You are in violation of code 762.4558. which states you must keep your elevator keys organized also code 762.2018 excessive fumbling to get to your keys and lastly 762.4308 illegal use of a fire service, and just a crappy video overall..
Do you post signage that allows people to know that the elevator is out of service when you do your illegal fire service testing? What would you do if the controller faulted out while you were doing your illegal fire service test and you got stuck in the car?No amount of keys will help you then and you sure will look stupid when the service tech comes out to free you and he finds the car still on fire service in the fault log.
Interesting! I went to a church once that had a copy of the Dover key for each keyhole (except Fire Service I think) and they were all left in. How many elevator keys do you have (not just for Dover, but all in general?)
everybody jimster gave diecelducy and musicfreakcc the keys diecelducy told me and @musicfreekcc what does photo key meaan because i saw it on the elevator at school
The Photo Eye keyswitch switches off the one or two "magic eye" beams that will stop the door if there is an obstruction. It was the predecessor to the modern "light curtain" system like Otis Lambda 3D and ThyssenKrupp Microlight. They were installed in the last elevators with bumpers and are frequently installed in modernizations.
@elevatorgeek1234 According to my 2001 ThyssenKrupp Elevator Owner's Guide, the Photo Eye switch uses key #2395. That same key also works the light, 1/2 speed fan, light/fan, door hold, hospital service, and independent service switches.
most of the time if you look right above the elevator, you'll see a fire alarm smoke detector. It most likely has a connected relay that can automatically stop the elevator when the detector is activated. The fire alarm control panel can also stop the elevator when needed.
Be careful the door protection is disabled on fire service. You could hurt yourself or someone else if they attempt to put their arm etc in the path of the door while closing. Also the noise on going to the top means the car hydraulic fluid is low.
Also, the elevator only responds to a change in the key position with the doors completely open, so that's why it didn't return when you turned the key off.
Ok. At the hospital where I have filmed many elevators, the maintenance guy said that enabling fire service will set off the fire alarms. A person in the condo complex said the same. Is this true??
@thyssenelevator95 It depends on how fire service is tripped. If you use the key switch, it should not trip the alarm. If fire service was to be activated from a smoke detector, then it should indeed trip the alarm.
The key for the photo eye should be either H2395 or H1846.

Is it correct that the H2395 key operates the light/fan switches, independent service, and run/stop switches?
elevatorgeek1234 1 year ago
@elevatorgeek1234 It is. There are other keys too like the H1848 for lock switches & the H2389 for fire service mode (too name a few).

It depends - I tried the same thing on a new TK elevator, and TK's office called the elevator's phone because they have remote monitoring.
