it is unluckly that these vids will get veiwers doing no hand cartwheels or butterfly kicks but we can still apprieciate them, and it is true that unlike how modern north-south american cultures allow people to become a (master) after just about 8 years or less of training through belt levels, the shaolin style takes many more years to become more than a mere student. But that shouldn't be a discouragement.
Those comments are crap. Those video's are very helpful, you all find me a better teacher who can teach me real Kung Fu no? then shut the hell up to the people who are mocking this amazing Martial Artist.
I know this whole form in another style, especially that last movement... That's kinda weird, but funny lol. And by the way, Shaolin is the ancestor of every martial art style, except a few ..
Lets get a firm understanding of the WAY to master your art.. TRAINING TRAINING, oh and more TRAINING. See Im a student of Wu Gong Fu. I'm by no means a master, and just barely a student. Our style has trained MASTERS that by no less than 24 yrs of training, will one achieve the spirit of the art form. If your trying to learn how to fight, then you've alrdy lost your way. If your trying to be a master of your art, Body control is first, Mind control will come as body. Then your on your way.
Beautiful execution. As an avid martial artist and a student of Hapkihae, I still love to marvel at the ability and the beauty of Shaolin Kung-Fu. You guys are awesome.
Well then...You sir, are awesome. I do want to ask one question that has plagued me for years. Are there any black shaolin monks up there?? I know it may be a bit forward, but my wife is chinese and she said she has never seen any over there. She's from the Hunan province, but grew up in Beijing. We are thinking to send our children to school over there, and I want them to train in Kung Fu and Wu Shu while they are there.
To answer your question. China has always been bios on who is taught martial arts. They are prejudice to foreigners, and choose to not teach as much as possible. They fear their secrets will be reviled and mocked, or feared. or used against them. Bruce Lee was the one who refused not to teach just his own. And he died from doing so. (my opinion) . IF your not Asian and want to learn. It's all about training and focus on 1 style for at least 4 yrs consistently or up to a lifetime per style.
Yeah, and that's what that green suit with the black stripe symbolized for Bruce Lee, that he wasn't owned to one master. I have always been a practicioner of martial arts since I was 8. I have been all around the world and have had the pleasure of studying with many different races and cultures of people, inhaling every bit of knowledge I could from them. But, I have always been fascinated truly by the way of Shaolin. I hope that these barriers thru time will cease to exist.
I have been doing martial arts for 20 years this year, and I still feel like I just started. I just want to be able to show my kids the beauties and cultures that life has to offer through rigorous training and discipline. No one art is better than the other. Its just like choosing tea. Its all on the preference of the person and their desire to absorb and understand every aspect of the flavor they've chosen. Thank you for your reply. ...Martial Artist for life....
shaolin is the beginning or all martial arts. And in order to understand the art you have to TRAIN FOR AT LEAST 24 YEARS STRAIGHT EVERY DAY EVERY HOUR to be considered a STUDENT of Kungfu.. Now with that said, How many of you acutually TRAIN THAT HARD, and no matter what Martial art you perfer, If you trained as rigiously for 24 yrs of your life, you would be Considered a student, of your art. Take your weakest punch, train it for 24yrs 8hrs a day, now its your STONGEST PUNCH. This is shaolin.
Martial arts existed before shaolin temple. They existed elsewhere than just china. And there is no timeline on the learning curve. It's long, you can make it your life, but it isn't 24 years before passing the grade of mere student. Though figuratively you learn every day. But isn't that the truth in every walk of life. Do a little every day, get a teacher and life will play it's course. I' m not saying don't work hard, but you're unreal, man.
Well your sort of right and wrong. 1st, Of course people walked the earth and just fought on shear instincts.2nd 24yrs is a minimum for our style, Wu Gong Fu. This is the body training time. It takes an avg of that time per student. 3rd Your also considering your life is in the way. That has nothing to do with kungfu. If your training Kungfu, then you are Kungfu. No lazy way to make it. Thats why its hard to master. Unreal? Kungfu is the most unreal martial art out there. This is y its the best.
Life isn'T a series of events leading to a success. That is kung fu. What you do every day dilligently while you are here. I succeed in learning new things regularly at my school and I am bette for it. The grading system in china didn't exist 20 years back, so stuff it with your idiocy. What you master is all in the eyes of the beholder, thats why you need no grade. We'll know if it's an art or not, we'll see by your dilligenttraining that it is kung fu. What you are doing is working for a prize
Ignorance is BLISS, Your right hazard2k, but did you know that Muay Thai is a form of Shaolin? Tell you another secret. I've fought countless Gracie punching bags. Never loss to one. Gracie jujitsu has made a name from not fighting. Shaolin made its name by FIGHTING 1000's of armies and going against the Chinese emperor. For over 1500 years Shaolin has been the MOST sought after martial art. Compared to the last 12 yrs of Gracie. Muay is about the sparing. The more you spare the better you know.
Wonderful, thanks so much for this I have trained in Muay-Thia and boxing for about a decade and always wanted to learn basic mvement excersises to add to my training. Thanks again!
"Beatiful execution" lol I can't help but think about a guilliotine beheading people when I see that word.
