  • lol "im sleepy" :)

  • I saw that one! (the television program)

  • We Asians don't need to show it all we need to focus on right now is school :D

  • asian families... it's not that we don't care or love, but we are expected to know that already without words. Showing someone you love them is giving respect. We asians are very big on respect!

  • Are you kidding me? Asians are sentimental! We are all about family, we value family.

  • @OsanaiE not as much as western families. We (Asians) are usually on bout money, success of their kid or local gossip and shiz (or maybe thats just mine) LOL. Western families seem much more warm and caring especially wen it comes to celebration; but dun get me wrong, asian families are quite caring too in some areas but just a general overview, it appears the way I see it. :)

  • Crap, a day late. It's the thought that counts tho, eh?

  • @jlklai98 Phil's dad wad speaking mandarin Chinese but Wes' speaks Cantonese. And I can speak both XD

  • Do you guys speak Mandarin Chinese or Cantonese?

  • @jlklai98 i think wes speaks Cantonese but thats i know...

  • we Filipinos are so much louder... damn, I have to wake up early but I'm watching every single one of these touching and awesome Wong Fu productions videos and pwangs videos and thewesleychan videos! >:|

  • ahw... it's kinda awkward saying those stuff to parents.. sometimes they are just so distant... so are we children... maybe because we(asians) were like brought up to have fear and respect to our parents.. that is why it's kinda awkward to do those stuff... besides, we are not that "showy" with our emotions...

i loved this vid :) it's really touching and nice... i seldom do it, maybe i'll try to do it often this time... hehe

  • my parents watch that show... i never rlly got it :P

  • I think my parents watch that show. o_o

Or maybe all Chinese TV shows look the same. xD

    Yup, I think it's that.

  • That's Asian life, except for Filipinos there a bit more energetic

  • @ilikefastcars65

    yeah, we are. xDD

  • asians can be really different. with my mum it would feel awkward to say stuff like 'thanks' or 'i love you' but with my extended family it would feel awkward not to show you're thankful.

  • Turn off the lights and stuff

  • ahh so true. Asian families are never sentimental or emotional.... but when we are for once it's soo dramatic -.- lol

  • @ilikejuice123 haitians are the same way except we never get sentimental unless we are joking around. ^-^

  • @ilikejuice123 just like our soaps :)m

  • because were asian.. or something.. xD

  • what the heck did philip wang major in :\ (referring to the opening science rant)

  • The food and drinks make me starving to death and thirsty to death

  • this makes mee so oo hungry!!

  • people seldom thank their parents. They're not always going to be there so you need to charish the time you have with them while they still are. And if you haven't said thank you to your parents yet, stop reading this comment and go thank them already!

  • All part of Phil's Life. So now where's Cathy? x)

  • @Cjarreola93 its cathy and wes not cathy and phil

  • @flyinchicken101 I was referencing their new video on isatv.com >>" (Screen-Test) Fighting off raptors and that sort haha :)

  • 1:35

    Ok watch tv

Does not sound like typical asian dad

  • Awww is that Phil's grandma?! So cute!

  • So down to earth and sweet :) phillip!! :)

  • haha. funny. my parents are like that too. i'll be talking to them and by the time i notice it, they're already snoring. lol. love parents. haha

  • Phil reminded me of eric foreman in this lol. but more asian.

  • Phil said 爸,妈,姐,舅?

  • you make me proud to be asian (:

  • Papa jumba is sentimental and he's asian *sarcasm*

  • Probably the most down to earth, straight up Wong Fu video ever. Wong fu should consider reverting back to these types of classic videos every now and then.

  • i come from an asian family and i feel like since we're Christian and we spend a lot of time saying grace, there's always that opportunity for us to say aloud what we're thankful for. you should come to our house to eat! :D

  • CHINESE FTW!!

  • AWW, the chicken looks delicious and tasty. I m hungry.....

  • this video is so true . (:

  • They should have had his dad smile right when he left the room.

  • @rofl729 Yeah, like open his eyes for a couple seconds, then close them again with a small smile on his lips.

  • why do i get the feeling that his father is pretending to sleep? oh, i love the tv program :D haha, smash fail :D

  • why is it called seldom?

  • @JESUSFREAK1821 maybe it's because it's not something they would say everyday. you know, tell everyone that they're thankful of them. so yeah. seldom means rarely or not often, so that would why the title is called seldom.

  • That is one ooolllddd grandma!

  • Uhmm, Serotonin doesn't make you sleepy? Melatonin does...

  • I'm Italian and we don't get emotional, we either hit each other or yell at each other.

  • It's pretty cool that their all Chinese. I am as well! =D

  • I think it would've been a really nice twist if the dad opened his eyes at the end and indirectly suggest to the watchers that he was only pretending to sleep because he does not want to get "sentimental" but at the same time he's glad that his son is thankful for everything he's done.

I love the simplicity of this piece. We really should appreciate our family more. After all we only have one main family.

  • ?...awww! ???......

  • TURKEY!!!

  • are those people phil's real parents? finally! got to see his parents!! (:(: his so cute

  • how do people not like this??? its actually good..

  • out of 213 videos from yellow fever to strangers, again.

this is by far the most realistic video..at least for me being the typical 16 year old.

    thank you phil.

