  • Adam Oates, one of my favorites

  • wht the song called at the beginning

  • @randomguyh8y Sabre Dance.

  • i got goosebumps

  • in four games? oh, I get it; Joe Thornton was still a Bruin.

  • 5:28 funny the annoucer gets caught up in words as the play happens so fast, that's a very cool call..... !

  • Wow...What a hockey play! Even if I'm not a Sabres fan, I get emotional every time I watch this. This is why we love hockey! What a pass by Lafontaine and a crazy move by May over BOURQUE!! And of course that crazy commentator at the end, perfect hockey moment!

  • I like at 7:04 when May makes the move around Bourque. You can see the bench sitting and watching and as soon as he made the move, they all stand up in unison like they were sitting on whoopee cushions.

  • best assist in NFL history Lafontaine.

  • @invadr1 NFL? its NHL

  • @millertime2010sabres it's called a typo you douche bag

  • @invadr1 First off, i am not a douche bag, and second, i was correcting a simple mistake, no need to insult me.

  • @invadr1 no, the F is nowhere near the H. You fucked up.

  • @invadr1 Wow, commenting on my channel and calling me a douche bag because you're a retard, that's very nice of you.

  • I remember that game...good hockey then..now its all garbage!

  • When they excavated the Aud site the found Bourque's jock strap.

  • @L4RiVi3R3 Me too...Harry has his moments tho! :P

  • this video makes me miss jim lorentz

  • forgot Neely's goal

  • Is it true the ice surface was smaller in the Auditorium?

  • What a great come back! I will never forget that game. Tremendous game by Brad May. I cannot believe he is jobless now. A great player with a big big heart!!!

  • I forgot what a great pass Pat LaFontaine made....laying down ON THE ICE!

  • May Day is probably one of the greatest calls in hockey history...RJ is a legend

  • I'll never forget watching this game with my dad at 8 years old, then less then a year later meeting him at the Aud Sabres Open House... I said to Brad May great goal against the bruins goalie and then getting his autograph. Anyone remember how awesome it was at The Aud's Sabres Open House?

  • this call still gives me chills

  • @thinkingjack , I'm not even a Sabres fan, but hearing this call brings tears to my eyes. I wish hockey was still like this, now (since the lock out in 2004)it seems like the refs are too involved and ultimately deciding many games instead of the teams and far too many penalties are called, just let them play.

  • @stubs96 i know exactly what your saying. But sadly with gary bettman is in charge hockey is becoming worse every year. Its a shame that he's ruined such a great game.

  • @sportsmania21 Hockey is NOT ruined because of Bettman; don't you still watch it anymore? Plenty of great, young players in the game today, but because everyone thinks Bettman "ruined" hockey, that's all you care about, is it?

  • @stubs96 Yeah, & then the refs will "let them play" then people will get upset again & say the refs aren't calling any penalties, which way do you want? "Call penalties" or "let 'em play"?

  • @ckendall67 I would never complain the refs aren't calling any penalties, personally I've never heard too many do that, some may complain one team is getting more penalties called than another. If you're asking me which way do I want it's a very definite "let 'em play", I think all games should be won by the team with no assistance from officials.

  • @stubs96 You say there are too many penalties called, but as soon as someone on your gets hooked or tripped, you'll shout "CALL THE PENALTY", won't you now? You only want penalties called against the other team, plain & simple.

  • @ckendall67 what makes you think "I only want penalties called against the other team" why would I want that, how would that be fair? would you really want your team to win because the official called more penalties against the other team? I HOPE you'd want your team to play well and win on their own without assistance from poor officiating, remember Wally Harris, he was the best ref and very consistant, at the end of a game if you can't remember the refs name, then you know he did well.

  • i will never remember brad may for this goal...but wen he slashed steve heinz in the face on purpose

  • Moog's stats from the 92-93 regular season are absurd: 37-14-3, 3.16 GAA, .876 save percentage. That's a testament to how good the Bruins offense was for Moog to have a save percentage that shitty and still be 23 games over .500.

  • i remember this as it was yesterday. i actually cried after this goal. bruins had a great season only to choke in the playoffs. typical bruins playoff choke job. well the pats, celts and red sox came thru for me years later thank god.lol.

oh and another thing. this was a great era for hockey. the league was just so much more exciting back then.

  • I was at this game. I was 13 and loved every minute of it.

