  • you and your rats are awesome! this video was really useful as i am planning on getting a couple of rat kittens(does ideally) this summer and i am really keen on animal training. i actually clicker train my cat! and it works!

  • I just got a rat today. He is about 1 month old and I was wondering how long it should take for him to warm up to me?

  • @DaftArtifex I find it only takes a couple of days but I know it can take some people a few weeks. It varies. ;)

  • im about to get a rat today, and im a little nervous that im going to get an aggresive rat. i have made great friends with my friends hooded rex rat, "Muzzy", and part of what i like about him is the fact that he is very calm, and he just hangs out on your neck inside your sweatshirt hood. is there a way that i can tell?

  • @uberguitargeek If it does't bare its teath and arch its back as if to strike you should be ok. ; )

  • One question.can I also do this with my rabbit ? would he get it ?

  • @TheDivalicious1996 I recon he would but you would probably have to be more persistant. ; )

  • @TheRatGirl4ever Sounds cute. : )

  • What do U use for treats?

  • @MysticalMeow Shreddies

  • will this work for mice?? im getting 3 2day

  • This type of training is about associating sounds which works on most critters so you shouldn't have any problem. ; )

  • im going to start training my rat in march =]

  • Good luck. As long as the little guy is tame and happy to run around the room like heck then he(she?) is ready. XD

  • I've seen this rat training technique before. It does work! Cute rats, too.

  • Good times, good times. : D

    And thanks.

  • I cant wait to try it! I love rats and I cant wait to get one!

  • Good luck : D

(rats are happyer in pairs by the way)

  • yyyeeesss it works ty very much

  • No problemo ; )

  • P.S.

I advised her to watch all of your videos! :)

  • Hay thanks ^^

  • Very helpful!!! sooo sooo fun when your little ratty finally does the tricks you ask it to do! :)

My best friend was stoked on my rat, she went out and got her own lol.

  • Eventually ; )

  • Thanks so much for making these videos!

  • No problem and thanks.

  • Your videos are SO helpful!!! thanks a bunch!!!:)

  • No problem. Glad you like 'em. XD

  • my rat is chewing on the bars in her cage is that bad?! is it overgrown teeth! i am very worryed please tell me please! :(

  • Rats sometimes behave like this because they want to wear their teath (as you said) but it could be because your rat isn't happy in his cage-it could be too small, may not have enough inside to keep him entertained or he is in need of some company. Hope this helps.

  • ohhh okai thxs i was gettin' really scared that they wouldn't love me like they loved eachother :)

  • No worries.

  • Yes ,this video was useful . :)

  • Huzzah!

  • cute rats

  • Thankyou very much : D

  • I gess NeickoPow Your right thxs

  • Hey, i see your rats are free ranged... i would love it do that with my rats but i have some concerns. could you possibally answer them?? thanks.

    - Wouldnt they hide under the beds?

    - Would they pee and poo on the carpet?

Could you please answer those 2 questions :P

  • -Yes they will hide under beds but if given time they will gradually explore the room and get used to their suroundings so they will stop hiding at some point ; )

-Rats tend to poop and pee in the same place so once they start to poop and pee in you cage they don't have a choice) they will continue to poop and pee only in the cage. In the event they do their buisness outside the cage let me know in a personal message and I'll tell you how to toilet train them ; )

  • cool

  • One of my Lost friends(Don't really play around with her anymore)says that if I get 2 rats they would be closer to eachother than me but i've looked up on google:P ad it says that if I on;y get one they could get depressed?...What/Who should i believe?

  • You would still be their "master" because your the person cleaning, playing, feeding, grooming, loving the rats :)

your basically the dad and their your sons :P

  • Or Mom and their daughters?

  • If you give them lots of attention they will become just as close to you as they are with each other.. Lonely ratties can become very depressed.

  • okai thxs! oh and just to let you know when i get my rats i'm going to use only your ways to teach them! yours are the best!

