I think you even see Blade singing Michaels theme song on completion of the match. This for me is the greatest wrestlemania match in history. This is AS REAL as any professional match could be.

I mean it was a defining moment for two great wrestlers, but those guys were having one minute rest intervals between falls. It couldn't compare to this. This is wrestling at its finest, Two of the greatest pro wrestlers in history giving everything for 60 minutes. No way is wrestling not a sport when it's like this. It's such a shame the ratings war made Vince remodify wrestling as not a sport
I never liked this match. Neither guy wanted to lose first, so they completely blew the storyline of battling to get more pinfalls, which keeps the 60 minutes flowing...instead, they just traded moves aimlessly, working body parts for no reason and even forgetting to sell after awhile. Both Bret and Shawn have had MUCH, MUCH better matches...they just hated each other too much to work great together.
The "reality" of this match is largely in part due to their personal real-life rivalry they had against each other....those takedowns early in the match seem so real, like Shawn was actually mad and tossing Bret across the rign
Even though Attitude Era was my favorite time in WWE, I seriously think the wrestling was FAR better during Bret Hart's era. This style of technical wrestling was so creative and entertaining because it was about the match! Not the promo! Ever since Attitude Era and so forth, it's over 90% punching, kicking, and slamming which gets REALLY boring sometimes.
This match is the best match of all time no questions asked. This match didn't need a ladder, or huge spots, or high impact finishers...this was the match that defined everything a top billed match should be. I'm a huge Bret fan but it didn't even matter he lost because it was his time to pass it on because it was HBK's time to get the title. Bret did everything before HBK and he probably held him back in a way bc of their similar size and overness and keeping that slot filled. HBK deserved it.

@Rvd420WHAT Well time limit ends it's a draw, or a stalemate. In this scenario, the champion retains. that's why bret was walking out of the title. Monsoon and Piper called for the overtime period. Ironman matches have the ultimate championship advantage. It would have been fine if Bret lost it to HBK a few weeks later in a rematch, but I agree Rvd420WHAT that it was wrong what they did. the stalemate / draw angle would have been more epic if you think about it anyway.

@jamelpingo Bret and HBK were both faces at this time. The result of this match started Bret turning heel, gave him an edge. it wasn't until survivor series that put him over as a consistent heel. Remember, HBK was in his prime and Bret lost fans when he went against HBK as fans had to choose sides to an extent. Although many fans still cheered bret even during his heel days.
@baiteme you make a good point. but the biggest match of them all was the 60 minute match that ended 0-0. Bret Hart should have retained his title in an Ironman match. That started the heel turn, but i agree that WM 13 and Survivor series put him over the edge.

@HHHMovies Damn right. It made me sick to see when John Cena and Randy Orton had their iron man match. I mean it was a defining moment for two great wrestlers, but those guys were having one minute rest intervals between falls. It couldn't compare to this. This is wrestling at its finest, Two of the greatest pro wrestlers in history giving everything for 60 minutes. No way is wrestling not a sport when it's like this. It's such a shame the ratings war made Vince remodify wrestling as not a sport

I never liked this match. Neither guy wanted to lose first, so they completely blew the storyline of battling to get more pinfalls, which keeps the 60 minutes flowing...instead, they just traded moves aimlessly, working body parts for no reason and even forgetting to sell after awhile. Both Bret and Shawn have had MUCH, MUCH better matches...they just hated each other too much to work great together.

The "reality" of this match is largely in part due to their personal real-life rivalry they had against each other....those takedowns early in the match seem so real, like Shawn was actually mad and tossing Bret across the rign

Even though Attitude Era was my favorite time in WWE, I seriously think the wrestling was FAR better during Bret Hart's era. This style of technical wrestling was so creative and entertaining because it was about the match! Not the promo! Ever since Attitude Era and so forth, it's over 90% punching, kicking, and slamming which gets REALLY boring sometimes.

This match is the best match of all time no questions asked. This match didn't need a ladder, or huge spots, or high impact finishers...this was the match that defined everything a top billed match should be. I'm a huge Bret fan but it didn't even matter he lost because it was his time to pass it on because it was HBK's time to get the title. Bret did everything before HBK and he probably held him back in a way bc of their similar size and overness and keeping that slot filled. HBK deserved it.

@mk4013 i actually thought HBKs best match was with chris jericho or kurt angle before undertaker but that undertaker/hbk match was really badass. The thing that gets most people dick hard about that match is because its an ACTUALLY GOOD undertaker match where he has so many shitty matches. not to say undertaker hasn't had motherfucking badass ones its just he has a big list of shitty ones.

I think WWE should have at least one 60 minute ironman title match every year or at least every few years. cena vs orton was okay, but it wasn't a real ironman matches. i think sheamus vs cena in a 60 minute ironman match or something. heck sheamus vs anyone in a 60 minute ironman match would be cool.

@Rvd420WHAT Well time limit ends it's a draw, or a stalemate. In this scenario, the champion retains. that's why bret was walking out of the title. Monsoon and Piper called for the overtime period. Ironman matches have the ultimate championship advantage. It would have been fine if Bret lost it to HBK a few weeks later in a rematch, but I agree Rvd420WHAT that it was wrong what they did. the stalemate / draw angle would have been more epic if you think about it anyway.

@jamelpingo Bret and HBK were both faces at this time. The result of this match started Bret turning heel, gave him an edge. it wasn't until survivor series that put him over as a consistent heel. Remember, HBK was in his prime and Bret lost fans when he went against HBK as fans had to choose sides to an extent. Although many fans still cheered bret even during his heel days.

@baiteme you make a good point. but the biggest match of them all was the 60 minute match that ended 0-0. Bret Hart should have retained his title in an Ironman match. That started the heel turn, but i agree that WM 13 and Survivor series put him over the edge.
