  • i hope most people know this ban was made to stop lolicon hentai O_Y

  • Okay so let's say I own the Volume 1 of Naruto which has the legendary harem jitsu, right? I'll be arrested for owning a shounen manga? This law... But anyway not all of this stuff include echhii some just have a few pics but come on..

  • is normal manga allowed in uk??

  • @assassin6486 yes it is, the only time there would be a problem is if there were scenes of sexual activity with characters who "appeared" to be under 18. Hentai stuff would most certainly fall foul of this.

  • @DarkAngel182 do u know what shop in uk sells manga?????

  • @assassin6486 fraid not, I'm not really into Manga/Anime

  • If this law has passed I have no idea how Manga Entertainment are getting away with releasing Dance In The Vampire Bund. The main character in that show looks like a little girl and is constantly getting her kit off.

  • WELL SCREW THOSE PEOPLE AND ANI AND NOT BLAH I GIVE UP

  • Dammit! NEO magazine might get banned because they have a 'fanservice' page D:

  • Anyway if there was hentai in an all aged anime channel they should warn the children that whats about to go on is not for there age. They should have diferent times for different anime genres

  • Use the internet

  • @OperationAnime262 there's an old saying "I disagree with what you say but I defend your right to say it". I may not like this material, but I don't think people should be thrown in jail for owning it. Its a cartoon at the end of the day.

  • @OperationAnime262 ok im sorry but WHY would your children be waching Hentai on televison?(and WEN was it ever on televison if not at 11 pm and you had to rent it) also wen did all hentai have little girls in it? or underage? most hentai has 20+ year old or late teens and in lots of country you would have to be 15 to be underage for sex (sex, not porn 18 for porn)

and last thing Hentai IS NOT LIKE anime thats like saying caillou must be pornoghrpahic just cuz thers sum western cartoon poon.

  • @OperationAnime262 well man, there are not just banning pedophile sex, they are going after violent and ecchi animes too , Violence and ecchi animes are some of my most favorite genres , If they bring down animes like deadman wonderland, Higurashi , or such seinen animes , God, I'll kill them >>

  • @djay00009 Violent animes should be banned full stop they are just way too gory to be show, they always depict genocide which is a crime.

  • @OperationAnime262 I'm sorry, but its just the fucking same as watching a gory film. WE CLAIM TO HAVE FREE WILL!? x'D OH.. HOW WE ARE WRONG.

  • @OperationAnime262 , oh go fuck yourself OperationAnime262, if you don't like it, TOUGH SHIT.

  • Welcome to England the biggest nanny state on the planet. I wanna move country! How can I live in another country?

  • @DumbPeopleActSmart Don't come to either Canada or the U.S.. As, we're both suffering from the same....Canadian Customs has a bad habit of punishing Anime fans for anything. Since they consider it all homosexual......Here in the U'S. a number of folks have been arrested and attempted prosecution for Hentai Pocession....Who damn world is lousedf up!

  • I only read the info box, but I watched the video and I find it really fascinating. I'm gonna forward this to my friends and have a good rant with them.

  • This was, like, in 2009, and I haven't seen any changes in the law concerning Japanese manga/anime, so I guess things are normal! ^^

  • @magicalkitten1 Nope, this law came into effect last year. However there have yet to be any prosecutions from it.

  • @DarkAngel182

    This is f*cking insane D:<

Have there been any actual cases of prosecution regarding the new law?

  • @magicalkitten1 not yet no, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

worthwhile checking out the anticensorship website melonfarmersDOTcoDOTuk they keep an eye on things like unfair laws

  • @DarkAngel182 i personally am a fan of anime, this may come off as slightly biased, in most cultural situations anime fans are used as scapegoats, either way i'm surprised the UK govt' did this, I do not see as much cause for concern as they're making it out to be, if it were actual people than yes, but they are not, as far as the explicit images are concerned they are drawings and aren't drawings a form of art, well i live in the U.S. and I'm just glad they haven't gone that far here,

  • @magicalkitten1 a ban was passed in 2011 July recently , a new tokyo ban , which is going to have bad consequences apparently

  • @djay00009

Balls. Is there a website where I can read more about it? :(

  • Wow. I want to whack the people here. :|

They need to stop fucking with us:\

Hentai? REALLY. People can find that on the internet geez -.-'

LOL So what even books I have on drawing manga can get me in jail for 3 years?

