For comparison, the F150 can basically carry an '03 Mitsubishi Galant or Eclipse in the back end. Truly impressive, I donno why they call them mere half tons. Then again, a 20 year old F150 base model could carry over 1750...you couldn't pile enough crap in one of those to overtax it....

The problems with these commercials is stupid buyers hear f 150 can tow 11,000 lbs and proceed to buy one not realizing that rating is ONLY for 2 DOOR SINGLE CAB with OVERLOAD leaf springs. An f 150 crew cab will not do this SAFELY! Just look up all the truck accidents on the web.

really, i find that hard to believe... my 2003 F-150 is only suppose to tow 8,600 lbs, I towed my 2004,31ft Prowler camper(empty weight is 7,500)from ohio to keywest Fl. now it had my family of 4, two germanshepards(around 80-85lb each) propane,food,gas,water(in the camper),etc the total weight of the truck, trailer,&everything combined was 29,500 lbs. towed that 2600 miles. ford trucks haul anything you throw at them

Saw it happen and the Tundra huffed and puffed and um, well it didnt win... And ive seen the sided videos on Yutube where they put a 2wd F150 up to a 4x4 Tundra or they forget to engage 4wd on a 4x4 F150 yadda yadda yadda all lies.

That's pretty funny. All of Fords Heavy duty and super duty trucks use open C channel frames. Even the F450/F550.

It's also funny that the 11,000lb towing capacity was suddenly announced the day after Toyota published their towing capacity for the new Tundra but no actual change was made to the F150 (manufacturer publishes max towing weight, there's no government regulation on how that's measured).

Anyone who believes these commercials drivel should test drive all the trucks in that class.
