There are only two times I've wept at a movie. The death of Mr. Spock and the fall of Optimus Prime. This has to be one of the best battle / death scenes ever created.
It is not Hotrod's fault. Remember he tried to save Optimus. The Matrix of Leadership chose him when he grabbed it that's why Ultra Magnus couldn't open it. And he defeated Galvatron, destroyed Unicron, and became Rodimus Prime.
@Girard1020 Ultra Magnus couldn't open it because he is a loser who thinks HIM being surrounded by a handful of Decepticons count as the Autobot's "darkest hour"