    BULLSHIT.

  • @SadisticEmoRockChick checkout some of the links in the crotchbar for more info!

  • I'm glad I live in Finland and I don't have to bear with UKs bullshit. :-)

  • Damn I knew the UK was a bunch of foolish liberals with cameras watching everything you do.But this is getting sick.

  • wth??? I'm not a fan of hentai...but they must think it's sick and wrong like real life adults getting to kids....but many things are f-ed up these days

  • @AnimeFanPan I think what may have caused this is the police had been finding a lot of this hentai stuff in the hands of known child abusers, so they think that the only people who view this stuff are abusers, so by making it illegal it gives them something else to go after them over.

Of course, they don't seem to realise the majority of people who view this stuff are just anime fans and they are criminalising an art form.

  • Well isn't this interesting news. However I doubt us in Scotland will be ever following this law, as the Ediburgh Anime convention has a Hentai section at night and we are certainly still got penty of explicit and sexual Anime material in the shops that sell anime.

  • @DarkConkerD77 I wouldn't be too sure of that, the scottish DPA is even more stringent than the law that covers the rest of the UK.

  • Tell your government, if they wanna ban anime pornography, then ban playboy and all other porn

it all depend on the viewer's state of mind.

  • @Echinda1 I think I will xD

    Our government is so retarded.

  • REAL People die of overdose on drugs, they die from speeding and they die from going nuts and killing each other.

Children die bacause of REAL paedophiles

REAL people are victims of REAL rape

No one ever died of an overdose of pornography. Especially CARTOONS

  • @AnimaniaxIII checkout my recent video about the great repeal bill the current government are proposing, we have a chance to get this and the dangerous pictures act, repealed or at least sensibly amended.

  • @DarkAngel182 Yeah I think to sensibly amend it is a good idea, I'm not a fan of hentai and it's come on television whilst my neices were watching tv it was wrong. But anime thats slightly explicit? There are already restrictions on it, its up to us beyond that lol

  • there are real pedos out there raping real children n making real children do real child porn, hentai is not real the anime children is not real......,so let me get this straight ppl that are in to fan service in anime or hentai get 3 years, while real pedos get a new identities n new homes n hidden away, (fuck you british government) n fuck your fuckin laws

  • Hm..Interesting that the UK government would do such a thing but also as I read up more on that government compared to mine here in the US it seems they're both equally corrupted but in different aspects. For example the UK "almost" allows drinking, smoking of in American terms children. You can purchase smokes at 16 and have a drink with your family at 16. In the US 18 is still concidered a child. But then again porn, hentai,Manga ect is plentiful in the US but not the UK. So theres ups and downs

  • So what about Scotland? Why's it so special?

  • @AmbivalenceChaotic I dont think its illegal in scotland yet (with the emphasis on the "yet")

  • How are they suppposed to enforce this law exactly?

Are they gonna storm my house and arrest me for the one anime DVD that I own?!

  • This sucks, I've liked anime for a long time, and not for the sexually contant. But I have see it in a number of animes, even some of my favorites. If this happens to me maybe I can say I don't watch it for that reasion , and hopeful the scene they locked me up for isn't that bad. So hopeful they let me of, but I hope that doesn't ever happen.

  • the canadians have already done this haven't they?

  • @PS3NutHead I honestly don't know, I will have to look into this.

  • i think the sad fact is that censorship of any kind is not going to change seeing as theresa may end up keeping all censorship laws depends on if the liberal deocrats fight to change this which i dont think will happen sad that where still stuck in the dark ages.

  • Stuff like this makes me hate being from the UK. Silly moralistic country. I find mutilating people on games utterly satisfying but I wouldn't dare go outside and actually lop someone's head off. - It's just irritating to think someone actually believes making stuff like this illegal is such an importance considering no one is and never will be harmed from it.

  • @Flam3o Well, as you probably know, we've just had a general election here and labour have been voted out. Provided the conservatives can sort out this buisiness of not having a clear enough majority, they have promised to abolish certain laws once they get in (the lib dems promised somethign similar) so perhaps with a bit of pressure they can be persuaded to strike this one off or at least amend it,

    Heres to hoping.