  • Great Pass, Great Moves, Great Goal, Great Commentators :O

  • what is up with all this shitty quality.....

  • MAY DAY MAY DAY MAAAAY DAAAAYY

  • Wow... Brad May did that to Ray Bourque?

  • unfortunately

  • @CanucksfanKyle Yeah, he was drafted 14th overall in 1990 and showed he could score in juniors but became more of the fighter we know now as a pro. Still had some of that offensive talent though and he embarrassed Bourque with that move.

  • CanucksfanKyle unfortunately

  • Man those were the days...Howerchuck, Hasek, Poulin, Oates, Pat La fontaine and Alexander Mogilny, man was he good and man were they a good duo! And holy crap what a great goal by Brad May

  • Adam Oates was under rated by far.

  • @zer014 I'm a sabres fan and know exactly what you mean.

  • not in st louis, everybody loved him and brett hull :D

  • @zer014

    totally agree!!!!

  • God I still get chills watching this. To be honest, one of my first memories. I was 5 years old and had no clue why my dad was cheering at the TV. Lafontaine was unreal.

  • i was like 10 and remember going nuts in my living room when he scored... it was late and nite and woke my mom, she was pissed haha

  • Boy, did Ray Borque get owned or what?

  • wheres all the goals?

  • one of the top 3 goal horns in the nhl

  • MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! RJ Rules Baby!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I grew up with the Sabres, and I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when this happened, and how excited I was, Although the Sabres are strugglers, and no Cups yet, I have faith. And I will always love 'em.

  • Great game. Boston deserved to get sweeped after blowing such a big lead.

  • GOD DAMN. Brad May schooled Ray f'n Borque. :C

  • what does may day mean??

  • May Day is the first of day of may.

Brad May scored so RJ figured May Day would be a good goal call.

  • "Mayday!" is also used when combat planes are in peril...they use mayday as a call for help. The fact that RJ said it over and over sounds like a reference to that.

  • Yeah, that's the point.

  • @nyqs81

Also a distress call: Mayday can mean trouble.

But yeah... May scored... gotta say something!

  • May Day is also a distress call used by ships and planes.

  • thanks genious....

  • Comment removed

  • @SumProIAm it means that you're an idiot

  • @SumProIAm his name is brad may so they said mayday

  • @SumProIAm I think it's just a play on his name, but May-Day used to be a pretty big occasion in the Soviet Union. It does have the added effect of being the phrase used by pilots when their plane is in distress. To this day, there haven't been many OT goals scored in the playoffs (especially a nice goal) by someone less suspecting than Brad May. Deffinitely a top 10 goal call in hockey - or even all of sports. So exciting. I'd put it up there with Dan Kelly's call on Lemieux's winner in 87.

  • good god---Pat LaFontaine, Richard Smehlik, Brad May, Alexander Mogilny, Dale Hawerchuck, Dominik Hasek----besides 06 i think 93 was your best year Buffalo.....

  • Idk man it takes grit dd to win a cup and we are starting to build that now. I feel one more stay at home guy and we could go along way.

  • Looks like your Sabres are coming on strong again and pushing for the playoffs this year. I love the young talent on Buffalo. Good luck to you guys. Here's hoping for a Vancouver - Buffalo Stanley Cup Final!

  • That would be one amazing series:)

  • Yea! They're expansion cousins after all! :D

  • goodness ...one handed deke!!!

was that may or was that molginy , classic

  • With the economy the way it is in Buffalo, with the depression, with the lack of faith, Buffalo needs this again. Not necessarily the Mogilny, LaFontaine, Hasek, May group, but a team that us Buffalo fans can believe in and get excited about again.

    GO SABRES

  • i totally understand u.....im a flyers fan and ive been through many games agasint u sabres in the past where im on the edge of my seat.....but the days of really cohesive buffalo teams are behind u.....your best chance was in 06 ion my opinion, i really thought u were gonna win the cup...tough break against canes....gonna be a while in buffalo

  • Yeah well you Flyer fans are gonna wait just as long... and by the way, your name is very appropriate for a Philly fan.

  • May's Goal = Classic

Gurtler's ability to react to a goal normally (specifically the game tying goal) = about as good as Andy Moog was in this game.

  • MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY!!!!!!!!

i'm gonna miss him on the Ducks..

  • MAY DAY, MAY DAY, MAY DAY.

    Rick Jeanneret is the man.

