win. Anyway nothing really wrong I guess in Celtic being the pride of Ireland. Guinness and Celtic F.C are the only 2 main exports Eire proudly has
the amount of class acts there was back then. always have been great players right up till a decade ago perhaps then its just all fell away to fuck. Its frustrating they didn't manage to get those players to do it on the big stage, nobody can say they didn't have the players back then to compete with the best in Europe unlike today when its a world apart. They just failed on the big stage, didn't adapt the style of play, the euro teams just knew how to play in euro stage where as we didn't
@MrStruth One more thing.I really cant understand why you are trying to make out Rangers to be a bigger and better club than celtic. That celtic are a cancer and rangers are not. Both clubs are huge and both have a bad side to them.Im a celtic fan but im an honest celtic fan.Right now an average rangers side is on top, while the current players at celtic arent fit to wear the hoops.Things swing in roundabouts,Celtic will dominate again, and then so will rangers, its always been like that.
@jaysea32 I believe Rangers are a bigger and certainly better club yes, you are correct in that both clubs have a bad side to them however it is without doubt that Celtic have brought about a mass hysteria in our game by using Refs Linesman and anyone else as blame for their shortcomings, whilst saying nowt when they are on top.
At present both teams are not at their strongest, not much between them but Rangers are slightly better and have a better will to win attitude than Celtic do.
@MrStruth Yes re upload it,and show every chance. The saves by woods, the great celtic goal, and of course everything rangers did. Then lets see who was better that day.As for celtic and referees?Im glad Celtic have spoken out after so many years of deliberate cheating by refs. Not all,but a lot have been bent. That man dallas is an utter disgracea and i cant believe people stand up for him.Ive hated him ever since that disgraceful performance at parkhead in the 3-0 game.
First Old Firm game, was aged 13 and remember it like it was yesterday. MO MO F*CK UR MO.........Cooper was class that day, I've still the wole game on video somehwere as I spotted myself and my dad in the crowd.
The irish league is terrible and while celtic are a poor shadow of their former selves, they would walk that league, even with the duds in their team the now.
Celtic are a huge club who have had great and poor teams. They are poor the now,but will be great again. You have to be dilussional or just a blind rangers man to come out with that ridiculous statement.
this was my first old firm final cant remember much about it,i was right next to the rangers fans on the far side great atmosphere even though celtic got beat, thats when old firm players got stuck in.
Mr Struth why have you edited this video to make it look like Rangers dominated? It was Celtic in fact who dominated this game but you have edited it out.Come on be fair man and show all the action.
I agree the editing is poor, jumps too much, but believe me when I say this, Rangers dominated most of the match, I uploaded it more to highlight the amount of fouls Celtic commited without any resulting in a red card !
How Peter Grant lasted the 90 mins is anyones guess, Cooper was kicked all over the park.
I disagree.Nevertheless this was a good game.Never a penalty though.Peter Grant?Hopeless and was carried by better players in the 80s,until the 90s came and, well you know the rest.
I know your a Rangers man but your vids would be even better if your vids werent so in favour of just Rangers action.Yes im a Celtic fan,but also a football fan and i watch all vids, including Rangers games.
@jaysea32 This is a good point. I'm Rangers but I want to see the Celtic goals as well. There was no aftermath or replay for McLair's goal and it would have been just as interesting for me to see it as for me to see the Rangers action.
@CraigG1960 Yes true.I watch all old firm games on youtube whether celtic win or lose. The games should be savoured. The uploader is clearly biased and has ruined what should have been a good upload because he hates celtic so much.
Honestly i remember this game as a kid and celtic were the better team, they missed so many chances yet this isnt shown.Total biased video.Oh,and that was never a penalty kick, ive never seen such a big man like butcher fall as theatricaly as that since lol.
would love to see a rangers v celtic game but never have. the atmosphere must be brilliant. is it worth my while to travel and see a game? im a rangers fan in case your wondering!
It was the last time I ever went to Hampden. I suffered a broken ankle during the celebration at Durrants goal. I remember the Celtic fans when McClair scored, you could see them going crazy as the ball hit the net but it was totally silent....then this wall of noise arrived..
@SirEdmund89 yeah deffo, its just not the same now the atmosphere, they know we always had a much better atmosphere than celtic ever could have, we just have many many more uplifting and rousing anthems than they do and they tried to put a dent if not a bullet in that, its nothing to do with being offended, why go decades and decades of ignoring it if you don't like it to being ever so offended? Its just to try and kill off the Gers spirit to try and make that filter down to dropped points
i think you would call this video "carefully edited" at best. football tackles and challenges were much more ferocious and frequent in these days. look at aitken - he makes about 9 and stays on the pitch. it was just the status quo back then. i dont think for a minute the rangers players weren't fouling in equal quantities. of course even if they were, we wouldn't see it in these selective clips
umm no - facts. have you seen the full match? i'll let you watch it if you like. i have a copy. or do you deny this video is a) heavily edited, and b) done so by a rangers fan? start living in the real world.
the ref didnt bottle it. as i said, it was the status quo then. if refs were to give reds 4 the type of challenges they do today it would have been left with 3 vs 2. attitudes & "laws" were different. dont get on yr high horse making it "your gang's dirtier than my gang" because i could easily post a carefully selected vid of classic rangers hacks vs celtic - souness on a bootless billy stark only a yr after this for a start. however, like my own edit of this game, it isnt something i wish to do
Loaferil,Much as I agree Brian McClair,s goal was a good one but there are many old firm goals who I beleive better that strike.
Henrik Larsson in the 6-2 game in 2000,Murdo Mcleod in the 1986 4 -4 old firm match at Ibrox, Ray Wilkins in the 5-1 rangers win in 1988, Bert Konterman in the league cup semi final in 2002.
To an old firm fan any goal scored against your most fiercest rivals is a goal to remember.
What an unbelievable goal by Brian McClair. Has to be one of the best goals in an Old Firm game ever - the pass from Aitken, the lay off by Johnston and the finish by McClair. Just genius. I remember this game and this was one of the goals of the season. I'm not a fan of either of these teamsl, but this was the highlight of the match. McClair was the greatest striker in Scotland during that period, no surprise he went on to do so well with Man U.
this was my first celtic -rangers game, what a terrible result but a great game of football. davie cooper ran the show,he was a true great of the game and is still missed to this day. our bus must have passed EVERY rangers fan in scotland that day after the game, it seemed every one of them held 2 fingers on one hand and one on the other at us. davie cooper RIP hail hail