  • @Flam3o I couldn't agree more.

  • Is that law going to be passed in America? If so This is suppose to be a free country. It will be illegal for people to watch pokemon and yugioh. Thats bullshit

  • @nate31st

I'm not sure, there is a law about sexually explicit cartoons in the US which has yet to have a proper legal challenge, however there is no way they would ban pokemen or any other kids cartoon, the current laws only apply to sexually explicit cartoons/depicitions.

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion doujin.....oh bugger, I'm seem to be a potential threat to all fictional characters everywhere when reading it within the UK

  • I live in the US, so i'm not affected by this... but I feel bad and sorry to all fans of japan in the UK who have to face this bullshit law!!! There's really no need for this!!! Unless, it's just porn they're concerned about, that should be all that should be banned. Nothing else... Really... BS!!!

  • I'm sort of at a loss here.

I'm a fan of japanese visual novels. Im pretty much damned.

  • @EvaPilot1 They gotta catch you first!

  • I has a sad now.

  • BLOW THEM ALL UP

  • @adrastea99

Careful, statements like that in this day and age could get you arressted and charged wih terrorism!

  • The real question is: why is the UK government able to arbitrarily grant itself power?

Why are there no checks on the power of Parliament to pass laws that infringe on the Natural Rights of real people?

And who chartered the UK Parliament to begin with? It sure wasn't The People, or you'd have a written Constitution...

  • YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS PRIME MINISTER

l WILL DESTROY YOU WITH MY ANTI MATTER GANNON CANNON

  • Being a fan of anime and manga this is concerning me greatly. To the Government it seems as though they believe that all anime and manga fans are pedophiles waiting to happen. Are they not going to bother doing any background research into certain characters or even give us an idea of what classes as a 'disgusting' image?

If they're not then they're just causing more and more problems for themselves.

  • Being a fan of anime and manga this is concerning me greatly. To the Government it seems as though they believe that all anime and manga fans are pedophiles waiting to happen. Are they not going to bother doing any background research into certain characters or even give us an idea of what classes as a 'disgusting' image?

  • @MiuTinichi

Nope, and this law has now come into effect. So if the image is sexually explicit and the person looks like theyre under 18, you're looking at anything from a fine to imprisonment,

  • If it's anime on dvd passed by the BBFC I should be ok right? None of it is child porn any way. It's ok to go to war with a poor country and rape their children, but not alright to watch anime... What a fair Government we have lol.

  • @HateCoD

If its been passed by the BBFC then you should be fine.

Good points about some of the hypocritical things this govt does, clearly they have no sense of irony.

Still, there's an election next month. Perhaps its time for a change?

  • @DarkAngel182 I'm old enough to vote, but it's difficult to know who I want my vote for. There's no young people in politics :-(

  • @HateCoD Well if you want my advice, vote for anyone apart from the current lot. I think Briatin needs a change.

  • it's going to be made law on april 6th, briliant, now i have to throw away my hentai, they were really expencive.

  • They've got to catch you first!

  • haha sucks for you UK

  • Indeed it does, however, be aware that people on your side of the pond have been prosecuted for this stuff too!

  • really? well, thanks for the headsup.

  • @DarkAngel182

If your talking about the Handley case, he was jailed for owning actual CP, his hentai stuff had no bearing on his case.

    Also he plead guilty.

  • If the UK Government haven't got enough things to do than to make stupid laws for things that are just Make Believe, they'd do better to spend their time in exposing something that's very REAL, like coming clean about Hollie Greig instead of trying so hard to "Gag" the UK media from reporting such child abuse corruption(see The Hollie Greig Scandal),...and while their at it, also applying more effort into finding ways or laws to stop Catholic Paedo Priests escaping justice!

  • Next the UK Government want to ban our imagination lol it's stupid man

  • You know, I think this law also has quite a discriminating aspect.

The mere possession of those obsene manga where children are raped is illegal, but playing video games in which you comit mass murder is perfectly fine.

This is very contradictory in my point of view, since both are severe crimes and in both cases, you the scenario is completely imaginary without victims.

I do hope that whichever country has a law like this does get it of it asap.