  • Thats so sweet. Thanks mate ; )

  • i don't get it -- when do you say "beg" and when do you give a treat?

  • Hold the treat above the rats nose and he will rise to his hinde quarters to reach it. Say beg when your rat rises and then give him the treat. Eventually after a bit of training you will only have to give the comand and he will beg ; )

  • Hay thanks. Glad you like them. There are a couple more vids I've gotta do but my laptop had died a death so nothing is happening yet. Bah! Its anoying.

  • YES!!! thank you so much for that names I love them! <3 You got me the first name i read "Coda" !!...I love it (all of them) Thank You! <3If you find any more be sure to tell me :D

  • Yay! XD I'm out of ideas now but I'll keep you posted ; )

  • i'm gettin' my rat un january for my birthday i'm gettin' 2 of them my mom wants 2 brothers for me so they don't fight but i'm thinking i'm gonna name ine Ideal but i can't find another name can you halp? (i like names that r really different like "Ideal,Idell,Counteal,Tro etc. please give me some names <3

  • Coda

    Satchel

    Seran

    Crow

    Rei

    Tarca

    Stray

These are some very different names. Any good?

  • Very nice! I can't wait to get my rats!

  • Why thankyou : P

Rats make great pets. You've got a lot to look forward too ; )

  • Yeah, I had two last year they passed... :'(

  • Sorry to hear about that : (

  • I'm a first time rat owner, and I love my little Onion immensely! And your training videos give us something to do while I let her run around outside of her cage :3 thank you! They're very helpful!

  • Goog, good. I'm happy to help : 3

By the way your rattie has one awesome name : P

  • your ratties are so cute!!!

im thinking i might try these (obviously starting with teaching taylor to recognise reward sounds) just gotta figure out a reward food, cos we feed him mostly human food, he loves dinner with us lol - oh he likes sweet potato, but thats a bit inconvenient for a treat....

  • Thanks. Try breakfast serials. Rats usually love that stuff. Its helthy too.

  • Where did you get your rats from, a pet store or a breeder?

  • One very good pet store-they were well cared for there.

  • this has helped so much andmy rat learned that trick in one day smart rat right? Ta Ta,Cheerio,Bye Bye,Peace out!!!!!!!!

  • Well done ; ) I always advise people on my videos to spend a few days on the training as it takes some rats longer to learn tricks than others but, like yours, some pick stuff up very quikly. "Yay!"

  • These vids are awesome!!! I just got another baby rat and I want to train her :)

  • Hay thanks. Just make sure you give her time to settle in first. She will need to be fully tame and will have to be 100% confident outside the cage. Good luck!

  • lol huraaaahhhh!!!

i love your rats, their so cute!

  • Tehehe. Thanks.

I hate making the videos too formal. The huraaahhh was rather feeble too cause I hade a saw throte lol!

  • yea i just got an 8 week old boy should i start training him now

  • Thats a good age to start but he must be fully tame and confident outside the cage. If he is still afraid of "the big wide world" he will be more concerned about where the nearest hiding place is that the treat he will get for the trick. Good luck!

  • Well to start when did your rat begin bitting? How many do you have? Roughly what age was your rat when you got him/her?

If you could give me the answers to these questions it will be easyer for me to help : )

I'm not worried that mine will bite. They are very tame and enjoy lots of attention. Oh yeah and I've had them for juat a little over a year ; )

  • how old are you? that is so cool! gonna try it on my rats! :D

  • Check my account for that one ; ) And have fun training. Its an easy trick to teach.

  • awesome im going to start teaching now, Thankyou!

  • No problem : ) Enjoy!

  • i L.O.V.E CHEDDAR!! xD

  • LOL this is soo cool you can become a pro rat trainer!! (not lieing) THEY ARE SO CUTE!! :3

  • Lol thanks. I gess I just find them easy to train-I just some how know what to do (I don't use books or anything). Yay Cheddar has a fan : P

  • Thankyou : ) Some of the sound is out of sinc to wards the end but I'm glad you liked it.
