They are considered formal attair and are required in some hunter classes including some with ponies...its not usually the riders decision. Deff. not ment for JUST dressage.
actually the shadbellys were originally designed for hunter. Just like how hunter is based off foxhunting so is the shadbelly; as many riders used to wear them during the hunt. So no, they are not just for dressage.
@dylanXhorsieXtime Obviously your not an AA circuit rider. Shadbellys aren't worn just because hunter riders feel like it. It helps your overall turnout immensely, and is considered lady-like. If you watch special hunter classes, such as this one, you will see that 90% of the riders are wearing a shadbelly.
@iHeartHickstead I'm pretty sure it says you replied from my comment from two years ago. But yes I do go to real shows (I do the open jumpers) and I do see all of them wearing 'em for classics and whatnot. But I grew up with dressage and eventing and that's just how I was personally taught. I see it every day and it is what it is. But I personally think it looks odd given my background. I even once saw a german MAN wear one for a hunter class. Needless to say he got some strange looks.
you touched her water at WEF. okay, i dont really know what to say about that. i wish my parents could afford to send me to some bigger shows like her
keep practising , ride lots of horses! and get good , do everything you can to keep getting better and start with small catchrides , if you are good the horses and ponies will come after that
i hate doing this, but ride other horses at your barn (even lesson horses) strut a little infront of your trainer. show off. show her how good you can be, and she will ask for your help. with catchrides, showing, eventually traveling. good luck :)
@dreamershavemorefun She mostly rides with her dad now, but she used to ride with Heritage Farm alot and she still does in the equitation sometimes!