  • DO U KNOW THE CURRENT LAW FOR THE USA

  • Fraid not!

  • is anyone still fighting this, because everywhere i look it seem's like people have given up now that it has become law. i would like to know if the fight is still going on, because i do not approve of people being criminalised just for pictures.

  • I'm, not certain to be honest, it received little debate in parliament and went through virtually unchallenged.

However, its not actually become law yet. It's received Royal acent, but the home office have not yet enacted it.

Who knows, if we can hang on a couple of months till the next election, maybe there'll be a change of government and it will be quietly forgotten about.

  • @DarkAngel182 mabey, i know backlash-uk does fight the extreme image's part because it harm's freedom of expretion, but i can't beleve it went almost unchalenged, i mostly hate this for selfish reason's, because i do own some hentai manga that i got at an exabition, but i didn't know what was in it untill i removed the plastic rapping, now if this law goes ahed, i'm a criminal, and speeking as a person who watches hentai, it's hard not to find 1 that's dosn't have someone about 16 years old

  • The problem is the govt keep tacking these laws onto much larger pieces of legislation that they say they want in force by a certain date, so they dont have time to debate all aspects.

  • I've seen Battle Vixens witch has a lot of nudity but they are all mature girls so I can't see the problem

  • I think this is a good idea that bans depictions of underage characters shown sexually. I think what qualifies as appearing underage is any that have females that do not have features of having went through puberty, breasts and widened hips. Anything that is underage is obviously appealing to paedophiles and should be discouraged. I hate lolicoms.

  • Well you're entitled to your opinions, but this is based on the assumption that people who possess these images must be paedophiles. This legislation is liable to catch out all manner of material that it was not intended to. Also, the legal definition of a child is a person under 18, so even images you suggest of a post-pubescent teen would still be prosecutable IF the authorities thought they looked under 18, which comes back to my original argument.

  • this is not about an insignificant subject as banning/criminalise anime, this its about taking freedom away from the people, this law its ridiculous, all the persons that own a dvd or pc have seen at least once, hentai or violent anime and they're not fucking tring to rape a girl whit octopuss tentacles, so that means all those persons are criminasl that deserve jail for life, i cant believe this kind of shits can still hapen in this "MODERN TIMES", the fredoom of spech and choise its at stake.

  • The government's argument is that its a legal form of child pornography and they are simply "closing a loophole".

In reality its about criminalising bad taste.

What concerns me is whats next? We already have the Dangerous Pictures Act, which makes it a crime to possess staged consensual images of acts which APPEAR violent or non-consensual (even though they're put on for the camera and thus legal to participate in).

We are bordering on a police state.

  • I agree. Taste-police/arbitrary 'does she or he look 18?' etcetc. This is the result of mindless, political zealotry, but also it is police driven. What these politicians really don't get, yet, is that the police consider anyone not in a uniform as 'suspect', look what happened to D Green. They have absolutely no regard for the general public whatsoever-everyone is potentially a criminal... Unfortunately, this government is persuaded too easily by police lobbying. Police state? Yes.

  • Proposed amendments to the Copyright, Design and Patents Act would allow the Secretary of State to alter the law without approval by Parliament.Peter Mandelson, the unelected Business Secretary, would have to power to make up as many new penalties and enforcement systems as he likes.

  • Say goodbye anime, manga, hentai, comic book fans and artists. The law regarding dangerous drawings is in (and other libellicious and criminalizing laws). Careful what you do on the net now. Otherwise you be looking at 3 years and the SoR. This country has fallen into the clutches of moral advocates and pro censors and with this latest news it is a precedent that the snowball from the DPA has just got bigger. Thanks CommuNuLabour for creating more random crininals to waste our taxes for.

  • young charater is CALLED CHIBI man there is something wrong w/them!

  • i still don't understand y the government is doing this, it's stupid

  • because they are trying to apply english standards to foreign cultures works of art,

They don't recognise this stuff as a legitimate art form and think the only people who view this are people with "unnatural tendencies" towards youngsters.

  • @Lafterdeath Because anime and manga have way too much sexual references in it. I dont agree but the japanese need to be a bit more subtle and not drool over their drawings of six year old girls.

  • "aneem" is not the correct pronounciation. It is "Aneemay". Sorry to be a pedantic jerk about it.