  • Tryphtophan :)

  • What channel is that? at 0:37?

  • wait....makes the body produce melatonin... not seratonin..haha. whatever. it's fine.

  • really? asians isn't sentimental people? yes, we do. :))

  • Phil, teach me chinese.. I am failing chinese class. :)) i simply love you and your work. <3

  • SO FULL?

HOW IS YOUR TUMMY STILL SO SMALL?

  • I love how he says "sleepy" :3

  • This is awesome.

  • philip is teary eyed. awww.

  • i always love when i can understand things that are in a foreign language. it makes me feel accomplished.

  • @cynthiayl12 me too! :D

  • how can anyone dislike this??

  • beautiful, well done :) I think the music probly should've been softer tho...

  • Phil, you remind me a lot of my older brother. xD

  • "are you sleepy?"

    "mmm"

    "i'm sleepyy"

haha i love how he says sleepy (:

  • I like how you are giving your dad a science lesson and he responds watch TV! ahahah

  • turkey!:)

as an asian, i never had an actual thanksgiving dinner, like a REAL one with the giant turkey. sad, really.

but i'm really thankful that my friends would invite me to their family thanksgiving dinner to allow me to experiance the american holiday:) i just think my mom can't make turkey, i guess. she usually makes duck rather than turkey on that day... but i still love my family! haha!:D

  • @kikyocutie1317 We don't even have turkey for Thanksgiving anymore. We have some sort of Chinese mixes meals. The only thing I care about is getting together, I guess. :)

  • his dad has a taiwanese accent!! kan dian si!

  • This is awsome

  • The glasses pop on and off his Pa! WOO-HOO!

    SHUTTER ISLAND, MUCH?

  • 78 people aren't thankful for their family members.

  • typical chinese father.. weird thing is.. my dad isn't like that, my bro is.

  • you know..when a child transforms into a teenager then to a young man/woman..you seldom hear people like them to say thank you to their parents. but when i saw this video and philip..i cried because i can see myself in him..because i never remembered to say thank you to my mom nor my dad.. : (

i wanted to say thank you to philip for making me realize that i should be thankful for having such loving and caring parents! THANK YOU!

  • @theredphoenix96 thats deep

  • @theredphoenix96 AAGGHHH WHY IS UR COMENT SO HIGH IN LIKES?

  • did u say appa?

  • @LissaDRox1996 lol he said Pa, also means appa (아바) in Korean or Daddy in short for English

  • I think he's saying 爸 (ba; dad in chinese)

  • @HelloPandaBiscuit Lol, yes, he is.

  • @lynnnguyen57

Pretty sure he said ba. Baba is Chinese for father and mama for mother. He just shortened it to ba and ma when referring to his parents.

  • jeez, that sounds like my honors biology class.

  • I wanna eat so much right now...o-o

  • serotonin makes you happy and horny, and since nobody but your family is around on thanksgiving you feel like it's best to sleep the horniness off :)

  • I loved that

  • now that i think of it, i've never said that to my family

  • yay!! mandarin i can understand the tv :)

  • <3

  • @itsbrian517

Phil is chinese, from this region called Anhui, according to some posts I read below. I read almost all the posts cus I wanted to see if other ppl also hv the same kind of umm "not speaking aloud their thanks" kinda feeling abt their family. and most do :(

  • @ohxsnaps In one of the Taiwanese American interview, they said that both Ted and Phil are Taiwanese. I guess Taiwanese is still Chinese; however, many Taiwanese do not agree on it.

  • @LvChineseGrl

    lol whatever theyre all asian

  • @ohxsnaps haha, true.

  • @LvChineseGrl wesley is cantonese

  • @adrianchanwp I don't think youtube took my comment, but yeah, I know Wes is Cantonese. The reason is because I am Cantonese too, I can tell just by his last name. :)

  • @ohxsnaps Phil's Grandpa is from Anhui, and evacuated to Taiwan, so Phil's dad was born in Taiwan (or maybe mainland). He went to US and get married so Phil was born in US.

  • WHY DOESN'T PHIL SPEAK IN CHINESE :(

  • @sotyuxin Because then most of us won't understand it....

  • 0:50 that was me...

  • ahhh, it's mandarin.. can't understand.. needs Cantonese.. like Wes XD

  • Yes mando!

  • That is soooo like us! I'm a happa so I guess that means at least Asian and mixed families are like this. My Dad was asleep in front of the tv within an hour and I was asleep about ten minutes after that. We go in an out of consciousness to Mom talking. I'm not sure if she ever stops talking and we just grunt the few times we open our eyes.

  • hmm, i thought it was just us americans eating food because of the earlier american setttlers making some agreement with the first americans before they took over their lands.

  • Your granny looks so cute!

  • asains dont celebrate thanks giving. i know coz i am one =)

  • @doublem1m1 just cause your family doesn't celebrate it, doesn't mean every "asian" family doesn't either.

  • @doublem1m1 some asians do celebrate thanksgiving T_T. its a great time for family gathering. . .

  • Cant wait! Thanksgiving is in a week!!

  • I HAVE THE SAME REMOTE!!

  • what i enjoy is that they made a whole thanksgiving meal like 2-3 weeks before thanksgiving :D! 2 delicious awesome meals in 1 month for 1 holiday. epic.
