Could you put a 7.62x51 in a regular .308 m77 hawkeye and it will fire correctly. Im asking because i really think the 7.62x51 is alot cooler of a round and overall much better than a 7.62x39.
HA! so cool- If I am correct you shot this video at Ben Avery's north of Phoenix. I am just finishing setting up my SA M1A and hope to be out there soon to test her out.
I like the gun, Hate the muzzle brake. but the gun is heavy all by its self. I dont know if I would want to add any more weight to it with flash light, bipod, or extra grips hanging off it. I installed a Smith Interiorize flash supressor on mine. The CA. approved Muzzle brake that Springfield put on it, puts the flash and noise in front of my face and obscured my night vision and is a peace of S#*T
@FJCruiser29 Thats a GG&G BiPod- Which mine had just arrived today- If you get one for an SA M1A make sure you get the HD XDS which is about 30 more than the regular one.
It is a solid bipod and worth every penny. Botach has some good prices - no tax- free shipping.
I own one also and I've always been surprised that with all the kit out there for M14s including a million scope mounts that nobody has yet come up with some kind of short rail mount like that. Like maybe something that uses tension like a QD mount but sort of like a squeeze system like that with a QD lever that grabs those bases with that integral rail section on top. Larue should make it. I can dream can't I. lol
@taticalgunguy yeah mi laws are a mess. I just found out today my 16" barrel mossberg 500 I can't put a stock on it for skeet just to try skeet before I buy a gun specific to that purpose. What a pita
Omg :O WHERE did you get that awesome scope mount? I have the big heavy side mounted one and this thing looks exactly like what I need for my M1A :O Gimme teh goods!!!
Does anyone know this guy or has a way of finding out how to do the custom scope mount like that because that seems like a real weight saver compared to any M1A scope mounts.
@zeno57 Yeah, I just saw this online right before I saw this flick, it's a Mcmillan Tactical m1a rifle. I don't think the stock comes w/o the rifle. You may just have to do a google search rather than looking at their site.
@zeno57 I just looked up the voltor and it doesn't look like that stock except for the buttstock, which is part of the modstock line. The forward end of the rifle is Mcmillan. mcmfamily(dot)com/mcmillan-rifles-tactical-m1a(dot)php
@GunWebsites Dude, it's a modern take on an M14/M1A. Why doesn't he leave the wood stock on, have less adjustability with regards to his stock, weight more with all the accesories, and have less accessory options? Oh wait. He wouldn't. Because he's a smart man and wouldn't put himself at a disadvantage.
Americans are overdoing their rifles. Even if they will use their EBR and I will use an old Garand or M1 /M2 carbine. Its all in the user now. They said enhanced yet does it really enhanced its accuracy, power or just its external look. The russians stick to their old AK47- very old looking but very reliable. But of course its america it will not admit that its rifles are sometimes inferior.
@diosdadoapias As a matter of fact, the EBR stock does improve accuracy. You know about stock bedding right? Imagine that your action is bolted into the stock....well that is what it essentially does (more like an alum. bedding). And it also allows for adjustability for length of pull and stock comb.
And you're wrong, the Russians now use the AK-74 (newest is the ak-200), which uses the 5.45x39 because of better ballistics and accuracy. The AK is going being revamped just like the M-14.
@MrGorillaMan48 would you rather it didn't have the scope? or would it just be better for you not to be able to see in the dark? or how about shoot your wife who's in the room behind the attacker that you happen to be shooting at because you couldn't control your gun? it's his gun, he can do what he wants with it.
@dougefresh091 obviously you've never had to drag an M-4 for the U.S. army M203 40mm grenade launcher, ACOG, grenade launcher sight l, white ight and AN PEQ 15 = heavy but all deemed needed by certain units.
This rifle is LIGHT & naked by those standards.
While it's not the configuration I personally would choose , I can't knock the user for his choices as all will be useful. there's no "dead weight" to it.
Hey Hows it going? I have a Socom 16 and i was looking to upgrade to a better stock. I saw that you changed from the Vltor Modstock to the MFS-14 i was wondering which you liked better and why? Also so pros and cons of both if you dont mind. Thanks so much i really appreciate it!!!
You are lucky you don't live in California. Your rifle looks great. People that don't shoot a Socom 16 don't know what they are missing! This rifle is a small sledgrhammer and will eat the AR'S 15.
@GunWebsites Shouldn't there be a change in the title, since .308 Winchester is different from 7.62x51mm NATO, just as the .223 is different from the 5.56x45mm NATO as well?
I have a loaded m1a and a socom II they are my absolute favorite rifles ever. If I had more money I would get more but two are good for now. More vids on m1a's please.

@iamhatedbyteachers Because there's no such thing as the "best" when it comes to ergonomics, it usually comes down to personal preference. Magpul makes fantastic products, but they are not the be all and end all in the industry. VLTOR, Tango Down, Magpul, and many others make very high quality products, but different things naturally attract different people. I'm a big fan of the Magpul VFG, but I also really like the stubby vertical grips like the one in the video.
@iamhatedbyteachers well, that particular grip will give the gun more weight to the front. And it is already heavy enough. However, the smaller vertical grips allow for better control of the front heavy weapon.
it is heavy compared to all other rifles.. but if you compare this one to other 7.62x51 battle rifles.. this one is a hot rod (ans a sweet one at that)
@GunWebsites The reason for the front heaviness is so that the shooter can compensate for recoil of the rifle. Basically, this allows the shooter to get back on target and prevents damage to the wrist in the back. The rifle recoils (rotates) at the exact point where the shooter is holding the rifle.
Here come the Zombies...

@thatguynamedbrent if u saw the way he holds his M1A the angled forgrip would best suite him, and I never said magpul was the best

@iamhatedbyteachers If the AFG suited him best.... don't you think he'd have one of those on his weapon instead of a stubby vert grip?
thatguynamedbrent 8 months ago
@thatguynamedbrent maybe he hasn't tried it I'm just making a suggestion to help the fellow gun owner I don't want to get into a argument about this
iamhatedbyteachers 7 months ago
@iamhatedbyteachers well, that particular grip will give the gun more weight to the front. And it is already heavy enough. However, the smaller vertical grips allow for better control of the front heavy weapon.

@PaleHorseWC2
it is heavy compared to all other rifles.. but if you compare this one to other 7.62x51 battle rifles.. this one is a hot rod (ans a sweet one at that)

@GunWebsites For you, this or a SCAR 17?
PaleHorseWC2 8 months ago
@PaleHorseWC2
tough,, on the surface a Scar heavy.. but I really like this too, so if it was a real offer I would have to think hard and weigh it all out
GunWebsites 8 months ago
@GunWebsites The reason for the front heaviness is so that the shooter can compensate for recoil of the rifle. Basically, this allows the shooter to get back on target and prevents damage to the wrist in the back. The rifle recoils (rotates) at the exact point where the shooter is holding the rifle.