  • That;s OK, you are not the first person to have pointed out this error!

Not being a fan of this stuff myself.

  • all i can say is...LOLS i bet almost every pc owner has a naked picture of simpsons charcters on their hard drive.

    or has seen it even..

they gonne put the whole world in jail now =D ?

  • I don't quite understand, is 'Urotsukidoji' the type of thing they're looking to outlaw, high school students being raped by demons?

  • Not sure, would have to see it to comment!

  • Well high school students are under 18, don't know about in Japan tho but yeah, I think 'Urotsukidoji' will be a target. Does this mean I will have to throw away my anime dvd collection just so I wont go to jail and doesn't making up new laws cost a lot of money aswell??

  • *Youtube should really add a forum for videos lol* I think it's similar to the US. High School being 14/15-17/18. College for UK. Also thus adding such a law makes thousands of people criminals. It makes me think whether people of UK have become Thin-Skinned Ignorants. Or that those ignorants got into power *coughs* Liz Longhurst*. And yes it costs lots for new laws and for using them. Imagine the amount of court cases for 'offensive drawings' with taxpayers cash.

  • I think this quote suits the UK quite well currently.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience" ~ C.S. Lewis

  • AnimeMusic99 don't fold under such facist and oppressive laws. If you fold it means these Moral Ignorants were right (Japan folded to 1 Femnazi demand, now their other media's under more fire). They are throwing the Strawman Arguement around, opinions over solid evidence. Distorting something and exaggerating it creating a problem where there is none. Also if media was a cause then we would have shown criminals 'Teletubbies' to change their life around.

  • They should add a forum yes lol, the government are taking away our freedom from under our noses and I feel insulted because they're basically calling me a pedophile... It's stupid, it's like arrest my mother because she has photos of me when I was a baby in the bath tub.

  • Thought Urotsukidoji was centred around university students and by implication all chars would be over 18 though to be honest they don't tend to "look" it. Thing is,

people don't magically look 18 just because they are- either in animations or real life.

  • internet is fucked up mate.. ill watch this in a day or 2-3.. fucking smallband atm -.- i crossed my streaming limit.

  • Shit man I own 'Urotsukidoji' on dvd, well I'm off to jail now cya lol, god I hate our government, they need to grow up!!

  • Rofl this law is just not right!

  • So has there been any cases here of people getting convicted yet? This law

sounds rather too absurd to realistically

enforce. I mean, we read all about child protection people looking at porny pics

of young children too long. So what happens if the enforcers are the real "criminals"?

  • This law has been held up in the lords as parliament is now in summer recess, so this wont get passed until Autmn now!

  • why has my comment been marked as spam, i'm not spamming, i'm telling people how it is, i swear the person who voted me as spam is working for the government.

  • doubt that they can get arrested for own simpsons porn that are drawn as adults, I mean, the episode was invented in like 1989, that's 20 years ago, bart was 10 then and lisa was 8 and maggie was 1, the show is still running and homer admitted putting anti-growth hormone in lisa's cereal.... LOL, now, bart would be like 30, lisa would be 28 and maggie 21......LOL

  • hentai movies like, little monica, buko no pico, mezzo forte, shoyonoido makocchan, sex friend and A forbidden time and viewing simpson, family guy, ben 10...etc images that is sexually explicit, would be made illegal to view, buy or download, dispite all theses films and drawed images doesn't involve abusing any children, it's just another way to take our freedom of expression away, it's a fact and I believe a violation to the European human rights law.

  • I agree, but we can't protest, can we??, oh yeah, i can see that, a bunch of people marching to no.10 downing street with a bill board sign "DON'T TAKE OUR LOLICON PORN!".......HAHAHAHHAHAHHAH!...... LOL!!!!!!!

  • Unlike the US we don't have an group such as the ACLU which deals with things like this. If we did anyway, I guarantee it would be shut down in no time by the censor mad fanatics under groundless accusation such as the DPA. Just to make it clear; it's not just loli material they're specifically after. That's just a front. As mentioned by commenters and video, they are just targeting anything that 'they' believe LOOK under 18 or 'offensive'. Even if stated characters are older by author/artist.

  • So I take it Infantilism is one on the list ....lmao!

