  • that was the titst'...cool version by the stones, too; don't think i've heard before.

  • Amp settings?

  • At first i said, HES NOT EVEN SINGING!

  • Damn that was good!!!

  • man you just amaze me with your great playing.

  • sounds sooooo great!

  • Hey man, I subbed, please check out my channel too! You rock, Fly!

  • Hey man thanks, this is interesting stuff! Much love, Fly

  • My bad. Tune down to E flat-keeping the third out of it. Makes sense with power chords dominating songs

  • Great cover/instruction. I'm amazed you can tune the open G string to E flat without breaking it.

  • For f*** sake no wonder I couldn't bloody play this, what weird tuning!

  • i mean that sounds perfect!!!

  • E string off!! good stuff cheers!

  • Insightful , so what tuning do we have here, open G? Great Job-i used to play it in standard key of A-always loved the drumming and the Hammond a la Billy Preston(?)

  • well crud...I have been playing this song wrong for 40 years.

  • @danielltaylor well, me too :) but the joy of revelation/discovery/epiphany is much much greater than those mere 40 years of not getting it right!

  • @nasalwhine , That is true. I always used the standard tuning and played the song more of a Johnny Winter style. There are so many variations of this great song, but yours sounds the closest to The Rolling Stones. Thanks for all the lessons you are posting. You do not know how much it is appreciated.

  • Thank a lot !!!

    This is a great video!!

  • That is te sexiest guitar I ever seen in my entire life.

  • @BrianScarface

    I loooove it too ...

  • thanks for the lesson! i play ok, but i COULD NOT figure out how they did this.

  • Thanks for the licks, you are the best!

  • sorry for the multiposts....my pc is acting up

  • Great Stuff. I love getting wild looks from people when I play this song in open e. We play the intro live and it goes over well. I love how you are always true to Keef's voicing/style yet add your flair. We must be brothers of other mothers. ;-) Anyway, just curious what made you think of using the Eb on the 3rd string instead of regular open Eb tuning which would have been a G...sounds good, I like it.

  • from which album is this version of the song?

  • @rafaelkrug no particular album.. its in a lot of compilations... the song was released as a single just before beggars banquet in 1968.. great years of music and illumination.

  • This is the best example of this tune I have ever seen!

  • Another Home Run Man! You do such a great job on your videos. I really appreciate them. Thank You

    Cheers

  • Mr Twangy is actually Chuck Norris, that is why he does not want to show his face...this guitar self conbusted seconds after this video ended.

  • @1234gregor Thanks for the info. I'd always heard about the overloaded cassette player bit giving that odd electric/acoustic sound, but I could never nail the tuning(s). Some suggest an open-E tuning, which is a good guess. I always wondered why that great 9-bar intro was omitted from live performances, and it's likely that open tuning(s) couldn't be replicated live. But my observation is correct if you check out ROCK & ROLL CIRCUS and HYDE PARK '69 - un-capoed and capoed open-G, respectively.

  • Fantastic! Looks fun as hell playing in the open tuning! I've been playing it in standard using power chords, but this looks so much more fun! (And of course, sounds much better)

    Great song, awesome playing!

  • This is great. A lot of people do this song a lot of different ways, but this is just the best.

  • Maravilloso, me encanta...

  • standard tuning ???

  • @gozoisawesome No, not sure what it is but thats not standard. Open something I think.

  • @gozoisawesome OPEN E...NOT G

  • @laspenasdelfenix keef says its open G.... its open G

  • @jenkoEire In beggars banquets keith plays in Open E.Since Ya´s Ya´s he plays in Open G...

  • @laspenasdelfenix

I've heard that Keith plays in open E on the studio recording, with other overdubbing added. He appears to be in standard tuning on ROCK & ROLL CIRCUS in the key of B (at both the IIV and II positions), and as early as '69 New Hyde Park had adapted his newly-found open-G capoed at the IV position (B), and he also changed the riff's structure from B5-B5-E-F#-A5 to B5-B5-A-B5-D5, which remain interchangeable and Ronnie's counterpart complements. GREAT TRACK & GREAT, FUN RIFF.

  • @DDEENY I read he used two acoustics played into a cassette recorder on the original recording which made them sound electric played back into the master. Both were detuned to E flat capo first fret (giving open E) which I think tightens/compresses the sound. One had the E-B-E-G# strung with 12 string octave strings accounting for those crystalyne high notes in the big B chords etc. These factors make it very difficult to reproduce, although this version is more authentic than most I've heard

  • is that guitar standard tuned?

  • anyone who knows anything about keith knows that nearly all stones songs after 68ish are in open g! nice one mate this is really helpful

  • Really good . . . .

  • Wonderful to see youTube being used for goodness and niceness.

Thanks for sharing your gift. You're very talented.Do you work at the "Daily Planet"???

  • are you using a fender amp by any chance? i've been trying to achieve the sound you're getting with my Fender Frontman...

  • You are awesome!!!

  • strangest tuning ive ever seen but this is awesome!

  • I don't know if the original song are like this, but this is an awesome interpretation! Well done! Crazy tuning by the way! I'm gonna try it!