    Mogilny > All

  • Another week and it would have really been May Day... May scored his famous goal on April 24th!

  • an april day for may

  • I never liked Moog...he really shit the bed for us that series

  • Why the hell did they not replace Ted Darling with RJ after his forced retirement. Gurtler is fuckin' awful. Isn't he in criminal trouble?

  • ya his son went to my school..,.they had a party after prom and it got busted by the cops lmao..

  • That team was fucking loaded. It seemed like they could score goals at will (and did). LaFontaine, Mogilny, Hawerchuk, and the whole bunch.

  • And with Hasek in net? Where is the Cup? In the next series Buffalo was swept by Montreal... Sabres still should have won it against Dallas--bullshit call on Hull's goal.

  • Swept in 4 games by all 4-3 scores, including 3 overtime games I believe. They could score 'em at will, but that 1992-93 team could give them up easily too.

  • Haha "Was that Mogilny or was it May?" - Sweet goal for a guy who made his name knockin people out.

  • One of the best goal commentaries ever.

  • And that's one of the many reasons why Mr. LaFontaine his hanging from the rafters!

  • What an amazing pass by Lafontaine..Unreal pass

  • Still makes me gringe. By far my worst memory as a Bruins fan

  • Just like I cringe thinking about Brad Park.....

  • This could be one of the top 10 plays/goals of all time. From start to finish, what a damn play. I remember watching this as a kid and seeing May kiss his stick a few minutes before...simply awesome.

  • I know this is called the "May Day" game, but you could also argue that this game could be called "A Star Is Born," since it showed the world what Dominik Hasek can do.

  • oh yea, this is on my myspace now!

  • you hate the slug too kool79?

  • I HATE the Sabres now, but was a BIG fan back then! Ahhh May Day....

  • Traitor

  • Je suis jaloux Pierre et Yvon sont épouventables. vive Ricky!

  • I wish you could get the part where RJ says "Can you spell second round?"

  • The Greatest Call in Hockey History

    CBC

    TSN

    NHL Network

  • May Day!

  • I live in Southern California now and I have to tell the Ducks fans how this is the goal of my childhood.

  • man that was my first sabres playoff game i will never forget that game i still have that ticket

  • MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY

BRAD MAY WINS IT IN OVER TIME.

    Best call by Rick

  • Maybe the fact that Brad MAY scored the OT goal prompting RJ to say "May Day!"

  • may made moog shit his pants wow well boston got a taste of their own medicine

  • lindy ruff without a doubt

  • Lindy definitely.

  • john gurtler, the absolute worst announcer in hockey history

  • Question: Who would you rather have as your coach Ted Nolan or Lindy Ruff?

  • lindy

  • lindy ruff

  • ruff

  • lindy ruff hands down!!!

  • Ruff hands down

  • you forgot the first goal! it was Cam Neely on the PP.

  • that last play, awesome.

  • WOW THAT SENDS CHILLS UP MY SPINE

  • Jeanneret is the best play by play announcer in the NHL, barnone.

  • without question.

  • when he shouts "MAY DAY, MAY DAY, MAY DAY" that gives me fuckin chills man

    good times

    GO SABRES!!!!!!!!

  • it's funny how hasek backed up belfour in chicago and fuhr in buffalo and ended up winning like 6 vezina trophies and 2 hart trophies.

  • True wbcanuck but fuhr and belfour were awesome goalies too.

  • That gives me the chills.

  • that was so dirty... that goal probably felt amazing... in OT huge undressage on bourque. then walks around the goalie and shoots it in empty side... i dont kno what goal would feel better then that, most goals are either a beauty that means nothin, or just a big OT garbage goal. this was an overtime beauty. MAY DAY BRAD MAY

  • This was the first Sabres game I've ever been to at the old Aud. May's goal was the greatest.

  • lalalalala-lafontaine

  • Love that call....one of the greatest in the history of the nhl!

  • Actually, This isn't Ted Darling, Darling Retired afyter the 91-92 season after worsening alzhimers disease, this is john gurdler and jim lorentz on the old empire sports network

  • According to Wikipedia, Ted Darling died of Pick's disease, not Alzheimer's.

  • ya dude there are alotta "internet tough guys"

    but w/e lets go buffalo

  • 2 bad rick was not calling the game

  • who is that guy? Is it Ted Darling? At least they have RJ doing the call at the end.