  • Yeah pretty much lol. The fact they want to even apply human characteristics to mythological creatures such as vampires, demons, angels anthropomorphic humanoids etc... how on earth can you even apply human aging to them? haha. Also Asians look much younger than their age compared to other ethnicities. I've met 33 year olds that look like 18. While 18 year olds look like 14. Alot of Asians I've met feels flattered when I guess their age, coz it's always lower than it is XD

  • @Vyse918 xD You get me :') Like take Death Note for example yeah, Misa is like what 18 - 25 and the way she dresses... x') I bet if they saw her they would think she looked 16 or something "/ Then go on about how wrong it is blah, blah, blah -.-'

  • Comment removed

  • why the UK Government is planning to outlaw mere possesion of cartoon images that appear sexually explicit IF the persons in them APPEAR to be under 18. How do you tell the age of a cartoon character?

  • usually by the breast size and penis size, hentai can appear as midgets having fun, if they look like lolicon with large breast, you got yourself a midget hentai female, if you got a shota with a extremely large penis, you got yourself a midget hentai male, that's how it's gonna work, it's stupid I know, if it's flat chested and the persons appearance is like 4ft high and looks like a girl, that sort of thing would get you arrested by the new law, same goes for the male, with the penis thing.

  • Dear markhorneyuk ,

that sort of thing would get you arrested by the new law

Because the government is protecting the children and youth because Japaneses cartoon is very dangerous because it make the children and youth stupid?

    Best regards,

    System1restored

  • I don't agree with this new law, who to say, once it's enforeced, who can say that can't ban any other porn, I mean, violent porn is made illegal now in the UK, in a way, think that pretty much goes for gorish hentai, personally, I think they are just trying to take our civil libertys away, maybe trying to turn us into brain dead robots, don't worry, i'm not conspiracy nut, but I don't mind hearing both sides of a story. :P

  • UK is climbing up the Communist ladder. 1984 made real looking at all the new legislations the MP's wants to add. When random people are enforcing bias views on society, something's up. With bad economy people have nothing to do and rely on blame. Whatever goes wrong something has to be a scapegoat. It just so happens these 5 years it's Porn. Violent games before. Was expected (to the educated and logical) with DPA added, other material would be targeted even with consent or no harm involved.

  • Strong Japanese accent: HA! HA!, YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT THE TENTACLES OF MY GREAT FEMALE SEDUCTIVE MONSTERS, YOUR ARMY OF PENIS HEADS IS INFERIOR... HAR HAR HAR HAR!

  • LOL!!!!, yep, that is the sort of crap they would come out with in a japaneses anime movie.

  • It has been hell for anime since 2009 started.Lolicon, eroge, and many anime in general have been in the politicial view lately.Japan just yesterday rejected a ban on lolicon. And eroge has yet to be dealt with.

As an anime fan,I am against these actions since the supporters of the ban just have self-righteous reasons and moralistic reasons for banning eroge or lolicon.Japan is one of the safest places and they are blaming anime and Japan for things they never did.Stop the bans now!

  • The problem with the UK government, they are trying to apply british standards to foreign works of art.

To quote Bertram Russel, "Obsceity is whatever happens to shock some elderly and ignorant magistrate".

They seem to think that if we have access to something they don't like, they can scare us into behaving the way they want by threatening us with jail.

All they'll do is make overnight criminalse of a few luckless folk whilst the real criminals carry on regardless.

  • The UK government can not continue passing pointless laws which would do nothing to stop actual crimes. And applying their standards to Japan or other countries is just wrong.Japan is one of the most liberal and perverted countries in the world. They have had pornography for hundreds of years.Edo had woodblock prints of women getting raped by tentacles.Homosexuals were seen as the purest form of love for a time. They are gonna destroy a part of Japanese history and culture.Someone must stop this.

  • You need to tell this to the home office

  • Even if I went to the UK or sent the office an email.Would one guys opinion change their mind? Not likely unless an entire country protests these actions.People in Japan don't like the legislation against Lolicon and eroge but no one has stood up to it yet.Someone would need millions of people to protest this if they want to stop the bans happening to anime from across the world.Anime is around a 6 billion dollar industry and if some get banned, the rest can be banned too.Unite!Oppose these bans!

