@phuck0bama No one is ever left to do anything on their own. While the shooter is focussed on targeting down range it is that dudes job to help prevent tripping while walking backwards, while also providing sec to sec instruction to the shooter. It is also not far from what happens in the field. Shoulder taps and back touches are great comm strategies for guys sharing cover while remaining focussed on the target. Especially in environments with explosions and gunfire nonverbal works well.
@phuck0bama In a swat team they do exactly the same thing. The cue for go on a room clear is a tap on the leaders shoulder. When a dude is in retreat laying cover fire his buddies might guide him back. There are teams that will even use where and how they touch each other to signify whether a guy that is targeting and walking backwards needs to step high, left, or right. Plus on the range it is safety, but also good training for some of their habits in the field.
dont look down when working on your weapon, bring it up to your workspace so you can still look down range where the bad guys are moving around! smooth movement, nice!
@IMFDB in this instance it means high risk training.. but its not really. high risk training would be a contractor course where if you screw up, you'd very likely get a bullet in you accidentally.
@jack5760 add ons are mostly for looks as they usually don't work correctly or impede the general functionality of the weapon. I don't even like rail covers. I will say that a nice sight and maybe even a broomstick isn't that bad especially in cqb.
why do the instructors hold the shooter's back like that? i've seen it in a lot of videos but i've never known why

he'll need to move faster than that...

speed is not the point of the drill. It is much harder than it looks. it's not like the movies where you spray everything.