  • Than was... AMAZING...

  • right on man you rock!!!!!!

  • ok...I tuned the way it says....IT WORKS....PERFECTLY....thanx twangy....you da man..

  • Wow the tuning is SOOOOOOO Awkward!! Seems like cake having to bar only 1 fret for a chord but with the way most chords are played, it's gonna be awkward trying to play O.O and same question as tubetube1221 has: ...are you sure about the tuning? is that how Keith played it?

  • hey twangy....are you sure about the tuning? is that how Keith played it?

  • top bloke, ignore the whingers

  • I have purchased your tutorials on dvd. I find them to be very useful. This is a very good cover of Jumpng Jack Flash. Never would have figured the tuning on my own. Thank you for sharing. You are considered my favorite subscription with along side of privettricker. You should check him out as well. Peace.

  • TABS PLEASE!!! All the ones on the internet are different and have wrong tunings!!

  • awesome

  • Whats the tuning???

  • is this drop d?

  • Love it, Original studio version I think. I've played the riff a couple of different ways, I 'll have to try it this way....thanks for the post.

  • cool cover !

  • nice one mate.

that's one of my favorite riffs

  • If you can't tell this is real, you're a cunt.

  • Cool - what version u playing along too? Its not the 68 rocknroll circuss one is it? Thanks

  • what brand of strings used

    and size are

  • @57458701 Doesnt matter that much

  • rre bienn che touch ..

I am not able to say the name of that guitar that sounds good ... rre

  • Cool cover, can you do a cover from fruits and icebergs from blue cheer?

  • It sounds like the Stones live when they did those promotional videos in the 60's promoting JJF at Olympic studios. The open tuning is very cool. What key are you using? E? G?

  • I don't see any button labeled 'more info'.

  • can u do an instructional video on this pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you going to have a lesson on that song. I like the way you play it. You play it better than the other covers.

  • what amp did you use on this one and how many songs do you use that mission 5e3 on ?

  • is this an open E in 440? sounds great....sorry just read the rest of june 8, lokks like it something else and tuned down a half step?

  • is this an open E in 440? sounds great....

  • ;-)))))))))))))))) ahhhh now thats played well

  • How did you learn of this tuning? I understand that live the tuning is still open G but for this song a capo is used.

  • Hi, I have watched all your videos and have to say what a total inspirational player you are. You always get me to pick up my guitar and practice. Many thanks

  • Excellent Mr Twangy!

  • thank you thank you thank you

I turned heads at GC with this and the wife loves it.

  • Great work dude .. one of the best covers i have heard. Keep it coming .

  • man your an awesome player and your telecaster is beautiful-- all of your vids are grreat

  • its a gas gas gas!! i think thats the guitar part i learned from my thick rolling stones book

  • I use a Vintage 1970 Teisco Del Ray, and I have trouble geting my fingers all the way across the fretboard, what should I do?

  • Teles are sweet.

  • mesmeric!

  • What version of JJF is playing in the background. It's a little different and better than the original I'm used to. Excellent cover. Thanks.

  • The hi def is cool. Nice editing too :) Here come the classic licks...

  • what is the tuning you are using please? Absolutely awesome

  • This guy is a monster!!!!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar

That is why you rule! Thanks for the quick reply!

  • The tuning you use, is that used in the original by Keith? Heard he fools around with alot of different tunings or is it just this one he use? :)

Thanks in advance for any answer.

    regards // Svante

  • @SavantSvant in JJF he used open D in studio then started using open G (capo 4th fret) live. Some other Stones classics use open G as well, some with capo some not. It's possible to play this with standard tuning but it doesn't sound "right".

  • Watch his hand play and dance to the music! whoot!

  • Which backing track did you use for this? It isnt the studio version, and I don't know this live version, if it is live. Good guitarwork, by the way

  • hey great job where did you get the tabs for this? what tuning?

  • could you tab this song for me?

  • Comment removed

  • i like listening to this than the actual song itself more!

  • So great to hear this, can only imagine any crowd going crazy to hear this in the open air bars on a summer evening anywhere in the world.

  • I thank you very much: after many years I can now play in the right way!

  • wow !

    hat off !!!

(to this song .. and to all other cover you did on the tube around here.. )

    great sound, perfect style !

  • Can I play this song in standard tuning???

  • @JeffKnight

i used to play it my own way on standard but it sounded live....its ten times easier with the tuning hes using

  • You may find the version I'm talkink about on my account. I just published it for you...:-)

  • Awesome! Try to perform Johnny Winter version too. It is more wild and exciting.

  • I AM AN OLD DUDE LIVING IN FLORIDA AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE ROLAND UNIT YOU USED IN THE CHUCK BERRY LICKS. thanks john

  • For Charles Darwin's Sake. This is really great.

  • what tuning is this?

  • perfecto

  • could you tab it and send it to me? (A)

  • Wow... Very Very Very cool, I can't decide on what I love more, Brown Sugar, or Jumpin Jack Flash. I'm assuming you have over 35 years of experience which is far superior to only my petty 15. Keep up the awesome covers.

