The rules were changed by the time sow aired because people were not ready for a $1,000,000 game show yet. And of course, this aired on CBS in some maakets.
One low end car is OK, maybe two, but when you win five or more like Mckee Hicks and Salisbury did on Tic Tac that gets weird. Bullseye did have one or two people win enough games for two cars, and three cars was the most won on TJW. PtP had a couple of car wins IIRC, but I don't think they were until the solo player format.
If they had left the bonus round alone, how long would the show lasted? When in 1979 was this taped? Cool show! I always wondered why Jay Stewart left B&E productions.
This reminds me of the Jokers and Devils Bonus game that occurred during the first 2 seasons of the Joker's Wild on CBS.

This was/is one of my all-time favorite game shows. Wish it would come back.

@CadillacL I agree. All of the Barry-Enright game shows was good, and what I like about it is if you won five shows you won a car on all of them.
