With times being as bad as they are, you need to think outside of the to-go box. Its cheaper to feed your family from your garden and livestock than going to the store every week, and you know its home grown so no preservatives.

I'm making my way towards vegetarianism (right now I still indulge in seafood), but I applaud the idea of self-sufficiency. Some vegetarians are so because they don't like the current farming and slaughtering practices in place and not because they're against the idea of meat as a whole. While I couldn't eat it, an animal allowed to live a good life and humanely slaughtered doesn't disturb me as long as there's respect there for its contribution.

There is no real definitive natural or unnatural in this world. Hunting for food is as natural as building cities, which is natural. Humans use the combination of intelligence and tools to build buildings. But there is a very fine difference between need and greed. There is no real need to hunt for survival anymore- or even eat meat for that matter. Hunting is very primitive. I guess the same can be said for farming produce; but the difference is killing of sentient animals.
It has a very light taste and texture, like superwhite meat chicken. It has nearly no fat. I read that high class maidens in Rome were to only be fed rabbit because it made them "fairer and more willing."

I'm making my way towards vegetarianism (right now I still indulge in seafood), but I applaud the idea of self-sufficiency. Some vegetarians are so because they don't like the current farming and slaughtering practices in place and not because they're against the idea of meat as a whole. While I couldn't eat it, an animal allowed to live a good life and humanely slaughtered doesn't disturb me as long as there's respect there for its contribution.

Pshhhh. "Poor thing"?? Life feeds on life. Killing a rabbit to eat is no different than picking an apple or pulling up a carrot. It's the most natural thing in the world. BTW: This is just like cleaning a deer, only smaller. The biggest thing is to get the gut out without rupturing its contents.

There is no real definitive natural or unnatural in this world. Hunting for food is as natural as building cities, which is natural. Humans use the combination of intelligence and tools to build buildings. But there is a very fine difference between need and greed. There is no real need to hunt for survival anymore- or even eat meat for that matter. Hunting is very primitive. I guess the same can be said for farming produce; but the difference is killing of sentient animals.

It has a very light taste and texture, like superwhite meat chicken. It has nearly no fat. I read that high class maidens in Rome were to only be fed rabbit because it made them "fairer and more willing."

They butcher the animals in the same way. You see these are the technical facts of the world beyond your; shall we say... sheltered world. This is not cruel, this is life. Are you trying to convey to us that you're an animal? I mean if you're trying to justify eating them, by saying "Oh well animals eat each other", the impression I get is you think you're an animal. In which case you're correct. "Human" is a term made up by us to satisfy our ego. We evolved for billions of years from animals until now...at which point we're humans? LOL yeah, that's it.
As for "it's all part of life", if you get eaten by a bear, no one should feel sorry then, right?
