@olivkolivke Thank you for the note; however, this program offers a new level of convenience and a chance to reach those in which healthcare may not be readily available. Thanks! ~Gina

As I understand it, this system was initially designed only for Cisco employees. With thousands of staff in multiple buildings and locations, they decided to bring healthcare/wellness centers into their buildings. Staffing that with full time doctors in every building is much more difficult than a few doctors somewhere in the country virtually checking employees out. So if a Cisco employee has the sniffles, they can walk into the health center in their building and be checked out by a nurse/DR.
@stikitape214 because certain diseases need to be treated by doctors who are experienced in that area of medicine, and not every place has those doctors, especially with very rare diseases. this lets a doctor treat a patient from hundreds of miles away, where otherwise the patient would have to travel to get that specific care that is not available locally.
@stikitape214 yeah they just picked that example to demonstrate the technology. in reality it would be used for very complicated cases that would be too complicated to go through in a short 5 minute video like this.
He couldn't get up off his fat ass and see the patient in person? I'm sure that nurse would be getting paid the same amount of money to do more work. Its easier to develop relationships with patients by being in the room with them. Plus, your bill will probably be higher to pay for this new technology.
Imagine possibility of hundreds patient connecting directly to doctors or getting diagnosed or filling for prescription real-time over H.323 protocol in the privacy of their homes...
If you don't trust this kind of simple tech, I wonder how you feel when you'll have nano robots inside you patching up you heart or removing bad tissues in body, operated real time by a doctor trough video session like that...
@Metallicafan6611 this system is for letting doctors treat patients hundreds of miles away for certain diseases where there are no experts in the area. or to treat patients in rural areas where there are not enough doctors. obviously if he could see the patient in person, he would.
Doctors are going to be fat if they stay sitting all day in front of computer.. :p

Seems like a properly trained medical staff on site is a must though.

The most common problem - when you look someone in the eye they don't see that that way. :)
