Hey man, this is great, been following your videos for some time now and you never cease to amaze me, the feel and groove in all your vids is great!
I'd like to thank you for being on youtube first of all, and secondly for being a great inspiration, after watching your vids i had to tune my guitar to open G, and i've left it like that ever since! :)
@grindamadurin Thanks, man. I don't get a chance to catch up on my comments often, but I see all of them, and you've left some really nice ones... for a guy who basically just sits around his room playing for his own pleasure, getting appreciative feedback like yours really makes my day. Glad I could provide some enjoyment & more importantly some inspiration... makes me feel like I'm making the best use of my time. Thanks again.
Your blues playing is really great, seriously. It took me a while to move on to some of your other covers besides the Hitchcock one, and they're great. I'm glad I did.
Thanks man. It took me a really long time to feel like I found my voice. It's amazing to me that after 20 years of sitting around my room playing, suddenly here's youtube, and other people appreciate my private joy. It makes my day to get compliments like this, thanks!
hey bro, I disagree with your "About this video" discription. the diff between this and lots of the too much ketchup burgers is you took the time to create a nice big fat groove (burger). Once you do that you can put on as much ketchup, tomato, lettuce, onions as you want. but your right, gotta have that groove first and hint at it all the way. WOW, what a great guitarist to be able to play all them licks and still understand what makes em really sound good !
Thanks, man. Funny thing was, I just picked up the guitar that day, and this groove just came out... I was half asleep. I've actually had a hard time replicating it since, too.
I go back 'n' forth over the "too much ketchup" issue. It's a fine line in my mind between playing just enough and overplaying just a bit, and a tough one to explain to other people. I think this video sits right on the line.
Hey, by the way, man, I don't know if I've sent you a friend request before but I'm gonna send you one now - you should accept it, then I won't have to manually approve your comments.
Never... I *never* practice. I jam out every single day (almost), but it's a different thing from practicing, as my friends who do actually practice are fond of reminding me. But I just love playing, so I play all the time... 22 years of that, and eventually you get somewhere. I sucked pretty hard the first 5 or 10 years, actually. It took a long time, but because I wasn't actually trying to get better, it didn't take any patience.
I play like that too. I don't have any patience to practice or learn songs from bands... I prefer to play my own 'crap' but seeing the way it turned out for you, this gives me hope that one day I'll become good too... maybe as good as you ;-)
Just love what you're doing & keep at it, & it's a sure thing. And even better, it won't matter to you either way, actually. (Although the compliments are nice :-> )
0:12 riff is awesome. A loop of that walking up the neck would make a great intro by itself. Great cover.
