It wouldn't wear down though. It's coated in plastic.

it would wear down if it was nitro, or any lacquer, its the urethanes that are plastic and are nearly impossible to wear through

In my opinion these Teles are way over priced. Looked at one a couple of days ago and you could see the sanding marks and water stains where they had been sanding. What a disappointment. Built to many to pay for a finish like that.

yeah, i guess you get what you pay for, It's not a custom shop. this guitar sounds awesome, thats what i was most impressed by, not the looks, i have a Ibanez jem for that!
