How gorgeous! I'll be subscribing and hoping that you post many more videos for people like me who will only be there in the Summer. Please post many more videos, you are lucky to live there!
Wonderful video! I've never seen Mackinac Island in the winter. This is like being there. Thanks for posting on YouTube. It's on my Bucket List to spend a month on the Island in winter.............. someday..............
Sometimes I think that mackanic island is the last place on earth that is completely free from corporations, with the exception of star bucks but I like coffie so im not complaining their but its nice to go and not have to deal with alot of advertisments, it truely is like going back in time and I love it. I am looking foward to the Grand Hotel Titanic event. That will be something to see.
Thank you. We like Starbucks coffee too...especially because Starbucks permits their franchises to be family operated...they just have to follow their business model. So to us, it isn't really like the other kind of corporate America that doesn't work here. The Titanic event at the Grand sounds like fun!
Have a great time and thank you for commenting about the Island. We are very grateful.
Great video. I never would of thought about what Mackinac Island looks like in the winter but it looks really nice. Maybe a great place for two people in love that had a place to stay on the island.
A baby snow carraige? I would have never known if I had not of watched this video. I am from Texas.
I love Mackinac Island- I named my daughter after Jane Seymour's character in "Somewhere in Time" -- I really want to go back for a visit...maybe next spring or summer...and thereafter. It is quite a place..if anyone did not see the 80's move you must see it..RIP Christopher Reeve.
I was there last summer, God I miss it so much everytime I watch a video like this I am painfully reminded that I can't afford a longer stay there let alone a flight there.
My wife and I were there last June! We would play our Somewhere In Time cd when we were in our room! We played it during breakfast and just before going to sleep... with out balcony door open. And YES, you do wake up to the sound of the clip-clop of the horse's hooves outside! Totally awesome! Also renewed out vows at Ste. Anne's Catholic Church!
Beautiful video, thank you for sharing it! My husband and I visited your lovely island 4 years ago.We adored it.Stayed at the Grand Hotel and boy,was it fantastic! We'll get back there again some day.
They don't allow cars, but they do have a ambulance, firetruck, backhoe type constuction vehicle and im not sure but id assume a dump truck that can plow. But besides that no cars are there. Correct me if I am wrong about exactly how many cars there are besides the ambulance and fire truck.
police have one or two explorers (last i knew, 2001), edison sault electric has several vehicles, there are also several dumptruck/plow combinations the county operates to plow during winter. there are no privately owned vehicles there, but you correctly stated some of them. don't forget everybody has a snow machine for winter riding. i spent a winter on the rock doing construction 2000/01, murray hotel.
The state park has a truck with a plow but it is only used where necessary. We mostly snowmobile and snow if very welcome. So, when the state park plows they do not take the ground bare so we can xx ski or snowmobile to school and work. Thanks for asking.
Thanks for posting these winter scenes and allowing me the opportunity to get home again, if only in memory, at Christmas time. Words can't express just how much I miss the place.
Did you know there is a reunion weekend the last weekend of August? The Pink Pony, Chippewa and Lilac tree are hosting a big reunion and the hotels will be offering specials that weekend. It should be great, come on back.
