This IS from the Nevermind sessions, and it IS Kurt Cobain, but it's NOT from the Smart sessions that "monkeyyattack1018" is referring to. This is what is referred to as a scratch vocal take. I believe there is a similar scratch take for Come As You Are in existence as well. A "scratch take" is just a quick vocal done to help the band get the timing of the song right, and to act as a rough draft so the producer knows how the final vocals will fit with the instrumental performances.

No, you do... It's taken from an alternate take around the time of the Nevermind recordings, not long after he'd blown his voice on Territorial Pissings. It's only supposed to be a vocal guide for timing/etc...and his voice is weak because he'd lost it days before.

If you know Kurt's voice at all, you'll agree it sounds very much like him. Listen to any song where he sings softer and compare.
