I remember watching one Braves game when Bob was attempting to steal second base. Bob was never known for his speed on the bases, so it was unusual to seem him try a steal. But, as he was sliding into second, the catcher threw the ball to the second baseman, but the ball hit Bob in the helmet and knocked him out. The amusing part was that his slide carried him safely on top of the base, where he laid until he revived. I wonder if he still talks about that play?
bob horner was my favorite player as a boy-i just think what might have been should he had stayed healthy-i still cherish my 1979 topps rookie card of him

Injuries derailed his career..solid hitter and player.

I was a big fan of Bob Horner growing up. Without his hip and shoulder injuries, he probably would have reached 500 homers.

@GustoPizzaCo The man had an amazing ability to turn on a pitch as fast as anyone. He had the quickest wrists of any baseball player I've ever seen.

Looks like he's not worried about the weight clause in his contract anymore.

If he could have stayed healthy...he would have set a few records...just a compact swing that could generate such power.