  • wtf how can this be fake realy have you heard the sound of his guitar its nice but nothing like that of keith richards (no offence dude) also the technique this guy uses is different to the style of keith richards besides the fact that keith played without the bottom E string because he usually used open G tuning and the bottom string doesnt sound very nice but to be fair nice effort couldnt have doen better my self

  • wow!! great cover! got that pickguard too,its hot as hell :)

    btw nice skills dude!

  • Hey asowe dude great cover very cool and authentic Thanks for the great lesson and now i listenig the others hits

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Great, thank you for the hint. Keep on rockin'.

  • Sounds very authentic, great work. The best Jumpin Jack Flash cover I've seen so far on youtube. Are there any tabs, where I can try it myself? I don't have that much experience that I can transfer the chords I see onto my guitar.

  • Hey mate...you just play great....It's a pleasure to listen to... :)

  • One of the best I've seen. At last someone gets the tuning and plays it right!

  • im with you claypirate...this guy is dodgy

  • @sat8vai14 - So dodgy that you have 10 of my videos favorited.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar

    Haha owned @sat8vai14!!!!

    Really nice cover!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Maybe he meant "dandy"!!!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar own!!!

    hauhauhauhauhauhauhau!!!!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Hahahaha, these people are hypocritical...

  • @MyTwangyGuitar

Dude you should so allow people to thumbs up your comment

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Sorry sat8vai14 - You just got put in check.

  • @sat8vai14 This is not fake!

It may look like strange strumming' but that is because of the open tuning.

  • @frodo261 I'm with ya. There will always be naysayers out there, but that's their problem. The ones that see through that profit.

  • Amazing! luv the stones

  • Excellent job, my twangy friend! You've given me some great insights into how this song is played and I thank you! Looks like I'm about to be messing around in open-G tuning for a bit...LOL. Great playing, and your Tele RAWKS OUT LOUD!

    LC

  • @MrTyler561 Yea man, YOUR version of those two songs kills this guy! Oh wait! You don't have a damn thing posted on your account. YOU'RE the one who is obviously a fake who doesn't know dick about playing guitar. LOL.

  • These videos are great. Thanks so much for doing this!

  • something bout this playing not right.....bit suspect not real.!!!!!

  • @sat8vai14 - Right...

  • @sat8vai14 I will echo MyTwangyGuitar and say...Right...and I will add that there is something suspect about you, too. Don't forget that youtube is a glass house and we can always visit YOUR account and see that you don't have any uploads of your own playing. C'mon man, show us how it's REALLY done, man!

  • @sat8vai14 i agree, does not look real strumming is off.

  • @CIaypirate - Really? So who's playing?

  • @MyTwangyGuitar my apologies for the earlier comment a friend of mine actually posted it. not me. i actually liked it.

  • @CIaypirate - No worries. I'm amused when someone claims I'm faking it. Regarding this video, I do remark that there are three guitar parts total. If my strumming doesn't match up to what is being heard, that may be why.

    Have a great day...

  • You made it look easy. Great work!!

  • Hey great clips. Excellent sound My 9 year old thinks you are very cool. he's nailing the songs as well. Cheers

  • great sound of guitar and backing track fills excellent....+1

  • Excellent all around.

  • what kind of guitar is this how much did it cost thanks. you are an amazing guitarist with great taste in music

  • i can't find good tabs for this :(

  • Awesome Sam!! Could you do a cover or a tutorial of Don´t Stop by The Rolling Stones??

  • @pukarla - Thanks, Karla. The songs you've requested could present copyright problems.

  • ohh! you´re right, the copyright is a problem :S

    Thanks anyway Sam!

    Have a nice day

  • I play standard tuning with capo at second fret but not covering the low E string. Try it. You can get some of the same open tuning vibe without having to retune.

  • @StevenEsqTwo - I only play these songs for the videos and never play them again when finished. If I were gigging, I would certainly do that. Thanks, Steve.

  • awesome :-) gonna have to buy me a telecaster....

  • kickass sound...

  • fake

  • @mangorbe - What a great compliment. Thank you.

  • Mandork. You're the fake and queer bait too.

    This guy has real talent!

  • please dont delete this one

  • That one's fine, it's a backing track.

  • can this song be played in standard tuning?

  • most keith richards stuff is in open g tuning.

  • You Rock man..awesome coverage..

  • sounds like b tuning to me but then again i can never tell

  • what tuning is this in? sounds almost better than Richards..

  • @williammazza - The tuning info is in the sidebar under (more info).

  • what tuning are you in? I always have done it in open G but now i am having doubts if that I'm doing it the wrong way.. Your tuning sounds perfect

  • If I wanted to play rolling stones songs, I know anybody would recommend a telecaster, but is there a specific model, you'd recommend? yours sounds pretty good...

  • Sounds great !!!!! Love this tuning ..awesome , like all your videos, nothing but class!...I hear static on my Tele, when I touch the pickguard ..when can I do to remedy that?.............sounds great, I'm addicted, you've helped me a whole lot.............keep em comin' when you have the time...........THANK YOU

  • man your as good as anybody

  • Bb flat tunung.
