  • Awesome! Don't think I've ever gotten sounds like that out of my MS2000.

  • Fuck I really liked the sound of this synth it sounds so fat and layered

  • and yes the ms2000/microkorg are very good synths to do lsdj and chiptunes...the ensoniq esq-1 and sq-80 are very good for chiptunes too bc the guy who made most of the c64 old game system 8-bit sounds and music is the same guy who made the esq-1 and sq-80!

  • ppl all it is is a square wave with a lfo on s\h and the rate all the way up...its easy on the ms2000 and the microkorg...shit on any synth its easy lol

  • mine should be on the door step today!

  • Cool vid. Recently bought another ms2kbr. Every time I sell one, I end up buying another. Should stop selling it lol.

  • Can some1 who have MS2K Write me program (A14 - DWGS WaveSeq) settings bcz i love to edit from scratch:P I don't own ms2k but i'll try to recreate that patch on Radias and microKorg,i really like it...

Please some1 send patch settings via PM.

    Thanks in advance :P

  • @Tallinea just saying i like that patch, thats all

  • the paint job on the 2000B sure beats the hell out of my 2000. I think I gonna have to take the front off and repaint mine!

  • If I were you I'd just sell it and buy a 2000B instead. That way you also get the mic input on the front panel and you dont mess up the print.

  • @DennisBastian Well, the mic input is on the top of the rack version, which is equally annoying because you can't put anything above it in your rack mount.

  • @LackOfTolerance This is the ONE thing I absolutely hate about this synth. I have mine in a rack mounted IN my studio desk, and plugging cables in and taking them out of this synth, especially with my studio deak setup, is a nightmare. That said, this is probably my favotire synth in my collection. Well, this one and my Nord Lead 2x.

  • Sounds like Flynn from 50/50 picking contestants.

  • my god, it sounds amazing... a sort of crystal castles air war sound, or atlantis to interzone.

great vid! does anyone know whether you would be able to get this sound through editing a preset on a microkorg?

  • Yeah you should be able to do this on a microkorg, its the same synth engine, pretty much the same synth internally, the only real difference between the synths is the ms2000 has a 16 step seq as opposed to the 8 on the micro, and it has a better quality vocoder, the midi data for the patches are pretty much interchangable.

There is a good patch editor floating around the web that works for the micro and the ms2000, probably be able to download some presets like this from somewhere.

  • Thanks for the reply, i'll definitely download that patch editor when i find it, i think i did see it somewhere, probably on the korg site...

I did create a patch like this on my microkorg, it sounds good, but not quite as good as this - i'll tweek it.

    thanks again.

  • Let me tell you how its done

-Use one oscilator set to square wave

-set patch one up so that lfo 1 (also set to square wave) modulates the pitch, set the patch intensity to full

    - set patch 2 up he same way but with lfo 2 instead of lfo 1 and less modulation amount.

-set up patch 3 and 4 just like 1 and 2, but modulating the filter cutoff instead of the pitch

then all you do is screw around with the lfo frequency and delay

  • as for the lfos I meant s/h instead of square, of course...

  • Have to give that a try in the next couple of days.

  • Thanks alot for the info, its really helpful.

  • I actually have the editor on disc somewhere, if i find it in the next couple of days, ill paste a link on here.

You will of course need a USB/PCI midi rig for your PC/Mac in order to edit the patches.

I no longer own a microkorg, but still have my ms2000, its a great synth, i just found it too fidgity.

  • Thanks so much, that would be really useful! I do have a usb-midi cable.

Originally, i did try to get the ms2000 on ebay, but i had a hardtime getting one for a reasonably cheap price, so i settled on the microkorg, which is my first synth, and its working well for me :D

  • The Aliens are here. i hear what you say. We mean you no harm, welcome to earth. Ha Ha, only joking. Great demo. well done. thanks for posting. LOL .

  • so ms 2000 perfect for making IDM, powernoise and glitch

  • I dont know, I only make sounds like this when I'm high, not when I'm working on a track. Its real easy to program though so I guess its good for IDM.

  • If you rrecording interface was having issues, you should have sorted them out before broadcasting yourself

  • but I didn't

  • This is iradical man, djsmithy said it best..!

  • how did you get it to hold that long? is that from the release or sustain or?

  • thats the ms 2000B. you should change your title so it says ms2000B.

    thanks for demo video.

  • You're right. It's exactly the same as the ms2000 though, except for the xlr input and the black paint.

  • cool, i didnt kno that. im about to pick one up 2day!!

the sounds you use in your demo drove me to want the machine more.

  • Cool, hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

  • quality IDM patch

  • ALIENS ARE RAPING MY NOSTRILS. :S

  • And at what effect is at 0:58? how do you make that sound?

  • Sample and hold modulating the pitch and filter cutoff, thats all.

  • How much the MS2000 cost? and the R3?