  • Your probably right!

  • ops. i just added to much lolis and shotas in my manga.

  • shhhh lol

  • IF the characters in it appear to be under 18 then yes.

  • ok I'll avoid that then, lol!

  • so would they arrest the people who created the anime pornography, with characters under 18?

  • This country is goin down the pan. With stuped laws that we dont need. And a goverment thats more bent than G Norton. Thanks for the info

  • Also checkout their new "Dangerous pictures act" which came into effect earlier this year, which means you can now be jailed and listed as a sex offender for owning pics that are actually legal to participate in.

Someone in the House of Lords also tried to introduce a "dangerous writings" act, which would outlaw sexually violent literature, but it failed.

It seems now that people dont agree material can "deprave and corrupt", theyre changing the definition of what "obscene" constitutes.

  • Got some more unsettling news of draconian enforcement. Baroness O'Cathain (A very conservative, against homosexuals adopting, Catholic raised) Tory Lord has proposed 'Dangerous Text'. She even proposed that they remove a clause that protects people from persecution from materials approved by the BBFC.

There's a reason why religion should not be invloved with politics. This is one of them. I thought we were suppose to move from the Theocratic society. Though these events prove otherwise :P

  • Do you have a link to this news story? I heard someone on the Melonfarmers website say somethign about this, however I thought he was winding us up!

  • Unfortunately that's where I got it too, a friend sent me an update on Melonfarmers about it. But if you look at the proposed amendments in the link of the article. It shows that O'Cathain has made the proposition.

I mean seriously this really, and I mean really now makes the saying 'Give them and inch, they take a Mile' to the max if this were to go through.

  • bloody UK government. I really hope they dont banned Anime or Manga with adult content, those are mostly the most interesting ones to watch.

Is this still going on? are they actually thinking on Banning it? I was watching Hentai last nite, shit!

  • Yes this one looks like it has passed through the House of Lords, so its presumably a matter of time now before anime and manga fans are being carted off to the gulags and being branded paedophiles just for owning a few mucky cartoons.

  • i will over turn the government if they do this! huuur! i swear i really will lol i will die if i get no anime =/

  • I am wondering why UK is so behind times? UK government plans to control which one is good or bad? So even if a little boys/girls want to read or watch Miyazaki`s film, they can`t? Ohhh what a terrible country! UK must be too boring country.

  • The problem is our elected peers live very sheltered lives, are not media literate, and disagree with people being able to look at any material they consider "unsuitable"

  • Is this still true as I own many horror movies from other countries especailly italy and loads of anime with a few... dodgy scenes?

  • I hope they will see what anime/manga are someday.

  • The problem is they are applying British standards to foreign works of art. Just because some dodgy men in raincoats view this stuff, they think that means anyone who views this must be of a similar persuasian.

Sooner this lot are booted out of office the better!

  • Same analogy can be used for every media. A killer gets caught, and police find tons of Simpsons DVD's and every GTA related material. Should they ban Simpsons and GTA? Does that mean everyone who watches or own such materials are future murderers? What if they find the killer eats alot of Cheerio's & McDonalds? Does that mean those who eat alot of that stuff are killers? No. Only the uneducated would believe so, or ignorant hypocritical uncultured moralists or religious fanatics.

  • All artists and collectors should speak out against this, as David Hockney and Neil Gaiman have. Artists and fans in so-called "free" countries should not have to worry about what drawings might get them into trouble with the authorities. I thought we were different from China, the Taliban or the Nazis? But like all moral crusades, they end up being taken over by dangerous fanatics.

  • The problem is, as with the DPA, this was tacked onto a much larger bill and has been forced through with little or no debate.

The House of Lords haven;t even bothered debating the cartoon section of the bill, so it seems they'll soon be carting the anime/manga fans off to the gulags!

  • Actually we're not that far from China in many aspects. Especially in the big brother state department. UK ranked 5th with Russia just in front and the US from behind as found on Melonfarmers.

Freedom of Speech and Expression never existed really in UK, unlike the US which has it as part of the constitution. So whenever you hear the news media and papers mention it in UK. Utter bull. Same with those useless MP's. Obscenity and distaste should never be used in a court of law to begin with.
