@sushidevil scouts is fun but you get stuck if your in scouts, in infantry you get alot of schools and get to opt for ranger and Special Forces later down the path.
@back211 we have the same access to all those schools too, 11-series are not all that special. Infantry Scout is nothing compared to Cavalry Scout. The psych of a Scout is different then that of an Infantryman. A job is a job. Everyone has their own preference. Oh and btw Scouts can handle explosives whereas Infantry usually have to rely on Combat Engineers, Scouts, Rangers and or Operators to breach. Do some research before comparing. To each his own.

I spent four years as a cav scout. stateside and bored the whole damn time. I went to every school I could. Pathfinder, airborne, took some classes through law enforcement. The best time I had was bouncing at the Thoroughbread just down the road from Knox. That job had some bennefits !

This is a former army member telling you this. In this day and age you're better off going Navy or Air Force. The job oportunities are much bigger coming out of the service and you'll receive more technical skills. I got out and was qualified to be a fkn security guard. It's not just me that gets out of the Army and is limited in employment choices. You'll receive the same training I did, and come out with the same options. I packed as many schools in as I could, jump at Benning, pathfinder at Polk, desert survival at Irwin, it was great training, but useless as a civi. Whatever you do, good luck, jsut don't end up like 4 of my buddies, we burried them and mom was left holding a flag. Think about it. On the brighter side, glad to see the Yanks whip the bosox.
@polawski169 IF you want to do the toughest job 19D in the Army. If you want the best treatment and coolest job go with Aerial gunner USAF. Only go Marines if you are more concerned with Hollywood movies than the real world.

When I changed my job to bleed red and white, it was and still is 16 weeks of training, in this case instead of basic training (BT) and advance individual training (AIT) it is called One Station Unit Training. Also compared to all other OSUT that I have observed when I was a recruiter I've noticed that mine is the most mentally challenging as we HAVE TO pay attention to the smallest detail on long durations, I have numerous friends in other fields that can vouch for me. We are the BEST!
i was a scout once... 1-303. it was fun. it was sad. it was worth it. i made tons of friends. cryed when they died. cryed wen i was shipped back up to the states. hell i even cried when i was goin back to iraq. but i never cried when i was physically injured. i have nueropathy and when i got my leg shot

rexrooter, all you do is post comments about how you hate people in the Military. Go outside and look at the sky;breathe in some uncirculated air....You really need it man. And maybe find a woman. You will feel much better about your self. And before you know it, you will love people in the Military!