  • yup, ted was the play by play for TV for a long time for the sabres. he does a great job too, but RJ is the best of all time!

  • Congratulations to Brad May on his Stanley Cup vicotry!

  • classic goal by May.

  • Yes and those were the good ole days...why we couldnt reenact goals like this vs. the Senators is annoying

  • check out my sabres video

search Buffalo Sabres 05-06 and 06-07

  • I don't know what you did, but it works now. It wouldn't load for me before. Thanks.

  • Does anyone else have a problem loading this? If so, please fix it because this is one of my favorite clips. Thanks.

  • Sorry man I don't know what the issue is.

  • i hope rj never dies.

    then what happens?

    rob ray becomes the announcer?

    lmao.

  • Whenever RJ hangs it up, those are going to be some awfully big shoes to fill. (Dennis Farina comes to mind when Jerry Orbach quit Law and Order.)

  • This is one my favourite NHL overtime goals.

  • best play-by-play line ever?!? go yellow and blue!

  • I thought sabres were going to the cup this year lafontaine mogily hawerchuk and fuhr in net. Mogilny and lafontaine both got injured in game 2 against the canadiens and then they had no chance of winning that series if that didnt happen they would of beat monteal then islanders for sure and also the kings. That yeah should of been buffalo's cup

  • God, John Gurtlers play by play is horrible, I almost forgot how horrendous he was! Almost as bad as the new "BuffaSlug" uni's. Long live the "real" Sabres emblem and Rick Jeanneret!

  • What was this 1993? I was 7 yrs old at the time but it sure is an experience looking back at some of this stuff and why winning the cup this year is going to matter so much to all of us. Go Sabres!

  • I LOVE SABRES

  • some people are just retarded, first the idiot thats saying the only reason the sabres win because the opponents start their backups? your a jackass... maybe its the balance of talent and chemistry on the team...just maybe and second of all, i get it if your a bruins fan, but throwing past cups in our face to compensate for you guys sucking now??? low dude

  • What is the name of the commentator who screams Mayday,Mayday,Mayday?

  • It's Rick Jeanneret "Lalalalalafontaine!"

  • rick jeanneret

  • I have RJ's Mayday call as the ringtone on my cellphone. Turns heads most of the time.

  • Can't be all that lucky. 8 players are out with injuries. Besides, they just make other teams starting goalies look like backups.

  • yeah cause im sure thats the way it works...

  • Buffalo is amazing, Your Just Pissed because Moog Sucks, and May is Sweet, You Boston Boner

  • bruins suck...SABRES OWN

  • I do belive the sabres have no stanley cups and the bruins have 4. Fuck the sabres i hope they burn in hell lets go boston

  • bruin are horrible. look whos on top now bitch...sabres

  • thats it, lets compensate for your shitty ass team now by throwing past victorys in our face, or why dont we just see where the regular season takes it?? and be sure to tell your team to bring their starters (dumbass)

  • I do believe the Bruins have 5 cups.

And cappucino makers in their locker room too.

  • cuz lemme tell u right now i am sooooooo jealous

  • you better be. Rangers all the way.

  • hey this isnt't saying much since the bruins only have 5 Stanley Cups but i was just wondering how many cups the Sabres have.. oh thats right they dont have any..

elburrodiablo your a retart and you don't know shit about hockey there is 25 games left and their only 10 points out of 4th place..

  • RETART?? I think your're the "RETART" asshole. Buffalo owns the Cup this year. Quit living in the past moron. It is today, Boston is a joke, as are the fans and the city!

  • i would like to see buffalo get the cup but we dont "own" anything... cmon man dont hop on the bandwagon even this far into the season there is still ALOT of hockey to be played

  • He kissed his stick before he scored the goal. That's what makes it so great. He hadn't scored in something like 18 games but still knew he could do it

  • Jim Lorentz is speaking with great clarity and foresight. He sounds a lot more knowledgable than he does now--what happened?

  • I'd kiss my stick too....he had not scored a goal in like 4 months plushe just scored a playoff OT winner

  • Some of the goals in this game are real softies indeed. Again, the best memory of an O.T. winner between these two teams *for me* was an Adam Oates goal straight from the face-off just the year before this.

BTW - the final shot with the kiss on the stick is just too cheezy.

  • Go choke on a dick

  • Just because you like to do that, Francisco, doesn't mean that anybody else here will...

    Get real. Get aids.
