What a cute puppy! I'm using a picture of Gritty from another source as my logo on a fantasy football team where your team name and mascot have to have something to do with the Sea near you and I picked "Chesapeake Bay Retrievers" since I'm a UMBC grad and live near the Bay.
I'm old enough remember the very first mascots. And to answer one question, it's a Chesapeake Bay Retriever not a Lab, though they are very similar. "Lab" is short for Labrador Retriever: it's a retriever in either case!

He is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, actually...the mascot of UMBC. They're really sweet dogs! He's quite big now :)
