Looks great! I've been doing the same, but had better luck flying the kite higher, and fastening the element about 30m from the tow point of the kite. Then I fly the kite higher taking the element up about 1/4 wave of the Top Band. I ground the feedline to the car, or stretch radials.
Nice video. Cody Kites have great lifting capabilities and are usually very stable. My mate, G0NTR, was always on about aerial lifting kites for QRP CW, dont think he ever actually did it though. Was the aerial lifting kite not an idea from the Great War? 5*, and thanks.
Thanks, yes the idea of antenna lifting on kites has been around since I guess Marconi. It has never been that popular i guess due to the limited number of days / reliability. The only other problem we has was the receiver being overloaded by broadcast, even through the closest HF site is 20 miles away. The ATU solved this problem, I guess making a "notch" filter, and the QRO on top band from the kite was impressive. (see other vids) One of the best kites I have now is the sutton flowform m0taz
It is hard to assemble this type of kite in strong wind.
I prefer French Military kite.
Cheers
